Learning Area of Foreign Languages Subject: Basic English


Level: Grade 8 Semester: 1/2022
Module: What Do You Like to Do? Topic: Your Idea of Fun
Teacher: Mr. Kiatchanok Pimchai Time: 2 hour
1) Standard and Indicators
Standard F1.1: Understand and interpret what is heard and read in various media and give
reasonable opinions.
Standard F1.3 Present information, concept, and opinions on various topics by speaking and
writing.
1.2 Indicators
F.1.1 M.2/4 Choose a Topic, main idea, provides supporting detail, and expresses opinions about
what has been heard and read, along with giving reasons and giving simple examples.
F.1.3 M.2/3 Speak and write opinion about activity, relevant topic, and experience with a short
reason.
2) Learning Objectives
1. Students can tell the details about the passage. (K)
2. Students can express opinion about popular pastime in Thailand. (P)
3. Students participate in group activity (A)
3) Contents
3.1 Function: To talk about favorite hobby.
3.2 Vocabulary: Pastime, Spend, Soap opera, Typical, Producer
4) Concept
This lesson aimed to provide students about pastime in different country, and exchange
opinion about what is the best pastime in Thailand.

6) Workload
- Students do exercise “About the reading”. Complete the chart with the correct answer.
- Students do group activity. Student in each group find the most interesting pastime in
Thailand.
7) Learning Activities
First Hour
1.Warm up (5 Minutes)
- The teacher asks students to look at the picture on page 19, and teacher ask them about the
picture with a following question. What do you think the reading is about?
2. Presentation (15 Minutes)
- The teacher presents the difficult vocabulary before reading the passage through the slides.
After that, the students write those down on their notebook.
- The teacher asks students to read the passage “What’s Your Idea of Fun?”. After finish reading
each paragraph, the teacher asks students about the details to keep students on track.
3. Practice (25 Minutes)
- Students do exercise “About the reading”. Complete the chart with the correct answer.
4. Warp up (5 Minutes)
- The students and the teacher summarize the learning content together.
Second Hour
1.Warm up (5 Minutes)
- The teacher gives students a card. The students stand up and find the students who have
the same cards. After that, the students sit down in group. (5-6 persons per group)
2. Presentation (10 Minutes)
- The teacher announces that today students must work in group to find the most interesting
pastime in Thailand.
- The teacher shows an example of the work and explain the work for the students.
3. Production (30 Minutes)
- Students do the activity. Student in each group find the most interesting pastime in Thailand.
Then make a mind map with information included
- What is this pastime?
- Short describe
- Why is it interesting?
- Teacher monitors the students and give them advice during the activity.
- Each group comes out and presents about that pastime they chose. After that, each group
vote the most interesting pastime in Thailand.
4. Warp up (5 Minutes)
- The students and the teacher summarize the learning content together.
