BADMINTON (Unisex)

Match rules

a) Each Badminton match will comprise of 5 games in the following order:


1. Men’s singles
2. Women’s singles
3. Men’s doubles
4. Mixed doubles
5. Men’s singles
b) Each game will consist of 3 sets of 21 points each.
c) A player can play a maximum of two games comprising of only one game of each format -
Singles, Doubles
d) Therefore, a minimum of 4 players have to participate in a match.
e) A maximum of 7 players will be allowed to participate in a match.
f) The team winning 3 games will be declared as the winner of the match.
g) ‘Dead rubbers’ will not be played in the interests of paucity of time to organize remaining
events in the meet.
h) The order of games and players proposed to play particular games will have to be pre
decided and submitted to the Organizing Committee before the beginning of the match and
cannot be changed thereafter.
i) When the leading team reaches the score of 11 points, players will have a 90 seconds long
interval.
j) A 2-minute interval between each game is allowed. There is no additional timeout. A
team/player can have only one medical timeout, second medical timeout equates to a
‘retired hurt’.
k) The matches will be conducted on feather shuttles provided by the Organizing Committee.
l) Teams are expected to bring their own racquets and non-marking shoes (without non-
marking shoes, students have to play barefoot).
m) Matches will be conducted on an indoor court.
n) In case of injury or incapacity to play occurs during a game, no replacement will be
allowed, and if the player refuses to play (retires hurt), the game will be deemed won by the
opponent. Also, the player will not be allowed to play any other game in tie (the opponent
gets the tie point, in case he/she retired hurt is deemed to play a tie).
o) The referees’ decisions will be final and abiding.
p) All other standard Badminton rules apply. Including the updated service rule.
q) A maximum of two coaches (should wear track pants and shoes, compulsorily) are allowed
to be seated for a particular tie. And they are also not allowed to speak during the rally, but
are allowed to coach the player during the timeouts and between the rallies as well.
r) The players should be of the same college.

Spectator Protocol:

a) Spectators will remain at a distance away from the court’s mat during play (this would
amount to a single line of spectators along the wall on the side of the court.) Spectators will

not stand in the space behind the court, and will remain seated during play with
minimal movement.
b) Spectators will not enter the court until the game is called as completed by the referee(s).
c) Cheering etc., should be restricted to the time between points, and spectators are expected
to remain silent during points.
d) Prompting from spectators is actively discouraged and will be penalize.

BASKETBALL (Men & Women)
MEN

a) Each team can have a maximum of 12 players with 5 active players on the court at any point
of time.
b) Rolling substitutions will be allowed.
c) Clock will be stopped when the ball is not in play.
d) Duration: 4 quarters of 10 minutes each with a 2-minute break between the quarters. There
will be a break of 10 minutes after 2 quarters.
e) After 4 personal fouls, the player will be fouled out at 5th foul (personal or technical).
f) After 4 team fouls in any quarter, every foul will result in 2 free shots being awarded to the
opposite team.
g) 2 time-outs in the 1st half and 3 timeouts in the 2nd half are allowed (unused timeouts in
the 1st half will not be carried over to the 2nd half).
h) In case of scores being level at the end of 4th quarter, 5 minutes of extra time will be played.
(1 time out per team will be allowed in this period). The game shall continue with as many
extra periods of 5 minutes as necessary to break the tie.
i) Standard Size-7 Basketball will be used.
j) The referees’ decisions will be final and abiding for all calls including foul calls.
k) All other standard international full court Basketball rules apply.

WOMEN
a) Each team can have a maximum of 12 players with 5 active players on the court at any point
of time.
b) Rolling substitutions will be allowed.
c) Clock will be stopped when ball is not in play.
d) Duration: 4 quarters of 8 minutes each with a 2 minute break between the quarters. There
will be a break of 10 minutes after 2 quarters.

SPECTATOR PROTOCOL

a) Spectators will remain one meter away from the end line as well as the base line during the
course of the event.

b) Spectators will not enter the court until the game is called as completed by the
referee(s). Doing so may result in a technical foul against the team whose spectator
enters the court during play.

