I never thought I would be someone who would track what I did in my life.

I never

really understood why some people recorded everything they did. After recording my

time diary using 3 different days of my usual routine, I was able to learn and conclude a

lot about my life that I didn't realize. From how the overall things that I did and do affect

big and little things such as my emotions and all around health. I became so oblivious to

some of the everyday habits and routines I had.

Overall I was really surprised in the end with the data I collected. I never

realized how much time I actually spent alone. I thought I spent far more time with other

people. I have always been surrounded by people, especially before I left for college. As

well as before covid. I think since covid that I now find myself going on my own a lot just

like I did the year and a half before I left college. However I don't know if these habits of

me disappearing on my own would be like this if I hadn't done it and made it a routine in

my life from the covid lock down. Another surprise to me was the lack of time I spend on

technology. From the time I use technology in classes to take notes or do homework I

thought I spent far too much time on my technology. However I spent way less time on

technology than I ever imagined. Especially adding my free time that I am on technology

to when I use it for school. However, compared to the “American Time Use Survey” 3

out of the 2 days I recorded I participate in more leisure time per day than the average

person. On the track I was going I would probably spend more time participating in

leisure activities than the average person does per week. The main activities I

participate in are the same as the average person watching tv. But overall I was really

surprised by some of this data.

My stress and emotional state was very low. I realized the week I must have

concluded data was a week I didn’t have any exams or a lot of homework. During my

classes I am not very affected by stress however I am not overly happy or upset to be in

class. However when I socialize with people at work my emotions were higher than they

usually were. Also when I was experiencing leisure activities like ping pong or bigger or

better; However, I was also stressed from time to time in these activities. I believe I was

stressed though due to my competitiveness and not wanting to lose. These were some

of the times my stress was higher than it was on a daily basis.Overall I don’t really seem

to be happy. I seem to just be in motion of my everyday life and schedule except for the

events that don’t tend to happen on a daily basis or routine in my life. I didn’t realize

how much of a robot I am. Like I know I did a lot of repetitive things but looking at it

tracked and seeing that I had very little emotion as well really concerns me.

After seeing and analyzing the data I took from time diary 1. I am able to see that

the leisure activities I participate in really affect my well being and health. It helps to

bring down my stress and allows for my emotions to rise most of the time. I also didn't

realize I only tend to mainly socialize when I am participating in leisure activities.

Socializing has a lot of benefits for increasing lifespan. It will also help decrease my

overall stress levels and increase my emotions, helping the chances of me being

depressed a less risk in my life. Allowing me to be able to help myself maintain a steady

and good mental health. College can become very lonely fast, especially not dating

someone, and being a person who works better alone in time crunches. Socializing

allows me to feel included, wanted, and loved. It gives me the hope and mindset that I

am not lonely and I have everything I need. Leisure activities are something that also
mentally helps me. I tend to find myself escaping to these activities when my brain hits

overload especially in school. An outlet before my stress level gets out of control

causing me to hit an emotional roller coaster. Getting fresh air and taking a break from

school work helps me perform better in the long run. Giving myself that chance to

regroup and sometimes just forget and let go of whatever was going on that sent me

into overload.

I am very glad I had the opportunity to create a time diary. I now have a better

idea of my everyday habits, the good and bad ones. I can now implant changes into my

daily routine to help me as a person benefit better physically and mentally health.

Hopefully now I can become a less robotic version of myself. Take the step to move on

and eliminate some of the bad habits in my life, especially the ones because of covid.

Meaning time to be social, no more going in a room for hours of a time by yourself. I

really am excited to see how I am able to grow as a person. I am still pretty young and

have so much of my life left to explore. However this has given me an idea of things I

can do to help make me a happier healthier person all around
