STUDY PROGRAM : INFORMATION SYSTEM

TASK 2

1. Why do most braking systems waste energy?

Most traditional vehicle braking systems generate heat during braking, and kinetic energy lost
as heat is considered wasted energy.

2. What are regenerative braking systems, and how do they save energy?

A regenerative braking system is a system that recovers the energy produced during vehicle
deceleration and stores it as a reusable resource. This is achieved by converting kinetic
energy into electrical energy that can be used for further acceleration. In this way, energy
previously wasted as heat during normal braking can be stored and reused.

3. What characteristics are required of materials used for the brakes on racing cars?

The materials used to make racing brakes must have high heat resistance, strong adhesion and
the ability to cool quickly. This is important because racing brakes often produce very high
temperatures during operation.

4. What is meant by "heat soak"?

"Heat soak" is a phenomenon where the heat generated during braking and exhaust system
operation can penetrate various vehicle components, including the chassis and other sensitive
components.

5. Why is it (heat soak) a problem in racing cars?

In racing cars, "heat soak" becomes a problem because high temperatures can damage or
disrupt the performance of sensitive components such as alloys and non-metallic materials
like polymers. This can affect the stability and performance of the vehicle.
6. What do brakes do and how do they work?

Brakes on vehicles are designed to reduce or stop the vehicle's motion. They work by
generating friction between the brake material (usually pads) and rotating components like
discs or drums. This friction converts kinetic energy into heat energy, which then slows down
or stops the vehicle. In racing cars, brakes are designed to provide extremely strong gripping
power and withstand high temperatures for optimal performance.

TASK 3

Translate the text about “Braking System” into bahasa.

menimbulkan panas, membuang panas.
keramik.