CARROM (Unisex)
a) The squad will consist of a minimum of 4 male and 1 female players.
b) A Carrom match (between two colleges) will comprise of 5 games in the following order:
▪ Singles (Men)
▪ Singles (Women)
▪ Mixed Doubles
▪ Singles (Men)
▪ Doubles (Men)
c) No player can play 2 Singles games. Only one male and one female of a team can play
maximum of two games.
d) A maximum of 7 players will be allowed to participate in a match.
e) Each game will be of 8 boards or 25 points, whichever is earlier.
f) The team that achieves the highest cumulative score among 8 boards is considered to be the
winner of that game. In case of tie of a game:
i. For matches before semis and finals, one who has won more number of boards will be
declared winner. If again tie, then a tie-breaker round of 2 board will take place.
ii. For semis and finals: one who has won more no of boards will be declared winner. If again
tie then another round of 4 boards. If again tie on both count (points as well no of wins)
then a final single board will be played for which referee will make a toss for break.
g) The team winning 3 games will be declared as the winner of the match between the two
colleges.
h) ‘Dead rubbers’ will not be played in the interests of paucity of time to organize remaining
events in the meet.
i) The order of games and players proposed to play particular games will have to be pre-
decided and submitted to the Organizing Committee before the beginning of the match and
cannot be changed thereafter.
j) The queen will carry 3 points and all other coins will carry 1 point.
k) All the fingers including thumb can be used to play both above and under the line.
l) In case of an injury or incapacity to play occurs during a game, no replacement will be
allowed, and if the player refuses to play (retires hurt), the game will be deemed won by the
opponent. Also, the player will be counted as having played that game.
m) All other India Carrom Federation rules will be followed.
n) Foul will be given only if the opponent claims it.

SPECTATOR PROTOCOL

a) Spectators may please be seated through the event and not approach the Carrom table at
any time during play.
b) This is a ‘quiet’ spectator sport. Prompting or shouting from spectators is actively
discouraged and can be penalized.

CHESS (Unisex)
a) This is a mixed event (no separate girl’s event). Team of minimum 5 and maximum 6 is
required which can comprise of both males & females.
b) 5 games will be played in each match, i.e., each player will play a game against a player from
the opposing team.
c) All teams would have a fixed board order during all the matches. Captains need to submit a
board order before the start of the tournament. The substitute can only be introduced at the
last board. In this case, the board number of players having a higher number than that of the
substituted player will decrease by 1.
e.g. If the A, B, C, D & E are playing at boards 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 respectively and if B is being
substituted by F, then the new board order would be A, C, D, E & F.
d) Standard chess clocks will be used during the matches with 30 minutes initial time setting for
each player with an increment of 15 sec after each move.
e) Players need to press the clock with the same hand with which they have moved the piece.
f) Touch and move rule will be followed strictly. The opponent can force the player to move the
same piece that was touched. Once the touched pieced is dropped to a different position
then the move cannot be taken back (except for illegal moves).
g) Only 1 illegal move can be made & the opposing player may ask for a time penalty of 2 min.
The game will be declared as a loss if a 2nd illegal move is made by the player.
h) Players are not allowed to talk to any other player during the game & must communicate
through the organizers only. Players will be declared orfeited if this is violated.
i) Players are allowed to walk around the playing area and watch other games, provided they
do so quietly. If they feel the need to move around during the game, they can get up and
walk around in the tournament hall.
j) Players are not allowed to carry any electronic devices (phones, smartwatches, etc.) with
them during the match. They must either put those devices in their bags or keep them on
the organizers’ table in switched off/silent mode before the start of the round.
k) If your phone rings in the playing area during ongoing matches, you will be declared
forfeited for that match. Your phone must not ring until all the teams have finished their
matches for that particular round.
l) In case of any other discrepancies which are not mentioned in the rules, the organizers may
use their judgment to make the final decision.

SPECTATOR PROTOCOL

a) Spectators may not enter the area marked around the tables where the games will take
place.
b) This is a ‘quiet’ spectator game. No sort of cheering or slogan shouting will be allowed at or
immediately outside the venue of the event until all the matches for that round are
announced as completed.
c) Observers are forbidden from telling players anything about their games, even if they notice
a violation of the rules.
d) Prompting from spectators is actively discouraged and can be penalized.

CRICKET (Men only)
a) Minimum 11 and maximum 17 members required per team.
b) All rounds will be knock out rounds.
c) Matches will be played in daylight/under lights with a pink/white leather season ball.
d) Matches will be of 15 overs per side except final of 20 overs.
e) Time of 1 hour 15 minutes per inning for 15 overs match with 5 minutes break between the
innings.
f) Fielding restrictions: 4 overs per side for 15 overs match & 6 overs per side for 20 overs
match.
g) The squad of playing eleven must be named before the toss for every game.
h) Rest of the rules will be as per T20 ICC Cricket rules with neutral umpires.
i) DRESS CODE: Strictly coloured jersey for day/under light matches with Sports Shoes (NO
METAL SPIKES).
j) Alum teams may also be participating in this event.

