This specification has been prepared by Directorate of Clothing &
Victualling (Navy) on the authority of The Chief of the Naval Staff.
‘This specification is for use by the Indian Navy.
This specification would be used for manufacture, quality assurance and
procurement of the item.

This standard prescribes the design, constructional details
and other particulars of the Improved Two Piece Rain Suit’,
herein referred as “Rain Suit", The “Rain Suit” comprises

MATERIAL AND MANUFACTURE
The design and shape of the “Rain Suit” shall be as per Figs. 1 to
4, The dimensional measurements of Jacket and Trouser of Rain
Suit is given are Tables 1 to 7.
Laminated Outer shell Fabric: 100% Polyester fabric with
membrane lamination shall be used for the manufacturing of Rain
Suit. The polyester fabric before lamination shall be ‘Heat set’ and
fully shrunk. The colour of the fabric shall meet the requirements
as per the Table 9.
Lining: 100% polyester knitted mesh and 100% polyester-Plain
weave fabric (taffeta) shall be used. For guidance 80 denier
multifilament yarn for knitted mesh and 50 denier multifilament
yarns (in both warp & welt) for woven fabric may be used for the
manufacture.
Retro-reflective tape: Prismatic type grey colour reflective tape of
5042 mm wide shall be used. It shall pass the criteria as
mentioned in the Table-8D. The placement of retro-refl
is shown in the Figures 1, 2 and 3.

finished with double layer fabric, same as used in the outer shell
fabric of trouser. Draw string shall be used for the fitting (to tight

(Adjuster) and ends of the draw string shall be secured with a loop
of 102mm wide, stitched 35+2mm from the lower edge of waist

3.6 Hood: An integrated hood is attached and can be stowed within the

base of the hood. The integrated hood also has mesh lining. The

the hood is used.
3.7 The raglan sleeve of the jacket of ‘Rain suit’ shall be made using
laminated outer-shell fabric, mesh lining and taffeta lining. The
sleeves of ‘Rain Suit’ Jacket shall be elasticized with elastic tape
(4012 mm wide) at front side of the cuff. Back side of the cuff shall
be provided with adjustable tabs with hook and loop tape (252
mm wide) for tightening or loosening of cuff. The inner side of the

3.9 Pockets of Jacket & Trousers: The Jacket of ‘Rain Suit’ shall be
provided with one flap pocket at chest level. Pocket shall be
stitched just below the reflective tape. One pocket window with
transparent material (sce through pocket using LDPE sheet, which
shall not tear or crack during uses) shall be stitched at the centre
of the chest pocket. For more clarification, sample held in the
