Course Overview:
The objective of this course is to enable students to think critically about c
contemporary education issues, so they can develop creative solutions to difficult
problems. This will be accomplished by gaining an understanding of the history of
these issues and problems. The major QUESTIONS guiding this course are:
 What is teaching?
 What is education?
 What is the history of education?
 What are the issues and problems in education today and what are the
various histories?
 What should education be in the future?
 What are some of the social influences on education?
 What philosophies have influenced education?
Attendance policy:
Students are expected to attend classes regularly. In case of absence appropriate
written document must be provided. Class participation is an integral part of the
course so absence will have effect on the final grade.
Academic Dishonesty:
Students are expected to believe in their abilities. Ant act of cheating will result in
an “F”.

Reading Assignments

Reading assignments will be provided in the class. Participation in class discussion