SPECTATOR PROTOCOL

a) Spectators will remain outside the field of play during the course of the match.
b) Spectators will not enter the field of play until the match is called as completed by the
umpire(s).
c) It shall be an offence for a team if their supporters are found guilty of throwing
objects/missiles at team players or officials during the course of the game. Under these
circumstances, the umpire may, at his discretion, choose to abandon the match. When a
match is abandoned due to objects being thrown onto the field of play, by a team's
supporters, the offending team shall forfeit the match points.

FOOTBALL (Men only)
a) Each team will have 9 active players (8 + 1 goal-keeper; unless any player is sent off).
Maximum squad size allowed is 16 players.
b) 5 substitutions allowed per team during the course of the match. No additional concussion
substitution allowed.
c) No rolling substitution allowed during the match.
d) The total duration of the match will be 60 minutes (2 halves of 30 minutes each). There will
be a break of 10 minutes between the halves.
e) 2 halves of Extra time (of 10 minutes each) will be played only in case of a tie in final.
Penalties will be played in case of tie after the Extra Time.
f) The allowance for time lost will be at the discretion of the referee.
g) The referees’ decisions will be final and abiding.
h) Students part of the institute’s Student Exchange Programs will be deemed as the part of the
contingent. But at a particular point of time only 3 exchange player will be allowed as an on-
field player.
i) In case of deciding the winners of the group, first points would be considered. If the points
are same, then goal difference would be considered. It it is same as well, then goals scored
would be considered. If it is same as well, then head to head will be considered.
j) All FIFA rules are applied.

SPECTATOR PROTOCOL

KABADDI (Men & Women)
Basics:

a) Field of Play means the area which shall be covered with the AKFI approved playing mats
measuring a minimum of 17 ft. x18 ft. and maximum of 20 ft. x 20 ft.
b) Court means the area on which the Kabaddi matches shall be conducted measuring 13
meters x 10 meters. Court is within the Field of Play, represented through lines (points ABCD
as indicated in the diagram below).
c) End Line means the four boundary lines forming the court together (AB, BC, CD and DA as
indicated in the above diagram). All end lines shall be of 3 to 5 cm width
d) Lobby means the areas bounded by AELI, BFLI, DGKJ and CHKJ on both sides of the court
measuring 1 meter in width
e) Mid Line means the line that divides the play field into two equal halves (IJ as indicated in
the diagram below)
f) Half-Court means each half of the court divided by the mid line (AIJD & BCJI as indicated in
the above diagram)
g) Baulk Line means each of the lines in court parallel to the mid line (MN & RQ as indicated in
the above diagram). The distance of the baulk line from the mid line is 3.75 meter
h) Bonus Line means the line between the baulk line and end line (PO & TS as indicated in the
diagram below). The distance between Bonus line and Baulk line is 1 meter.

General rules of play:

a) The team that wins the toss shall have the choice of the court, or the raid, and the team that
loses the toss shall have the remaining choice. In the second half, the court shall be changed
and the team, which did not opt for raid shall send their raider first. The game in the second
half shall continue with the same number of players as it was at the end of the first half.
b) A player shall be declared out if any part of his body touches outside the court (outside any
end line). During struggle, a player shall be declared out only if his entire body is out of the
court, and no part of his body is in contact with the court, including the lobby area.
c) If any player goes out of the end line during play, he shall be declared out. The Umpire or
Referee will ensure that the out player is no longer active during the raid. The Umpire or
Referee shall declare such players out by calling out the numbers. No whistle shall be blown,
and raid will continue.
d) When the struggle begins, the court shall include the lobbies during the struggle and after
the struggle in the same raid. The players involved in the struggle can use the lobbies to
enter their respective side of the court. This rule will only be applicable in the defending
teams’ side of half court.
e) A raider shall continue to chant “KABADDI” as the approved cant. If he is not keeping the
proper approved cant in the opponent’s court, he shall be declared out and the opponent
will be awarded one point and the chance to raid. Under such circumstances, he shall not be
pursued.

