NOTE Crew briefing COMPLETED:
To prevent starter damage, limit starter cranking to 30 second periods. If the engine does not start I will do the flying, you monitor all instruments
within that time, allow a cooling period of several minutes before engaging starter again. Do not engage and report malfunctions loud and clear
the starter immediately after releasing it. This practice may damage the starter mechanism. On my command you read the checklist, do the RT,
set the transponder, tune and identify beacons.

NOTE
For all normal operations using an external power source, the battery master switch should be OFF, but
it is possible to use the ship’s battery in parallel by turning the battery master switch ON. This will give
longer cranking capabilities, but will not increase amperage.
CAUTION
Care should be exercised because if the ship’s battery has been depleted, the external power supply
can be reduced to the level of the ship’s battery. This can be tested by turning the battery master switch
ON momentarily while the starter is engaged. If cranking speed increases, the ship’s battery is at a
higher level
than the external power supply.

LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE ELECTRICAL FAILURES

Land as soon as possible and investigate cause.
Prepare for power off landing. ALT ANNUNCIATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED
Maintain altitude until such time as a dead stick landing can be accomplished. Don't change power AMMETER CHECK to verify alternator failure
settings unnecessarily, as this may hasten complete power loss.
If ammeter show zero:
ALT switch OFF
HIGH OIL TEMPERATURE Reduce electrical loads to minimum
ALT circuit breaker CHECK and RESET as required
Land at nearest airport and investigate the problem. ALT switch ON
Prepare for power off landing.
If power not restored:
LOSS OF FUEL PRESSURE ALT Switch OFF
Auxiliary Fuel Pump UNLATCH, HI
Fuel selector CHECK on full tank If alternator output cannot be restored, reduce electrical loads and land as soon as practical. The
If fuel pressure recovers: battery is the only remaining source of electrical power.
Auxiliary Fuel Pump OFF

ENGINE DRIVEN FUEL PUMP FAILURE b) If If alternator loads are not reduced:
ALT switch OFF
Throttle RETARD
BAT switch as required
Auxiliary Fuel Pump UNLATCH, HI
Land as soon as practical. Anticipate complete electrical failure
Throttle RESET (75% power or below)

If the battery is depleted, the landing gear must be lowered using the emergency extension procedure.
If normal engine operation and fuel flow are not reestablished auxiliary fuel pump should be turned
The gear position lights will be inoperative.
OFF. The lack of a fuel flow indication, while in the HI auxiliary fuel pump position, could indicate a leak
in the fuel system or fuel exhaustion.
CAUTION
DO NOT actuate the auxiliary fuel pump unless vapor suppression is required (LO position) or the
engine-driven fuel pump fails (HI position). The auxiliary pump has no standby function. Actuation of the
HI switch position when the engine is operating normal may cause engine roughness and/or power loss.
CAUTION
If the auxiliary fuel pump switch or primer switch fails causing the auxiliary fuel pump to be activated in
the HI mode while the engine driven fuel pump is operating normally, engine roughness and/or power
loss could occur. Should this condition exist, pull out the fuel pump pull-type circuit breaker, if so
equipped, or shut off the master switch.

If power is not restored, proceed with power off landing procedure.
