1
• Calculate distillation curve with External standard sample data.
Internal standard (Single / double)
• Use Internal standard method when analyze the sample that is not eluted all compound such
as lube oil and crude oil.
• Use Single method when elution of internal standard does not overlap with unknown sample
1
• Use Double method when elution of internal standard overlap with unknown sample
• Error check with Reference Oil
• Set criteria and threshold per 5% of distillation curve, and check on analysis.
1
• Calculate the residue for particular temperature range
• Set and calculate up to 10 place of particular temperatures(Cut Point) and particular temperature
ranges (Fraction) .
1
• Correlations
• Correlate to ASTM D86, D1160, Diesel & Jet Oil and Kerosene & Gas Oil, and calculate Flash
Point , NOACK and Reid Vapor Pressure.
1
• A series of analysis from calibration to sample analysis
• A series of GC analysis (blank analysis, analysis for BP-RT calibration curve with n-paraffin
standard sample, sample analysis, calculate distillation curve and report out) is achieved by
1
LabSolutions batch analysis
• System check with LabSolutions System suitability function 1
• Calculate the column resolution, the peak skewness and the relative response factor with

• Calculate difference between average of area slice 1 and 2. If the difference exceeds 0.00001%
of total area, the first slice of 2 is set as start eluting point.
• If the difference does not exceed, recalculate diffrence between 2 and 3. And then continue to
calculate until the difference exceeds 0.00001% of total area.

5.1 Edit Report Format Files
Sample report format files for SIMDIS GC are installed.First-time users should use these report format files 55
as a base to make new report format files.
This section describes how to open the pre-installed report format file “Distillation.lsr ” in the [Report]
window, and change the column setting of distillation result table. 5
^ Reference
• Refer to "5.2 Installed Report Format Files" P.61 for details on pre-instaled report format files. 5
• For further operation to create the new report format file, refer to “8.4 Create a Report Format File” in
5
Operators Guide.
The contents of the “\LabSolutions\Sample\SIMDIS” [Folder] is displayed in the [Data Explorer] sub-win-
dow.
4 Drag-and-drop “Distillation.lsr” from the [Data Explorer] sub-window onto the [Report]
window.
5 Click the (Data) tab at the bottom of the [Data Explorer] sub-window, and drag-and-
drop the data file.
If the data file is not displayed in the [Data Explorer] sub-window, click (Select Folder), and
specify the folder that contains the desired data.
7 Click the [Result Table] tab and [Details] button of [Distillation Result Elution - BP].

6 System Check
The equation of column resolution calculation is different between [USP] and [USP2]. Refer to “3.3 Column
Performance Equations” in Data Acquisition & Processing Theory Guide. If you comply with ASTM, choose
[USP] or [USP2] as follows.
• Recommend to use [USP]
ASTM D3710, D5399
• Recommended to use [USP2]
ASTM D2887, D5307, D6352, D6417, D7096, D7169, D7213, D7500
1 Click the [Quantitative] tab on [Method View], Set Quqntitative Method to “Internal
Standard”.
3 Change [Type] to “ISTD” for standard compound of calculation, and set the [Conc.] of
compounds.
In Following example, C10 is standard compound, while C14 is calculated compound.
1 Open the sample type [Standard] data file on [Data Analysis] window.
6
[Table Style] sub-window is displayed.
4 Add the item to display the result to [Display Item] and then click [OK].
The items are displayed on [Compound] tab.
Display as follows.

Refer to "6.2 Setting in System Suitablility Setting sub-window" P.74 to set the Lower and Upper
Limit and report out the check result.
To calculate peak skewness, “Tailing Factor” uses 5% peak height and “Tailing Factor(10%)” uses 10% peak
height. If you comply with ASTM, choose “Taling Factror” or “Tailing Factor(10%)” as follows.
Tailing Factor Calculation of LabSolutions
S = (A+B) / 2A
(S : Tailing Factor, A : Width of the front half of the peak, B : Width of the latter half of the peak)
• ASTM for “Tailing Factor”
ASTM D3710, D5399 (Lower Limit : 0.75, Upper Limit : 1.5)
ASTM D7096 (Lower Limit : 0.885, Upper Limit : 1.125)
ASTM D7500 (Lower Limit : 0.778, Upper Limit : 1.125)
• ASTM for “Tailing Factor(10%)”
ASTM D6352 (Lower Limit : 0.778, Upper Limit : 1.125)
ASTM D7169 (Lower Limit : 0.8, Upper Limit : 1.2)
To check the relative response factor that is written in official method, Set compound of response factor
criterion as Internal standard compound. Refer to"6.1.2 The parameters for relative response factor"
P.70 to set internal standard compound.