f) A raider must start his cant before he touches the opponent’s side of the half court.
If he starts the cant late, he shall be declared out by the Umpire or Referee and the
opponent will be awarded one point and the chance to raid.
g) If a raider goes out of turn, the Umpire or Referee shall order him to go back and a technical
point will be given to opponent team and the chance to raid.
h) Not more than one raider shall enter the opponent’s court at a time, if more than one raider
enters the opponent’s court at a time, the Umpire or Referee shall order all to go back to
their court and a technical point will be awarded to the opponent and the chance to raid.
i) After a raider, has reached his court, the opponents shall send their raider within 5 seconds.
Each side shall continue to send their raider until the end of the game in this fashion. In case
the raider fails to start his raid within 5 seconds the team loses its chance to raid and the
opponent team is awarded a technical point.
j) When a struggle takes place in a raid, on completion of such raid, Rule i) (above) will not be
applicable. The next raid will start on the whistle of the referee after the out players have
been seated in the out box.
k) If a raider, who is caught by one or more defenders, escapes from their attempt to hold and
reaches his court safely, he shall not be pursued. Note: But if a raider touches one of more
defenders and reaches his court safely, he may be pursued.
l) If a raider, while in the opponent’s court loses his chant, he shall be declared out and the
opponent team will be awarded one point and the chance to raid.

When a raider is held, the defenders shall not try deliberately to stifle his chant by shutting his
mouth, using violent tackling leading to injuries, any type of scissoring or use of any unfair
means. If such an incident happens, the Umpire or Referee shall declare the raider NOT OUT.
m) No defender shall willfully push the raider out of the boundary by any part of his body, nor
shall any raider willfully push or pull a defender out of the boundary. If the raider is pushed
outside the boundary or the defender is pushed or pulled outside the boundary, the Umpire
or Referee shall declare the raider or the defender, as the case may be, NOT OUT, and the
defender or the raider who pushes or pulls the opponents outside the boundary will be
declared OUT.
n) During the course of the raid none of the defenders shall touch the raider’s court until
completion of the raid. In case one or more defenders touches the raiders’ court before
completion of the raid they will be declared out and the opponent team will be given that
many points.
o) If one or more defenders’ who are out, having violated “Rule o” (above rule), holds a raider
or violates the said rule while holding or helping to hold the raider, the raider shall be
declared NOT OUT and defenders who touch the raiders’ court shall be declared OUT.
p) When a team manages to put out the entire opponent team and none of the opponents are
entitled to be revived, then that team scores an ALL-OUT and two extra points for ALL-OUT
are awarded in addition to the points scored by the team putting out all the players of the
opponent. The play continues and all the players who are out shall enter in their court within
10 Seconds. Otherwise, the referee or umpire shall award one technical point to the
opponent. If a team fails to enter the court within one minute of the ALL- OUT, then the
Referee or Umpire shall award the match to the opponent team.
q) If a raider is warned or in any way instructed by one of his own side during a raid, the
Umpire or Referee shall award one technical point to the opponent.

r) A raider or an anti is not to be held by any part of his body deliberately other than
his limb or trunk. The one who violates the rule shall be declared OUT. If the raider is
held deliberately other than his limb or trunk, the Umpire or Referee shall declare such
raider NOT OUT. Note: If a raider is caught by his clothes or hair the raider shall be declared
NOT OUT and the defenders who have violated the Rule shall be declared OUT.
s) When one or two players of a team are left during the game and the Captain of the team
declares them out to bring in the full team, the opponent shall score as many points as the
players that existed in the court at the time of declaration as well as Two Extra Points for
ALL-OUT.
t) Player or players who are out shall be revived in the same order as they were out.
u) If a raider does not score any point or lose any point during the raid, the raid will be treated
as an empty raid for his team. In case a team makes three such consecutive empty raids, the
raider of the third empty raid shall be declared out and the opponent team shall be awarded
a point along with one of their players being revived.
v) There should be a minimum of 3 raiders in each team. Match Rules: a) Team: Each playing
team shall consist of minimum 7 and maximum 12 Players. 7 Players shall take the ground at
a time and the remaining 5 players are substitutes. b) Duration of the match: The duration of
the match shall be a minimum of 40 minutes divided equally in two halves of 20 minutes
each along with 5 minutes’ interval between halves. The teams will change sides after the
interval. The number of players for each team at the start of second half shall remain the
same as it was at the end of first half.

System of scoring:
i. Each team shall score one point for every opponent out or put out. The side, which scores an
ALL-OUT, shall score two extra points. The out and revival rule will be applicable. Each team
shall score one point for every bonus point awarded.
ii. If the raider is caught when there are only 3 defenders or less, the defending team gets an
additional bonus point. The total points awarded in such an instance are 2.
Time Out:
i. Each Team shall be allowed to take One “Time Out” of 90 Seconds each per match. Such
time out shall be called for by the Captain, Coach or any playing member of the team with
the permission of referee. During the time out, the Match clock will be paused and will
restart on the commencement of the next raid which has to start on the blow of the whistle
by the referee / umpire.
ii. Official Time out can be called for by the Referee / Umpire in the event of any injury to a
player, interruption by outsiders, re-lining of the ground, or any such unforeseen
circumstances. Match clock will be paused and will restart on the commencement of the
next raid which has to start on the blow of the whistle by the referee / Umpire.
Substitution:
Each team is allowed a maximum number of 5 substitutions per match with the permission of
referee. Substituted Players can be re-substituted by utilizing one of the remaining substitute
chances out of the total 5 number of substitutions allowed in a match. Substitution is not
allowed for players who are out.
Bonus Point:
i. One point shall be awarded to the raider when he crosses the bonus line. If the raider after
crossing the bonus line is caught, the opponent team will also be awarded one point.

