Caturthāgni

Samūḍha Pauṇḍarīka Mahāyāgam
पपौण्डररीकममृदद्धिककामम
Time: March 16 – April 22 2024 CE
Venue: Banks of Akhanda Gautami, Pedavadapalli
(Kovvur – Nidadavole Road)

INVITATION
An Appeal to All Āstikā-s

Having humbly submitted the intent to: the Ubhaya Jagadguru-s of Dakṣiṇāmnāya Śrī Śṛṇgeri
Śāradā Pīṭham; the Pīṭhādhipati(s) of:: Avadhūta Datta Pīṭham, Mysuru; Śrī Puṣpagiri Pīṭham,
Udupi Pejāvara Adhokṣaja Maṭha, and the Pūrvāmnāya Śrī Govardhana Maṭha, Puri Śaṅkarācārya
and with the blessings of Kaliyuga Daiva Śrī Veṅkaṭeśvara Svāmī and the grace(anugraha) of
Kanchi Kamakoti Pīṭham,

Yajña Dīkṣita Brahmaṥrī Dendukūri Veṅkaṭeṥvara Dīkṣitulu gāru

(One who has performed several Soma Yāgā-s including over Dviṣāhasra, Triṣāhasra Cayana-s such as
Vyūḍha Pauṇḍarīka and Mahāvrata apart from those of Sapta Soma Saṃstha-s)

impelled by the word and desire of Brahmībhūta Sadguru Śrī Śrī Jñānānanda Tīrtha Svāmī-jī, in
this Centenary Year of his birth, has resolved to undertake the performance of the arguably the
most elaborate of the Soma Yāgā-s that can be performed in Kali Yuga, and the one that we
learn Lord Śrī Rāma himself undertook many times over1 after His coronation in the Rāma Rājya –
the Pauṇḍarīka Yāga – at the following place-time:

Place Pedavadapalli, On the Banks of the Vast River Godavar, near Kovvur (West Godavari
Dt., Andhra Pradesh) on the Kovvur-Nidadavole Road
Time The Saturday, the March 16 2024 CE to the Monday, the April 22 nd 2024 CE (i.e., Śrī
Śobhakṛt Phālguṇa Śukla Saptamī to Śrī Krodhi Caitra Śukla Caturdaśī)

Pauṇḍarīka Yāga is of two kinds: Vyūḍha and Samūḍha. Pauṇḍarīka Yāga is performed for
obtaining Ṛddhi (~development, prosperity and abundance in all aspects desirable for a happy
and harmonious coexistence). Having performed the Vyūḍha Pauṇḍarīka Yāga, thirty years ago
in the year 1994 CE, for the general welfare and well-being of the entire world – यजकाम कलकाण हहेतवम
- the observance of the Caturthāgni yukta Samūḍha Pauṇḍarīka Mahāyāgam by the Yajamāna
as a part of the larger desire in the country for realizing Rāma Rājya in our times is purely a matter
of Divine grace. Caturthāgni is the fourth time when a fire altar in the shape of an eagle is made
and it is made of 3000 bricks. It is on this that Samūḍha Pauṇḍarīka Mahāyāgam will happen.
We appeal to all Āstikā-s that they take this as an opportunity to contribute their might in whatever
form – donations in monetary form or in kind: gold, silver, brass/bronzeware, earthenware,
clothes, food;through verbal, physical support, tapasya and gain merit and the blessings of
Yajñeṥvara.

While the Yāga happens, in the open space outside the Yāgaśālā, attempts are on to organize
several educative, dhārmika as well as cultural programmes to enlighten the people about the
various aspects of the Yāga.

After the end of the Yāga, on the Garuḍa-shaped fire altar (Śyena Citi), a Mandir of Śrī Mahā Viṣṇu
(Śrī Kṛṣṇa) is desired to built as a monument for inspiring the observance of such Yāga-s in future.
There are thoughts on immortalising the names of the people who helped in the observance and
the conduct of the Yāga through appropriate means around the monument.
