INTERVIEW: SEAN KEYES
In our school magazine today we are talking to Sean Keyes, 15, who is the winner of the IT competition in our city.
How did you become interested in IT?
Sean: 
I got my own computer for my ninth birthday. At first, I just played some computer games and surfed
the web. After about a year, my dad told me that maybe I should try something more difficult. He works
for an IT company, but he isn’t a programmer. I learnt the basics from my cousin, Dave, who studied IT at
university. I also read a lot on the Internet about programming.
How much time do you spend in front of the computer every day?
Sean: 
Not so much, in fact. We get a lot of homework in our school! I really want to have a normal life, you
know, go out with friends and do sports. So, I usually have only about two hours in the evening for
working on the computer. I hardly ever get enough time to play computer games with my friends!
What are your plans for the future?
Sean: 
It’s difficult to say now. Most of my friends think I’m going to study IT at university, but I don’t really
know yet. I’m only 15. I’m also interested in biology, so maybe I can study medicine? Anyway, this
summer I’m going to spend some time in my dad’s company. I hope to learn a lot about programming.
