Parts and Function of Compound Microscope

For effective use and proper care of the compound microscope,

you should be familiar with its parts. The different parts of a
compound microscope may be grouped into illuminating, magnifying,
and mechanical parts.

Illuminating Parts:
- These parts provide light to the microscope.

Magnifying Parts:
- These parts make the object look larger. As far as the function of
the microscope is concerned, they play the most important role.

Procedure:

1.Your teacher is going to demonstrate before the class, the proper ways of handling
the Microscope from the time you get it from the counter until you place it down on
the lab table. She will also point out the various parts of the Microscope and how
they are supposed to be manipulated.

2.After having been shown all the parts of the Compound Microscope, you are now
expected to be able to point them out in your own Microscope.

3.Identify first the larger parts of the Microscope which are the ARM, BASE, BODY
TUBE and the STAGE.
