EXPLICIT TEACHING DEMONTRATION LESSON PLAN

Grade Level: Three Number of Students in a Class: 30

Subject: English Students’ L1: Sinugbuanong Binisaya

Domain: Grammar and Oral Language Alloted Time: 50 minutes

I. Objectives:

Instructional: Identify descriptive adjectives.

Use appropriate descriptive adjectives in describing

nouns and pronouns.

Expressive: Value “appreciation” especially in making others

happy and feel great about themselves. (describing

positively)

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Descriptive Adjectives (EN3GS-00-5, EN3GS- 5.3.1)

References: Curriculum Guide in English p.

Teaching Guide in English p. 241

Learners’ Material in English pp. 235-236

Materials: laptop, projector, flash cards, pictures, graphic organizer,

activity sheets

Valuing: “Appreciation makes others happy and feel great about

themselves.”

III. Procedures:

A. PRE-LESSON ASSESSMENT OF TARGET SKILL/S:

*Let the pupils sing and dance an action song with audio and visual accompaniment
about describing people.

*Say: We are going to sing and dance an action song. Watch closely the lyrics

of the song and listen carefully to the one singing while you are dancing
because I will be asking questions about the song afterwards.
*Ask: Who are the persons mentioned in the song?
What words tell about the teacher? What words tell about the uncle?

*Say: When we tell something about others, we are giving information about

them, in other words, we are describing them.

B. PRESENTATION/INTRODUCTION:

 Show to the class a mystery box with some tangible objects inside like apple
cologne, cake, candy and stone.
Let the class guess one by one the objects inside the mystery box by
describing the objects.
 Let the pupils identify the names of things/objects presented.
 Ask: What can we say about them. (Let them give one word to describe
each of the object.)
 Check the words they used to describe and tell them about that they are called
descriptive adjectives.

C. MODELING/ TEACHING: (I do it.)

 Teacher presents sentences on the board.

-The clown is funny.


- The candies we got are colourful.
- The dog has black spots.
-The playground is wide.

 Say-The underlined words in the sentences are examples of Descriptive


Adjectives.

 Teacher will show more examples.

- We bought a delicious cake. (The word that describes the cake is delicious.)
- Rico is an intelligent boy. (The word that describes Rico is intelligent.)
- I like to study in a clean classroom. (The word that describes classroom is
clean.)
- My pet dog is obedient. (The word that describes the dog is obedient.)

 Say- The words delicious, intelligent, clean and obedient that I mentioned
earlier are called Descriptive Adjectives. Remember that Descriptive
Adjectives are words that used to describe, modify and tell something
about the nouns (names of persons, things, animals, places and events) or
pronouns.(he, she, it, you, we, they)
D. GUIDED PRACTICE:

 Let the pupils do the following activities by group. Discuss the rules in
group activities, mechanics of the activity and the rubrics for scoring
pupils’ group performance.

1. Engagement Activities- Unicef-suggested differentiated activities.

Group 1- Adjective Flower (Match the flower with adjective to the stalk with noun)

Group 2 - Adjective Ice Cream (Match the ice cream with adjective to the cone

with noun.

Group 3 - Shoe Lacing (Match the adjective to the naming word-noun it describes.)

Group 4- Cover All (Cover the pictures with adjectives that describe them.)

 Presentation of output by group and feed backing shall be done afterwards to


to check and discuss the answers.

2. Application & Valuing- Show an AVP of a story about being kind to others and

appreciating the likes of others.

 Based on the story complete the flower graphic organizer by giving


describing words to the noun at the center.
 Ask- Why did the story character made his friend felt bad?
(because he said that the things that she likes are boring and ugly)
What can the boy do to make her friend happy?
(describe her positively)

 Generalization- Ask the following questions:

-How do we know that the word is a descriptive adjective?


-How does appreciation and positive description affect others?
E. INDEPENDENT PRACTICE:

 Complete the sentences below with descriptive adjectives from the word
bank.

3. The pillow on my bed is very _________________________.

 Formulate three sentences describing each picture using appropriate
