Detailed Lesson Plan in Math 3

The lesson plan outlines a math lesson on symmetry for pupils. The objectives are for pupils to identify symmetry and asymmetry, appreciate the importance of symmetry, demonstrate cooperation during group work, and complete symmetrical objects. The lesson will include a review, video presentation, discussion of concepts, guided practice identifying symmetrical and asymmetrical objects, and a group activity to apply their understanding. Pupils will draw mirror images and designs to further develop their understanding of symmetry.

Symmetry
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
a. identify the symmetry and asymmetry in a given shape and real world examples;
b. show appreciation on the importance of symmetry;
c. demonstrate cooperation in doing the group work activity; and
d. complete the missing half of a symmetrical object by applying their understanding of symmetry.

Prayer
Let’s start our day with a prayer
Everybody stand up and lets pray
__________, kindly lead the prayer. Classmate are you ready to pray?
All: Yes we are!
“In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy
Spirit Amen.

Greetings
Good morning class! All: Good Morning Sir!
How’s your day so far? Were Fine Sir!
Does it mean all of your cooperation and
active participation are needed, is that
okay? All: Yes sir!
Energizer
Class do you know the song deep 3x? Yes, sir we know that song.
Everyone let’s sing and dance the
energizer song with energy okay!
Teacher will play the video energizer.
Pupils will sing and dance the video energizer
Checking of Attendance
Class! Do we have an absent today?
None Sir, all are present
Very good! It nice to hear that everyone is
present.

Checking of assignment
Class did I gave you an assignment
yesterday? Yes Sir, we have an assignment yesterday.

Just keep it there and I collect that after the

class. It’s that Okay? Yes! Sir,

Discussion
The teacher will play the video
lesson for today.

Pupils will watch the video lesson about the

symmetry.

These figures are symmetrical in relation

to the dashed line.
Pupils will listen to the teacher discussion.
The line is called a symmetry line. What
does that mean?
Imagine that you folded the figure along
the symmetry line. It can be vertical or
horizontal lines
Then both sides would exactly meet. Or,
if you placed a mirror along the symmetry

line, you would see the other half of the
figure reflected in the mirror.

Examples of symmetrical Figures

when folded in half.

Examples of Asymmetrical Figures

Many figures are not symmetrical at all.

You cannot draw a symmetry line in them.

Application
Example Picture:
I will group you into 3. Each group will
give an envelope and 1/8 card board,
Inside the envelope a picture of an objects
and shapes. You need to identify the
object whether it is symmetrical figure or
asymmetrical figure.

The group will graded through this Rubric

3- Very satisfactory
2- Satisfactory
1- Fair
Criteria 4 3 2 1
1. Cooperation of the
member of the group. Pupils will do their activity.
2. Cleanliness of work

1. Evaluation
