Answer the following questions:

Q1). Work out

(a) -5 x (6 - 9 ) (b) [5 x(- 3)] ÷ (-3) (c) (4 -20) ÷ (-4)

Q2). Write as single power of 8.

(a) 82 x 83 (b) 86÷ 82 (c) 1 (d) (83)3

Q3). (a) Write 47 as a power of 2. (b) Write 96 as a power of 3.

Q4). The length and breadth of a rectangular plot of land is 8.3 m and 5.1 m respectively. Estimate the area and
perimeter.

Q5) Find the H.C.F and L.C.M of 248 and 48 by prime factorization method as well as factor tree method.

Q6) Find the greatest number that can divide 135 and 25 without leaving any remainder.

Q7). Simplify: 18.6-4.8×3÷4+7.2-0.6(0.3+0.5)

Q8). Find the quotient of the square root of 144 and cube root of 64. Also how much should be added to the cube root of 343
to get square root of 625?

Q9) Round off as stated: (i) 0.00125(2s.f) (ii) 6.495 (3,sf) (iii) 7.000089(5s.f)

Q10) Estimate the quotient of 3749 and 39.

Q11). The area of a parallelogram is 435.5cm2.. If the length of it’s base is 2.5 cm, find the height.

Q12) Solve x and y:


(a) 43 x 4x ÷ 45 = 47 (b) y3 x 23 = 63

Q13) 210 oranges, 252 apples and 294 pears are equally packed in cartons so that no fruit is left. What is the
maximum possible no. of fruits that can be packed in each carton?

Q14) Sam can jump 4 steps at a time and Nina can jump 5 steps at a time. On which of the steps will both meet if
both start jumping together?
