Control Systems - Class-4-9-08-2021

This document discusses transfer functions of control systems. It provides the transfer function for a circuit given its equations. It also discusses analogies between electrical and mechanical systems, describing how mechanical components like springs, masses and dampers correspond to electrical components like capacitors, inductors and resistors. It then gives steps to find the transfer function of a mechanical translational system from its free body diagram and differential equation. Finally, it asks to find the transfer function for another mechanical translational system shown in a figure.

• Assume a positive direction of motion.
• Draw a free –body diagram
• Mark all the forces acting on the body either in the direction of motion or in
the opposite direction
• Write the differential equation governing by using newton’s law.
• Take Laplace transform of the equation, rearrange it to find the required transfer
