Grading Policy
• Late work policy: Late work is allowed to be turned in up until the end of the Quarter they are assigned.
Any work will receive full credit until the next quiz or test after the due date. After this point they will be
graded for half credit.
• Tests and quizzes must only be made up during BPH. They cannot be made up during a class period.
Excused absences still have to make up tests and quizzes at some point during the semester. Tests/quizzes
can be made up or retaken for a higher grade up to the end of the semester they are assigned.
• I only round grades at the end of the semester and not at progress or quarter grade checkpoints. Be aware
of this if you are in sports and are at a 59.5% at a grade check-in.
Tardy Policy
• Class starts when the bell rings. To be considered present you must be in your seats with your notebooks
out starting on the Bellwork if we have any that day.
• Consistent tardiness will result in disciplinary actions (see student handbook.)
Bathroom passes cannot be used for the first 15 minutes of class and the last 15 minutes of class
• Leaving class early without permission will result in an absence (even if you leave a minute early!)
 Bathroom procedure
• Only 1 person at a time. You will need a pass.
• There will be a sign out sheet you must fill out with your name, date, time leaving and time you came
back.
• Do not ask to go every day and do not just leave the room without permission. If it is an emergency and
someone is out please still check in with me.
Badger Power Hour/Conference period
• Friday tutoring 8:00-8:40 and 10:21-11:21*. This time is to be used to take tests and quizzes that were
missed during an absence or get help on assignments or catch up on missing work
• BPH is an invite only, to come to BPH you must already have a pass from me to give to your 2 nd period
teacher. You may come in to get one during conference period ONLY. Do not come during second period
I will send you back to class.
Cellphone Policy
• NO CELLPHONES during active assignments or tests/quizzes. Cellphones should be left in backpacks
during class but may be used to listen to music ONLY during designated times.

• No games, social media, videos or watching TV. Taking photos or making videos in class will not be
allowed EVER. You are not allowed to take pictures of me just like I cannot take pictures of you. I will
document and talk to administration/call home if it becomes a problem. Abusing the cellphone policy will
result in the following penalties:
1st strike: 1st warning and will be asked to put it away for the remainder of class.
2nd strike: I will take your phone for the period and email/phone home
3rd strike: cheat grade (0 on the assignment, not able to be made-up) and I call a monitor to
have it taken to T-150 for a parent/guardian to pick up at the end of the day
• The strikes restart everyday BUT If I must warn you twice 3 days in a row you jump straight to strike 3 or
if you are caught using it to cheat. Cheating using cellphones will result in a cheating grade on the
assignment and all phone privileges will be taken away for the remainder of the semester. I am allowed to
go to whichever strike I feel is appropriate for the action.
• If there is a call you are expecting or need to make during class you must confirm it with me first and
receive it in the hallway. I do not tolerate taking phone calls in class and will result in disciplinary action.
If you are absent:
• Check in with me when you return or send me an email ahead of time if you know you will be absent.
Assignments will be found in the classroom and the Nearpod codes will be posted to Microsoft teams for
each of the categories for notes. Tests and quizzes will be retaken during BPH.
Testing policy
• Tests and quizzes are OPEN NOTE. You are expected to ONLY use your own notes. Using other
peoples notes is considered cheating and you both will receive zeros and cheat grades.
• Cellphones will not be allowed during the test at any capacity. If you have your cellphone out during a
test you will get a zero and a cheat grade.
• Afterwards time should be used to work on missing work.
• Tests may be made up or retaken during conference or BPH only. If you were caught cheating then you
will not be allowed to make up those tests.
 Other Classroom Etiquette

● The students and teachers will treat each other with respect

● Talking is allowed but not during lectures or when someone is presenting.

● If it is free time be respectful of others, not everyone wants to hear your video

What topics will we be covering in class

This semester will be divided into two parts. For the third quarter we will be covering our solar system and the physics’ of
space. We will be going over the specifics of our solar system as well as the basics of orbits and distances in space. In the
fourth quarter we will be covering the possibility of life in the universe. We will be taking a multidisciplinary approach to
this as we need to cover what we know as life as well as the universe as a whole.

Tips and Tricks to surviving Class

● Keep up with your work, it will build up

● If you don’t keep up, still turn it in. 50 points is better than 0 points

Hello I am Ms. Rose, and I will be the lead teacher for Astronomy this semester I have been in the classroom since the
beginning of the school year as an observer and co teacher. This semester I will be working with the students as the lead
teacher. I have a bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies with a Minor in Educational Developmental Psychology. Currently
I am a graduate student at the University of Arizona in the Teach Arizona Program.
Outside of class I am usually either hanging out with friends and playing some form of table top game or I am playing board
games. I like to camp when I can actually get away from everything and just relax with friends or family. I love to sped time
cooking but prefer if I can cook for other people as well as myself.