ii. The Bonus line will be applicable when there are minimum 6 defenders on the court;
the Referee/Umpire shall award the bonus point after completion of such raid by
showing thumb upwards towards the side which scores.
iii. If the raider while crossing the bonus line is caught, then a point will be awarded to the
defending team & No Bonus point shall be given.
iv. If the raider after crossing the bonus line puts out one or more defenders, he will get the
number of points scored in addition to the bonus point for crossing the bonus line.
v. The raider has to cross the bonus line to score the bonus point before touching the
defenders or before he is caught by the defenders. The raider will not be awarded bonus
point if he crosses the bonus line after a touch or struggle.
vi. There shall be no revival of player for bonus point. Result:
The team, which scores the highest number of points at the end of the match, shall be declared
the winner.

Tie in Knockout / Playoff Matches:


i. Extra time of 7 minutes will be awarded to decide the result of the match.
ii. The extra time of 7 minutes will be divided into 2 halves of 3 minutes each and a break of 1
minute in between the halves.
iii. The court and raid positions shall be the same as they were at the beginning of the match
iv. Regular rules of play shall be followed
v. If at the end of extra 7 minutes, the game is still tied, Golden Raid rule will apply.
Golden Raid
i. The referee / umpire will conduct a fresh toss. The team that wins the toss shall have the
chance to raid i.e. “GOLDEN RAID”.
ii. Both the teams should field 7 Players in the Half iii. The baulk line shall be treated as Baulk
Line Cum Bonus Line and all the Bonus point rules shall be followed.
iii. If the raider succeeds in crossing the baulk line cum bonus line he will get one point
iv. After crossing the Baulk line cum Bonus line, if the raider puts out one or more defenders,
he will get the number of points scored in addition to the one point scored by crossing the
baulk line cum bonus line. No Bonus will be awarded if raider crosses the Bonus cum Baulk
line after touch or struggle
v. The out or revival rule will not be applicable, only points scored will be counted
vi. If player/players are suspended temporarily or disqualified during the Tiebreaker, the team
will play with a smaller number of players. Such players shall be counted to award Bonus
point
vii.If there is tie after the first Golden Raid, then the opponent team will get a chance for the
Golden Raid. The team which scores the leading point in the Golden Raid shall be declared
the winner of the match. If the game is still tied after both teams have been given a chance
of Golden Raid, the winner will then be decided by a toss

Weight Limit:
The weight limit for Men’s Kabaddi is 85 kgs and below and for Women’s Kabaddi its 75 kgs and
below. However, both teams’ captains/Sports Committee hold the authority to relax the
rule.

KHO-KHO (Unisex)

b) The measurement of the ground is approximate due to logistical constraints.
c) The number of players representing any college shall not be more than 15. The team will
consist of 9 players plus 6 substitutes on a rolling basis, out of which 12 will be Men and 3
are Women.
d) At the time of play, a minimum of 2 female players must be present while both chasing and
catching.
e) Matches shall be played according to the rules of the Kho-Kho Federation of India.
f) Match will be of two innings per side each of 7 minutes which is subject to be changed as
per weather condition or any other circumstances by the umpires. There will be a 5 minute
break between the two innings.
g) 3 points will be awarded for each win and no points for a lost match.
h) In case of a match tie situation in the knockout stage we will go with the first player tie
breaker.
i) Rule of tie breaker: Both the teams will go for chasing and while chasing they have to gather
1 point in minimum time. The team which takes minimum time to get their first point in tie
breaker will be declared as winners.
j) Any violence of rule or sportsmanship in the field will result in ban followed by a warning.

