a. identify the different parts of the human eye;
b. explain the different parts of the human eye;
c. value the human eye.

d. Materials: creative instructional materials, printed diagram, meta strips, activity sheets

III. Procedures
A. Preparatory Activity
1. Preparations
a. Let the pupils stand for a prayer
b. Checking of attendance
c. Checking of Assessment
2. Review
Ask the pupils about the previous lesson

B. Developmental Activities
1. Motivation / Drill
a. The teacher will introduce the lesson objectives
b. The pupils will be asked to look at their surroundings and focus on an object that
they find attractive
2. Presentation
a. The students will be asked about the object they previously described as attractive
as to what factors made them choose the object; whether it is based on the shape,
color, style, etc.;
b. The teacher will ask the students what organ they used in looking at the object;
c. The teacher will be introducing the topic which is the parts of the human eye and
its functions;

3. Discussion
a. The teacher will show the pupils a diagram containing the parts of the human eye;
 The parts of the eye and its functions
The cornea is the transparent part of the eye that covers the iris and the pupil and allows
light to enter the inside. The iris is the colored part of the eye and it controls how much light the
pupil lets in. The pupil is the black circular opening in the iris that lets light in. The lens is
responsible for transmitting light, focusing it on the retina. The retina converts light that enters into
your eye into electrical signals your optic nerve sends to your brain which creates the images you
see. The optic nerve transmits electrical impulses from your eyes to your brain. Your brain
processes this sensory information so that you can see.
 Ways to take care of the eyes

 Eat a healthy, balanced diet.

 Maintain a healthy weight.
 Get regular exercise.
 Wear sunglasses.
 Wear protective eye wear.
 Avoid smoking.
 Know your family medical history.
 Know your other risk factors.
 If you wear contacts, take steps to prevent eye infections.
 Give your eyes a rest.

4. Generalization
a. What are the parts of the eye?
- The cornea, iris, pupil, lens, retina and the optic nerve.
b. What is the function of:
- Cornea – it is the transparent part of the eye that covers the iris and
the pupil and allows light to enter the inside.
- Iris – it is the colored part of the eye and it controls how much light the

- Optic Nerve - transmits electrical impulses from your eyes to your
brain
5. Application
The teacher will group the class into three and each group will be given different tasks
as follows:
a. For group one, they will be assigned to label the parts of the eye. The meta strips
to be used will be provided by the teacher;

b. For group two, they have to explain the functions of the parts of the eye by writing
a definition next to the parts provided by the teacher;
- Cornea – it is the transparent part of the eye that covers the iris and
the pupil and allows light to enter the inside.
- Iris – it is the colored part of the eye and it controls how much light the
pupil lets in.

brain.
c. For group three, they will illustrate the ways to take care of the eyes through action
/ quick roleplay.
