The document provides guidelines for a final research proposal project assignment. It outlines 18 points covering: 1) selecting a study title and background; 2) developing a problem statement based on theory and past studies; 3) stating study objectives and rationale; 4) conducting a brief literature review and identifying gaps; 5) outlining a methodology including design, data collection sources, population/sampling, and analysis methods; 6) following APA style formatting; 7) keeping the proposal under 3,000 words; 8) submitting as an electronic document with signatures; 9) presenting the proposal and slides within a prescribed timeframe. Adherence to margins, spacing, font, and justification is also required.

Final Research Proposal Project Assignment Guidelines
1. Select the title of your proposed study
2. Background of the study • Write briefly about the theory/empirical evidences of proposed area of study. Explain the context issue of the proposed study. • At the end, draw need to study in the proposed area of study. 3. Problem statement • The statement of the problem should be based on theory and empirical evidence, if any, there should be references of past studies. Write the background/context issues, explain the issue and raise the questions. • Refer to slide presentation unit 5 4. Study objectives • Write study objectives based on the problem statement above • Mention one main objective (refer to title of the study) and two specific objectives (Dependent on the nature and scope of the study) • Refer to slide presentation unit 5 5. Rationale for the study project • Justify the proposed study, i.e., the reason for conducting the proposed research. 6. Brief literature survey (if required) • Review of theory – write theoretical background of your proposed study • Review of empirical evidences – mention results of previous studies very critically (you can present critical review based on variables or methods or regions or chronological time frame) • Write problem, basic methodology and findings of the previous findings, compare the previous studies and mention your own review comment in one sentence. • Draw conclusion from literature review, i.e., research gap. 7. Study methodology • A plan outlining how and when each step of the report will be performed: • Study design – Quantitative or Qualitative or Mixed method research (refer to slide presentation unit 2, unit 3, and unit 4) • Nature and sources of data collection – Mention data nature of your proposed study either, secondary data, or primary data (quantitative or qualitative or both) and how are you going to collect the required data for your proposed study. If your study is based on primary data, mention the details of instrument preparation, its’ validity and reliability. • Population and sample selection technique – Mention population and sample size of your study, sample adequacy test or justification of sample size based on past studies. Write sample selection technique. • Study framework and definition of variables – Present your conceptual framework in figure and define operation definition of study variables (based on literature review). • Methods of analysis – Write data analysis model, formula (if regression equation, mention the expected sign (+ve, or –ve, or no-relationship) between the variables based on the existing literatures, prepare one table with references). 8. Report writing format must follow the APA style in the in-text citations, references, tables and figures. The guidelines on APA style can be obtained from the website of the American Psychological Association (APA): http://apastyle.apa.org/ or http://blog.apastyle.org/ 9. Maximum length of the proposal should not exceed 3,000 words (excluding references, figures or tables). 10. The research proposal report shall be a typescript paper document. Students should be submitted in an electronic format with their signature in each page. Within that prescribe time, students need to submit presentation slides along with research proposal. Otherwise, the concern faculty is not responsible for their final grade. 11. Typing is to be done on one side of each sheet only, with pages numbered consecutively throughout the report. The following minimal margins are to be observed: Left 1 cm, Top 1 cm, Bottom 1 cm, Right 1 cm 12. The report must be 1.5 spaced. Single spacing may be used only in the Table of Contents, footnotes and endnotes, charts, graphs, tables, quotations, appendices, and reference. 13. Text material should be typed on one side of the paper. The manuscript is to be neat in appearance and without error. 14. Typing should be done using the Times New Roman and font size of 12 pt or equivalent, except for text for in the tables. Tables can use a smaller size than 12 pt to accommodate the larger volume of contents. 15. Except for text in the tables, all other texts must always be justified. 16. Students should present their proposal report as on prescribe date, Faculty or FOML, NOU is not responsible, if any students absent on that exam schedule time or not able to present. There is not possible to provide any kind of alternative to those absenteeism students for their final grade and faculty is not responsible. 17. The presentation slide should be in ppt and consider the following: • Slide 1: Title and Presenter’s name • Slide 2: Research Gap • Slide 3: Problem Statement • Slide 4: Objectives • Slide 5: Conceptual Framework • Slide 6: Methods o Research design - Quantitative or Qualitative or Mixed method research, Justify • Slide 7: Methods o Nature and sources of data collection – Mention data nature of your proposed study either, secondary data, or primary data (quantitative or qualitative or both) and how are you going to collect the required data for your proposed study. If your study is based on primary data, mention the details of instrument preparation, its’ validity and reliability. • Slide 8: Methods o Population and sample selection technique – Mention population and sample size of your study, sample adequacy test or justification of sample size based on past studies. Mention sample selection technique. • Slide 9: Methods o Methods of analysis – Write data analysis model, formula (if regression equation, mention the expected sign (+ve, or –ve, or no-relationship) between the variables based on the existing literatures, prepare one table with references) • Presentation time: 10 Minutes • Presentation slides should be upload in Module along with proposal
