The Pakistan Peoples Party writes a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan expressing deep concern about the unannounced disruption of internet and mobile networks across Pakistan on election day. This is negatively impacting voter turnout and access to polling information. The party and other candidates were relying on mobile connectivity for campaign coordination and monitoring the elections. Restoration of these services, as ordered previously, is requested to ensure a fair democratic process.

Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan,

Supreme Court of Pakistan
ISLAMABAD.

Honourable Sir,

Pakistan Peoples Party respectfully convey its deep concern on the unannounced disruptions of internet and
mobile network connectivity today across Pakistan which is severely impacting the General Elections. Due to this
countrywide disruption, voters are unable to access information related to their polling station or coordinate
logistics to access the polling stations.

Your Honour may kindly recall that clear orders for not closing internet on polling day were given by the
Honourable Islamabad High Court in 2018. Services have been closed in violation of these orders.

The discontinuation of network services has created problems for voters, candidates, and electoral staff.
Understandably, without access to internet and mobile networks, voters are unable to access vital information about
polling stations and follow other electoral procedures and coordinatelogistics to access respective polling stations.

The closure has also adversely effected reporting and responding to security incidents. One of our workers was
shot dead in Mirpurkhas today and it was after an hour that we came to know about the murder.

Moreover, Pakistan Peoples Party and other parties as well were relying on mobile connectivity to mobilize our
voters, coordinate campaign efforts, and monitor polling day. All the political parties except PML N have objected
to this unannounced disruptions of internet in the media.

The disruption of mobile network has impacted voter turnout. Inspite of our request to ECP to restore services,
these services have not been resorted.

Your Honour may be pleased to issue instructions in the matter.

Thanks and regards;

SENATOR TAJ HAIDER
