Monsoon Measures and Improvements in The Month of July 2023

This document discusses monsoon measures and improvements along two stretches of road in Delhi: 1. Between Saket-G and Sangam Vihar, 1200mm and 1800mm drainage pipes were laid to connect storm drains and prevent waterlogging on the road. 2. Between Sangam Vihar and Tughlakabad, dewatering pits and pumps were installed at the Airforce station and Maa Anandmayee Marg station to remove waterlogging more quickly. Monsoon measures and improvements – CPM6 Section

A. Stretch between Saket-G to Sangam Vihar (Elevated) (DC-04)

1. Laying of twin 1200mm dia drain pipes along Vayusenabad

A 600mm dia storm water pipe drain along Vayusenabad boundary wall
existed on North side MB road. The land has been taken from Air force, the
work of shifting existing boundary wall and road widening is in progress and
will be completed within a month.

As a part of this work, 1200mm dia drain pipes laying is in progress along
the Vayusenabad boundary wall which will cater the waterflow coming from
Mangal bazar road on the MB road. This waste water from Mangal bazaar
road used to flow on road surface from Sangam Vihar to Khanpur resulting in
waterlogging on MB road. After laying this pipe drain, the storm water is now
entering into the pipe drain and reaching the MCD main drain on Madangiri
road keeping the MB road partially free from waterlogging starting from
entry point near Vayusenabad gate no 4 up to Khanpur.

2. Laying of 1800mm dia pipe across the MB road in Saket-G

1800mm dia pipe has been laid across the MB road in Saket-G near DM
(South) office to provide connection of Service road & South side drainage to
the PWD main drain running on North side of MB road. The location near DM
(South) office used to be waterlogged due to the rainwater and backflow
from DJB sewer line on South side of MB road in rains and even in dry days.

After laying the 1800mm dia pipe across the road the drainage on South side
got connected to the PWD main drain nalla on North side of MB road,
keeping the MB road at this point free from waterlogging

B. Stretch between Sangam Vihar to Tughlakabad (Underground) (DC-07)

1. Airforce Shaft at Airforce station Tughlakabad

 The remaining 30 meters of stormwater drain work has been completed,
and now water from the PWD ROW is flowing through it.
 Bunds have been constructed along the barricade board to prevent water
from entering the Airforce Launching Shaft.
 Additionally, a pit has been created inside the barricades to pump out water
coming from the road. Two pumps with capacities of 25 HP and 10 HP have
been permanently installed for this purpose.
 Concrete barrier is being constructed all around shaft opening to avoid
outside water entering into TBM shaft.
 The shaft also has two permanently installed pumps of 25 HP and 10 HP
capacity to pump out water.

2. Maa Anandmayee Marg station

2 nos. of dewatering pits were built at the lowest portion in front of Lohar
basti, on Mehrauli Badarpur road, along with permanent installation of
dewatering pumps of capacities 25 HP, 15 HP, and 10 HP. Due to this
improvement, waterlogging, which previously took 6-8 hours to clear, now
gets resolved within just 1 hour.