FUTSAL (Men & Women)
MEN

a) Each team will have 5 active players (including goal keeper). Maximum squad size allowed is
of 10 players.
b) Matches will be of 2 halves of 15 minutes each till semi-finals and 20 mins for finals. 5
minutes of break will be taken after each half.
c) Extra time of 5 minutes will be played in case of tie after full time. Penalties will follow, if
there is no result even after extra time.
d) Rolling substitutions are allowed. There is no limit on number of substitutions.
e) Only interceptions, blocks and clean tackles are allowed.
f) Rough tackles are not allowed and will result in a yellow card. Any tackle on the keeper
inside D-area would be a foul, except in case of a back-pass.
g) Kick-ins will be taken instead of throw-ins in case the ball goes out of the side lines.
h) 5 second rule applies whenever the play is resumed (kick-in, corner, goal kick).
i) In case of deciding the winners of the group, first points would be considered. If the points
are same, then goal difference would be considered. It it is same as well, then goals scored
would be considered. If it is same as well, then head to head will be considered.
j) Yellow card rule: The player will have to leave the field for 3 minutes (time to be noted by
assistant referee), the team will play with one member less.
k) Red card rule: 2 yellow cards or direct red results in a player being sent-off, the team will
play with one member less for the rest of the match.

SPECTATOR PROTOCOL

a. Spectators will remain outside the field of play during the course of the match.
b. Spectators will not enter the field of play until the match is called as completed by the
referee(s).
c. It shall be an offence for a team if their supporters are found guilty of throwing
objects/missiles at team players or officials during the course of the game. Under these
circumstances, the referee may, at his discretion, choose to abandon the match. When a
match is abandoned due to objects being thrown onto the field of play, by a team's
supporters, the offending team shall forfeit the match points.

WOMEN

Therefore, a minimum of 2 men will have to participate in a fixture.
d) A maximum of 4 men will be allowed to participate in a fixture.
e) The team winning a greater number of matches will be declared as the winner of the fixture.
f) ‘Dead rubbers’ will not be played in the interests of paucity of time to organize remaining
events in the meet.
g) The break between points can maximum be of 20 seconds and the break between games
can maximum be of 90 seconds.
h) The order of players proposed to play particular games will have to be pre-decided and
submitted to Organizing Committee before the beginning of the fixture and cannot be
changed thereafter.
i) Breaks / Time-outs will not be allowed during the game. Only drinks can be taken while the
game is on.
j) Teams are expected to bring their own racquets.
k) The referees’ decisions will be final and abiding.
l) All other standard Tennis rules apply.

WOMEN

Powerlifting event would be conducted based on sufficient participation.

WOMEN

52.0 kg: Class from 47.01kg up to 52.0 kg
57.0 kg: Class from 52.01kg up to 57.0 kg
63.0 kg: Class from 57.01kg up to 63.0 kg
63 kg+: Class from 63.01kg and above

1) Participant will the termed as a ‘lifter’ from here onwards.


2) Body weight will be taken 4 hours before the event starts
3) The ‘category’ will be allotted according to the body weight measured by the weighing
machine kept at the gymnasium between the timing mentioned above only.
4) There will be three lifts in following order
• Squat
• Bench press
• Deadlift
5) Each lifter will be given three attempts per lift; only the best attempt will be counted.
6) Each lifter will make opening calls for each lift (squat, bench, deadlift) while giving the body
weight.
7) The lifter will be allowed to make one change before the competition begins.
8) Once the competition has started no lifter will be allowed to make changes in the opening
lifts.
a. For e.g. in the squat if the lifter has registered 80kg as the opening lift, and while doing the
first attempt, the lift fails.
b. Then he/she will be allowed to increase the weight for the second attempt but cannot go
below 80 kg. The minimum weight for the second attempt will be 80kg.
c. Immediately after the attempt, the lifter has to convey weight to be loaded in his/her next
attempt. This weight cannot be changed once noted by the judge and will be the minimum
bar weight for further lifts.
d. Only in the third deadlift attempt, a lifter is allowed to make one change.
e. If a lifter has registered 100kg for third deadlift attempt, he/she can get this changed
subjected to the condition that this weight cannot be lower than the second attempt.
9) There will be three judges for each lift.

10) To get a good attempt in each lift at least 2 of the three judges have to pass the lift,
11) Else the lift will be considered as failed.
12) If all the three attempts in either one of the subevents (squat/bench/deadlift) are called as
“no/fail” lift, the lifter will be disqualified.
13) In the case of disqualification, there will be no ranking for the lifter; there has to be one
good attempt in each subevent (squat/bench/deadlift) for the lifter to be considered for
ranking.
14) Rules for each subevent (squat/bench/deadlift) will be told before the event starts, please
follow the instructions carefully, especially the commands for the start and stop/down.
a. If the lifter starts / stops / racks the weight before the judge signals, the lift will be counted as
failed.
15) The decision of the three judges will be final.
16) Competition is held category wise as per body weight (under 59kg, under 66 kg, under 74
kg, under 84 kg, under 95kg and 95+ kg).
a. For each weight category, there will be separate rankings. The combined total of the best
attempt of the three subevents (squat/bench/deadlift) will be used for ranking.
b. There will be no sub-ranking for subevent (squat/bench/deadlift) under powerlifting.
17) Raw event: Only wrist wraps, knee sleeves and lifting belt permitted.
a. Hand gloves and other equipment not permitted.
18) The competition (powerlifting and bench-press) will be played as per the International
Powerlifting Federation (IPF) rules.

