1. (a) The traffic lights at different road junctions in Dar se Salaam shows the green light at
interval of 15, 20 and 25 seconds. If they all shows all green together at 7:00am. What time
next will they show green together?
(b) Anna spent 7/9 of her income and remained with 88100 Tanzanian shillings. What was
her income?

2. (a) Express 0.5̇ 8̇ as in fraction.


(b)Round off 349.678 to the nearest,
a) Tens.
b) Hundredths.

3. (a) A lorry weights 7.5 tonnes. If the total mass of bricks carried by the lorry is 5 tones 400
kilograms 50 grams. What is the total weight of the lorry and bricks?
(b) The cost of printing a pattern in a cloth is 250 Tanzanian shillings per square metres.
Find the cost of printing a right triangular piece of cloth whose base is 30m and its
hypotenuse is 50m.

4. (a) Represent all real numbers x such that -5/3 ≤ x < 2on a number line.
(b) Alfred bought a car for 4,700,000 Tanzanian shillings and spent 600,000 Tanzanian
shillings to repair. If he sold the car for 5,600,000 Tanzanian shillings, what was his profit?

5. (a) What value of K will the slope of the points (K, 5) and (-2, 3) equal to the slope of the
points (6,K) and (2,0).
(b) A formula connecting U, V and F for a spherical mirror is 1/F =1/U + 1/V. Make V the
subject of the formula.

6. (a) A father’s age is four times the age of his son. If the sum of their ages is 50 years, find the
age of the son.
(b) The interest in four years on a principal of Tshs 90,000 is Tshs 12,600. Find the rate.

7. (a) A Church farm is 3500m long and 2800m wide, if Matiti walked around the farm fifteen
times, what distance did he walk in metres?
(b) If (3x+3) (5 2-y ) = (1/3)5 (1/5), find the value of x and y.
