SCOPE OF WORK:
1.) Study of architectural drawing which is provided by department.
2.) Modeling of structure on the basis of architectural planning.
3.) Loading on model as per Indian Standard Codes.
4.) Analysis of Model to find various parameters like support reaction, Base Shear,
Deflection and bending moments for structural member.
5.) Designing of structural model on the basis of the analysis parameter.
6.) Preparation of AutoCAD Drawing for Approval/Advance Copy for approval from
Client and any Institution body.
7.) Preparation of final AutoCAD working drawing after the approval of client.
The proposed Educational building (G+4) storied structure. This building planned with
two staircase. Structural system of this building is basically Ordinary Moment resisting
frame systems consist of Column, Beam & Slabs to resist vertical and lateral loads.
4. FOUNDATION SYSTEM
Foundation design based on the recommendation of soil testing report provided by Kolkata
Central Division-II, Kolkata which is conducted by G.Tech India, Netaji Block, Chowhati,
South 24 Pgs, Kolkata. Pile foundation is provided as per the recommendation of soil
testing agency at a depth of 1.5m with an allowable bearing pressure of 5-7 T/m2 form
shear and settlement criteria.
Concrete cover to the rebar is as follows (As per IS – 456: 2016: Plain & RCC Code of
Practice)
a) Foundation = 50mm
b) Columns = 40mm
c) Beams = 25mm
d) Slabs = 20mm
Modulus of Elasticity of Concrete, Ec = 5000√fck
Concrete Poisson's ratio = 0.20
REINFORCEMENT
Reinforced steel yield strength, fy = 500N/mm2
Modulus of elasticity of steel, Es = 2.05X108 kN/mm2
a) The final deflection due to dead loads and live loads (un-factored) including effects of
temperature, creep & shrinkage measured as cast levels of supports is not more than
Span/250.
b) The deflection including effects of temperature, creep & shrinkage after erection of
Partitions and the application of finishes is not more than span/350 or 20mm, whichever
Is less.
Story Drift in any storey shall not exceed 0.004 times the Storey height, under the action
Of design base of shear VB with no load factors.
7. METHOD OF ANALYSIS
a) Building shall be analyzed as RCC framed structure. Static analysis shall be carried
out as per IS 1893:2016. The beams and columns frame arrangement and design shall
be done using STAAD.Pro V8i (SELECT Series 6) version 20.07.11.82.
b) All the RCC columns of the building are supported on Pile foundation as per the
bearing capacity as specified by soil investigation report provided to us. The
foundation is typically designed for the reaction obtained from predominant load case,
by using in house spread sheet and STAAD software.
c) Serviceability & strength checks of foundation & members shall be carried out as per
IS 456: 2016
Parameter Value
Z i.e. Zone Factor 0.16 (For zone II)
I i.e. Importance Factor 1.5
R i.e. Response Reduction Factor 5
Soil Type Soft soil
Analysis type Static Analysis
Fundamental natural time period is taken as Ta =0.09h/√d as per clause 7.6.2 of IS: 1893-
2016, for R.C.C Frame Building. h = Height of building in meter. [Refer fig. 5(a)]. Response
Spectrum reduction factor is taken as 5.0 from table-9 of IS: 1893-2016 for Moment
Resisting Frames. The Time period of the structure has been worked out using software. The
building shall be designed for base shear based on code time period in accordance with clause
7.7.3 of IS: 1893-2016 using modification factor = V̅B/VB where ,VB is calculated base shear
based on code time period Ta =0.09h/√d and VB is calculated base shear based on time
period given by software. The horizontal earthquake force has been calculated for the full
dead load & Reduce live load as per clause 7.3.1 Table-10 of IS: 1893-2016. Importance
Factor of 1.5 has been considered as per Clause 7.2.3(ii) of IS 1893:2016.
The limit state load combinations used for design of concrete structural elements such as
beams & columns are as per IS: 875 Part 5 and IS: 456. They are listed below.
Various load combinations considered are as follows:-
1. 1.0 (D.L+ Reduced L.L) (For Superstructure Design/Serviceability Criteria )
2. 1.2 (D.L + L.L E.Q in X-direction)
3. 1.2 (D.L + L.L E.Q in Z-direction)
4. 1.2 (D.L + L.L E.Q in X-direction)
5. 1.2 (D.L + L.L E.Q in Z-direction)