WOMEN

Generic Rules

a) The participant should wear round neck half sleeve t-shirt (preferably in single color, plain)
irrespective of the event. Elbows should be clearly visible. The t-shirt cannot be v- neck /
sleeveless / full sleeves / collared.
b) Compression / lycra material t-shirt are strictly not allowed.

c) Each participant should wear shorts with knees clearly visible to the judge. Compression
tights, and running pants are not allowed.

d) All the lifts will be done with the longest (weightlifting) bar in the gym. The weight of that
bar is 20kg. This weight will be counted in the total weight lifted.

e) Wearing knee-length (football) sock is suggested for safety reasons in deadlifts. This can help
prevent bruises to the shins. Though this is optional, but any injury caused is responsibility
of player.

SNOOKER (Unisex)
a) Team shall comprise of minimum 4 and maximum 6 players.
b) The event will be played following the international rules.
c) Each game will be a best of 5 matches is the following order:
▪ Singles
▪ Singles
▪ Doubles
▪ Singles
▪ Doubles
d) One player can play a maximum of 2 matches (1 Singles and 1 doubles) in a game.
e) The order of players proposed to play particular games will have to be pre-decided and
submitted to Organizing Committee before the beginning of the fixture and cannot be
changed thereafter.
f) Each frame in all rounds before the semis will have a one hour time limit, with the player
leading the match emerging victorious in case there is no clear-cut winner.

SPECTATOR PROTOCOL

a) Spectators must be seated throughout the event and not approach the Snooker table at any
time during play.
b) This is a quiet spectator sport. Prompting or shouting from spectators is actively discouraged
and can be penalized.

SQUASH (Men & Women)
a) 3 players from each side will play one another. So, there will be 3 matches (each player plays
1 match only). The winner will be from the best of the 3 matches. All the matches will be
knockout format.
b) First Round: The outcome of each match will be decided from the best of 3 games of 11
points each. All the matches will follow knock out format.
c) Rounds in between: The winning team is decided from best of 3 matches, with each match
winner decided from best of 3 games of 11 points.
d) Finals: The outcome of each match will be decided from the best of a set of 5 games of 11
points each.
e) Team shall comprise of minimum 3 and maximum 5 players. The list should be submitted
before the first match of the tournament.
f) Teams will declare the order in which the 3 players will play to the referee before the start of
the match.
g) The order of players proposed to play particular games will have to be pre-decided and
submitted to Organizing Committee before the beginning of the fixture and cannot be
changed thereafter.
h) The break between points can maximum be of 20 seconds and the break between games
can maximum be of 150 seconds.
i) Entry to court will not be permitted without non-marking shoes.
j) Teams are expected to bring their own racquets.
k) The referees’ decisions will be final and abiding.
l) All other standard Squash rules apply.

SPECTATORS PROTOCOL

a) Spectators will not enter the court until the game is called as completed by the referee(s).
b) Cheering etc., should be restricted to the time between points, and spectators are expected
to remain silent during points.
c) Prompting from spectators is actively discouraged and will be penalized. In extreme case,
match points will be given to the opposition team.

TABLE TENNIS (Unisex)
Each match will comprise of 5 games in the following order:

a) Each game will consist of 5 sets of 11 points each with service changing sides every 2 points
in a game.
b) A player can play a maximum of two games.
c) A minimum of 6 players and a maximum of 8 players have to participate in a match. (min of
3 Men and 3 women)
d) The team winning a greater number of games will be declared as the winner of the match.
e) ‘Dead rubbers’ will not be played in the interests of paucity of time to organize remaining
events in the meet.
f) The order of players proposed to play particular games will have to be pre-decided and
submitted to Organizing Committee before the beginning of the match and cannot be
changed thereafter.
g) In case of injury or incapacity to play occurs during a game, no replacement will be allowed,
and if the player refuses to play (retires hurt), the game will be deemed won by the
opponent. Also, the player will be counted as having played that game.
h) Each team can take a maximum of 1 time out during the course of a game.
i) Teams are expected to bring their own Table-Tennis bats.
j) The referees’ decisions will be final and abiding.
k) If the referee feels the player’s service is not meeting the requirements of the game, a
warning will be given first. If the referee calls foul for subsequent services, the point will be
given to the opposite team.
l) All other standard Table-Tennis rules apply.

