Inquiry

This document outlines an inquiry-based learning activity to help students understand electric circuits. It involves dividing students into groups to explore aspects of circuits through open-ended questions and hands-on experimentation with components like wires, batteries, and bulbs to construct simple circuits. By actively exploring circuits through guided inquiry, students will discover the principles behind how they function and are constructed while developing critical thinking and collaboration skills.

Title: Exploring Electric Circuit through Inquiry-Based Learning

Objective:
The objective of this inquiry-based learning activity is to help students understand the concept and
functioning of circuits in electrical circuits. Through guided inquiry, students will discover the principles
behind electric circuits, their applications, and how they are constructed.

Materials Needed:
1. Electrical tools (Pliers, Cutter, Screw Driver, Electrical tape).

2. Safety gloves.

3. Various electrical components (Wires, Bulbs, Batteries, Male plugs, Receptacles).

4. Multi-tester (Optional).

5. Worksheets (Printouts with guided questions).

6. Small whiteboards or poster paper.

7. Markers.

8. Safety guidelines and precautions handout.

Instructions:

1. Begin with a brief introduction to electric circuit, explaining that they are crucial components in electrical
systems.

2. Ask students to share what they already know about circuit and write their ideas on the board.

3. Discuss their responses and clarify any misconceptions.

4. Introduce the electric circuits (Parallel and Series). and its components.

5. Discuss the parallel circuit. and series circuit.

6. Explain the concept of wiring.

7. Demonstrate how to measure voltage using a multi tester.

8. Have students take voltage from series and parallel circuit.

9. Provide various electrical components (bulbs, batteries, wires) and instruct students to construct simple
circuits. students connect the step-down transformer in these circuits, varying the turns ratio.

10. Encourage them to observe how the voltage affects the brightness of the bulbs using (Series Circuit).

Group Inquiry (20 minutes):**

11. Divide students into small groups and provide them with worksheets containing open-ended
questions.

12. Instruct each group to explore a specific aspect of electric circuit, such as applications or limitations.

13. Encourage discussion and collaboration among group members.

14. Have each group present their findings to the class.

15. Lead a class discussion to summarize the key findings and concepts related to electric circuits.

16. Encourage students to reflect on what they've learned and how it connects to real-world applications.

17. Conclude by revisiting the initial ideas shared by students and noting any changes in their
understanding.

18. Assign homework or a follow-up project where students can research and report on a specific
application of electric circuit in modern technology.

This inquiry-based learning activity not only helps students understand the concept of electric circuit but
also promotes critical thinking, experimentation, and collaboration. It engages students actively in the
learning process, fostering a deeper understanding of the topic.
