Uncontrolled Single-Phase Bridge Rectifier with Capacitance

Output Filter

The analysis is very much like that of the half-wave rectifier with a
capacitance filter, however, in the full-wave circuit, the time that the
capacitor discharges is smaller than that for the half-wave circuit.
The output voltage ripple for the full-wave rectifier is approximately
one-half that of the half-wave rectifier.
The output voltage expression is:

2. single-phase controlled full-wave rectifier
A versatile method of controlling the output of a full-wave rectifier is to
substitute controlled switches such as thyristors (SCRs) for the diodes. Output
is controlled by adjusting the delay angle of each SCR, resulting in an output
voltage that is adjustable over a limited range.