SPECTATOR PROTOCOL

a) Spectators will remain outside the area designated for the players. Spectators must not
stand in the space behind the table.
b) Cheering etc., should be restricted to the time between points, and spectators are expected
to remain silent during points.
c) Prompting from spectators is actively discouraged and can be penalized.

THROWBALL (Women only)
a) The teams must consist of 7 players and maximum of 5 substitutes.
b) The match will be played as best of 3 sets of 25 points each. Service change will be counted
as a point (continuous points rule applies).
c) The ball must be thrown above shoulder (no side arms allowed).
d) The ball must be caught with 2 hands and thrown with one hand only.
e) The ball cannot touch any part of the body beyond the palm.
f) Shifting the ball from one hand to another is not allowed.
g) Pushing the ball is not allowed.
h) Two players cannot catch the ball simultaneously.
i) A player cannot turn 360° with the ball in hand.
j) Spinning the ball is allowed, even for service.
k) The ball must be released within 3 seconds of catching.
l) Service only after the whistle has been blown and within 5 seconds of the whistle.
m) While catching service, double touch by two people is not permitted. For all other balls,
double touch by two different people is allowed. Double touch by same person (dubs) is not
allowed.
n) Jumping while catching is not allowed. Jumping while throwing the ball is allowed, including
for service.
o) Line must not be cut during service. This will cause a service break and no re-serve will be
given.
p) If the ball falls within the box, then it is a foul.
q) If a player steps into the box, with or without a ball, it is a foul.
r) The ball can touch the net, except for service.
s) Player in same team can catch the ball after it touches the net and falls back in same court
only if double touch hasn’t happened before. This is not valid for catching a service from the
opposite team.
t) Any ball that falls on the line (either boundary or box) is considered as a foul.
u) The arrangement in each half-court must be 2-3-2 at the time of service.
v) 2-time outs allowed per set.
w) Every player in the court has to serve and rotation is compulsory.
x) Five substitutions allowed per set.

VOLLEYBALL (Men & Women)
Men

a) Each squad will comprise of a maximum of 12 players with 6 active players on the court at
any point of time.
b) Best of 3 sets of 25 points each with last set as decider in the league matches (In case both
team win a set each) and final will be of 5 sets with the last set for 15 points (side change
after 8 points).
c) Service change will be counted as a point (continuous point rules apply).
d) There will be rotation of the players within the court as per standard volleyball rules.
e) On line ball during play as well as during service will be considered right.
f) Net fault: Hitting the top band of the net or taking support from the net is classed as
interfering with play. Line cross will be treated as a foul for any body part when the game is
on.
g) A maximum of 2 players can be designated as Liberos. If the team wishes to use Libero, it
has to decide and declare the designated Libero(s) before commencement of play. The team
may for any reason exchange the original libero with the reserve libero – but only once in
the match.
h) A maximum of 3 substitutions including 1 injury substitution will be allowed in each set per
team. Liberos can only have an injury substitution. A player of the starting line- up may leave
the game, but only once in a set, and re-enter, but only once in a set, and only to his/her
previous position in the line-up.
i) Time outs: A team can take a maximum of 2 time-outs of 30 seconds each in a set. If the set
reaches or runs beyond a deuce, then 1 additional time out will be allowed.
j) In case a player gets injured, a medical time out of 1 minute will be allowed. Medical time-
outs will be limited to 2 per game.
k) The player who undergoes a medical substitution, cannot come back to play the same game.
l) The referee’s decisions will be final and abiding.
m) All other standard Volleyball rules apply.
n) Rotation is compulsory.
o) All other standard Volleyball rules apply.

SPECTATOR PROTOCOL

feet also permitted, in conjunction with the net rule. But if the contact interferes with an

IIM Lucknow Sports Committee reserves the rights to modify rules and regulations during MV
the way it deems fit in case of any unavoidable circumstances.

NOTE: Any sport with less than or equal to 6 participating teams will either be declared a non-
medal sport or will be discarded. No player can play more than 3 sports. Students part of the
institute's Student Exchange Programs will be deemed as part of the contingent. All the
matches will be in either knockout or round robin format, depending on the number of
participation, unless specified otherwise.

Participants are required to show their valid student college id cards with photos for verification
when demanded for verification at any stage by IIM Lucknow sports committee. Further in case
of any dispute, the decision of IIM Lucknow sports committee will be considered as final.
