Tell us about a change in your circumstances

Please visit www.islington.gov.uk/counciltax to let us know of any change in circumstances that you think may
affect your council tax bills, these must be reported within 21 days of taking place. If you want to claim a
Single Persons Discount tell us immediately. We will be unable to award your discount if the date you are
claiming from is too far in the past and there is not enough evidence to support your claim. If you are claiming
Council Tax Support you must let us know if, for example, you start work, your income goes up or down, or
people leave or join your household. You may be liable for prosecution if you do not tell us.

How your Council Tax Support (CTS) was worked out

We calculated your CTS by comparing your income, after any discounts or exemptions, to your charge for the
period. We also considered the circumstances of any other people that live in your household. Any CTS you are
awarded will be credited to your council tax account. Any CTS you've been overpaid will be debited from your
council tax account. If you want to know about the way CTS was worked out for you, write to us within 4 weeks
of the date of this bill. Please do not email.

What to do if you think the decision about your CTS is wrong?

Write to us explaining why you think it is wrong. If we decide that it is wrong we will send you a new bill, if we
don’t, we will respond explaining why. If this is the case and you wish to appeal our decision or you don’t hear
back from us within two months, you have another two months to appeal to the Valuation Tribunal Service by
calling 0300 123 2035 where a final decision can be made. You must continue to pay the amounts listed on

* Increase in council tax to fund Adult Social Care

The council tax attributable to Islington includes a precept to fund adult social care. For adult social care
authorities, council tax demand notices show two percentage changes: one for the part of the overall change
attributable to the adult social care precept, and one for the part attributable to general expenditure.
