divide into three groups. Each play the game.)
group will have three cards with
the letters At, On, and In. I will
flash some sentences with a blank
in the board that you need to
answer by raising the card that
you think is correct. The first group
who raised the card will shout
"Huuuuyyyyyyy" and if it's correct
they will get the point. The group
who earns a higher score wins.

Alright! It seems that you enjoy the

for us to understand it more.

A.5 Review

Let us now have a short review.

What did we discuss in our last "From what I remember, we discussed the
meeting? adverbs ma'am."

Very good! What is an adverb "It is a word which modifies the meaning
again? of a verb, an adjective or another adverb."

Correct, can someone give an "Ella runs quickly."

example of a sentence that
contains an adverb?

What is the adverb in your "Quickly ma'am. "

sentence "Ella runs quickly"?

Very good! Quickly is an adverb

that shows how Ella runs, and
quickly modifies the verb runs.
B. Lesson Proper
B.1 Motivation

"Class I have here some pictures.

Analyze the picture and guess
what it represents."

"Clock"
"Alarm"

"Date"

"Days"

"Calendar "

All of your answers are correct.

But what do you think of their "Hours"
relationships? "Months"
"Days"
Another try, hint is close to the
hours. "Time ma'am"

Very good! So our topic for today

is the preposition of time.

B.2 Discussion
Before I'm going to discuss the
preposition of time.

What do we mean when we say

prepositions? Preposition is a word used to link phrases
to other words within a sentence.
Correct, in other words
prepositions are like words that
help put a sentence together.

First, we will learn its rules and

how to use them.

There are three prepositions of

time and probably you know most
of them.
When to used AT?
AT EXACT TIME

At 8 o'clock

At 11 p.m.

At Midnight

at - is the precise time.

So we use it to signify the time. In
other words it is the exact time and
specific time. Here we will mention
the exact hour or time when
something happened .
ex.
Let's meet at 10 a.m.
I start my work at 8 o'clock.

Exceptions are when we say – at

the weekend, at night, at
Christmas, at Easter, at the
moment, etc.

Like for example "Where will you

be at Christmas?"

Sometimes we don’t use a

preposition of time, for example
after the word next/this/last/every.
Ex.
I’ll see you next Friday.

Can someone give an example

using the word at?
"I get up at 6 o'clock every morning."
Very good! Another one.
"The class starts at 7:30 a.m."
Excellent! The second preposition
of time is in.

When to used IN?

IN PERIOD OF
TIME
in Summer, SEASONS
Spring

in January, MONTHS
March

in 1980, 2000, YEARS

2020

in the morning, PERIOD

afternoon, DURING THE
evening. DAY

in 5 minutes, 5 FUTURE
weeks, 5 years

In - is for months, years, centuries,

and seasons.
Ex.
I am going on a holiday in May.
The garden looks lovely in spring.
In 1980, my grandma passed
away.

Some very common exceptions

are in the morning, in the evening,
in the afternoon, in five minutes, in
six days, in two years, etc.

Any questions?

Would you like me to repeat? "None ma'am."

Since there is no question, give "No ma'am."

three examples using the word "in"
that modify the month, years, and
season. "I was born in September."
"I feel tired in summer."
Very good! "My aunt is going home in 2023."

The last preposition of time is ON.

When to used ON?
ON DAYS /
DATES

on Monday, on Days
my birthday

on Christmas Days
Day, on New
Year's Day

on the 25th of Dates

June

on the first day Dates

of January

ON is for days and dates.

Generally it indicates the fixed
date. This can also be used to
describe when something may
have happened.
Ex.
See you on Friday.
I don't work on Sundays.
My birthday is on the 25th of June.

Roy, give an example using the "My class is on Tuesday."

word on.

Very good! Anna, give an example "I love playing volleyball in summer."
using the word in.

Very good! How about at, can you "The tv show that I love starts at 12 noon."
give a sentence using the word
"at" Angela?

Very good!

C. Generalization
(The 3 students answer the question.)
What have we learned for today?
(Teacher will call for at least 3
students to answer.)

All of the answers are correct.

Remember the rules, when we say
"at" it is used for specific time like
6 o'clock, when we say "in" it is
used for larger periods of time or
not specific for example in March,
and when we say "on" it is used
for small periods of time like on
Wednesday.

D. Value Integration

Why do we need to study this? (The 3 students answer the question.)

Very good! Now we learned how

and when to use prepositions of
time that are best to be used in
different situations.

E. Application

Students, using the displayed (Students will work with their and
rules of preposition of time, work construct a sentence.)
together with your group and
create three sentences for each
preposition of time AT, IN, and
ON. I'll give you 10 minutes and
then present it to the class.

Am I clear? "Yes ma'am."

Do you want me to repeat it? "No ma'am"

Okay, you can start now. (Students start collaborating with their
peers.)

IV. Evaluation
Write the following sentences and fill in the blanks with prepositions of time at, in,
and on.
1. I am leaving __ Friday.
2. I always feel tired __ the evening.
3. Maria was born __ 2005.
4. I went to the doctor __ 8 o’clock this morning.
5. I can’t go to church __ Sunday.

7. The shop closes __ 5 PM.
8. I will get a holiday __ December.
9. I have a meeting __ 25 October.
10. He broke up with me __ Monday morning.
