LP For Multigrade Classes

This lesson plan covers teaching triangles to a combined 4th and 5th grade class. It will teach students to identify and describe triangles according to their sides as equilateral, isosceles, or scalene. Students will complete an activity where they must label example triangles. The lesson will also teach students to identify and describe different types of quadrilaterals including squares, rectangles, parallelograms, rhombuses, and trapezoids. Students will participate in a group activity where they assemble cutouts of quadrilaterals and describe the shapes. They will then answer application questions to assess their understanding.

Group Activity
“We all Fit Together”
Directions: The class will be divided into 5 groups. Each
group will receive an envelope containing cut- outs of a
figure.
They have to assemble each piece and paste it well on a
bond paper. The group who will finish first, will receive 5
points.

Isosceles Triangles
In an isosceles triangle, only 2 sides are congruent.
The angles opposite the equal sides are equal to
each other. In other words, an isosceles triangle has
two equal sides and two equal angles.

Scalene Triangles
A scalene triangle is a triangle in which all three
sides have different lengths. Also, the interior
angles of a scalene triangle have different
measurement.

Look at the figures that you had formed. What did you
