College Education Problems
Why the education system is flawed many students over the years due to the poor
support they provided? The education system in the United States has problems over
the years because it has some flaws of helping students to succeed. Students who
attend community college or university will have issues that will cause them to be in
debt or could not complete it. The system tried many ways to bring students
accomplish their degree, but the problem is that students face issues that will affect
their goal of reaching their degree. The system has changed in order to fix some
problems; however, the results make the prices for most colleges so high that not many
students could afford. Not many students are rich because most students are on the
benefits from social security or working. Students who need help are most likely be the
ones who will fail at a higher rate of the lack of support from college. Most colleges are
not doing the right job to solve the system; however, they did make some input such as
financial aid and tuition for certain classes. Many college students drop out of school
due to problems exist such as the lack of preparation, lack of globalism language, and
financial aid needs.
First, the problem of the education system has enrolled new students that were
unprepared in most colleges. Community college (or four year college) is a school that
brought students from high school to learn advanced education by learning the college
basics and focusing on their career.
Questions On The Final Exam
Omar Alharthi Prof. Hagstrom LING 408 12.7.2014 Final Exam Part 1 Discuss
briefly any four of the following topics (about 100 300 words each). Provide examples
to illustrate your discussion. a.Aspect: Aspect grammatical category of verbs denotes
the flow of time related to the event they express. Unlike tense that is semantically
rather related to the event in time, aspect is about time moving through the event
(Riemer 314). The difference between, for example, I walked and I was walking is in
our view of the two events, the first as an event that happened in a certain point in the
past while the second viewed with an emphasis on the temporal sense of the event
over which it happened. Distinctions can be made between perfective and
imperfective aspect. The marking of the two and appearance is different among
languages. For example, Mandarin Chinese offers two perfective markers; le and guo.
However, in English, perfective aspect forms are those verbs in the simple form like
read, ate, walk... and imperfective forms are progressive forms such as am walking,
was reading, were eating... It is crucial to understand that the completion or duration of
the event does not distinguish between perfective and imperfective aspect because both
can be expressed by either form. For, example, the use of struggled in the sentence Ali
struggled during his fourth round clearly shows that the perfective form can be used to
express an event that happened over a period of time. there is also
Jacob Riis Social Reform Movement
As photography was being used more and more as a method of documentation, they were
among the first to use it to push social reform efforts. They closely documented the
devastating effects of industrialization and urbanization on the working class American.
Through their work they brought attention to the need for housing and (child) labor laws.
They used their medium to bring real proof to the public and legislators, where it needed
to be seen. Actually, instead of documentary photography, it may best be called social
reform photography, as they both worked tirelessly and used the medium to force
attention and to effect social change.
Riis used photography to illustrate his social reform documentary writing, he was not
originally a photographer, but he saw the drama and sense of proof photographs

Hines interest in photography led to him starting a camera club at the school where he
taught. Taking his students on day trips to shoot, led them to Ellis Island, here he became
interested in the plight of immigrants, and he was instrumental in changing attitudes
towards immigrants. During this period his social conscience grew simultaneously with
his craft. This resulted in being hired by the National Child Labour Committee in 1908.
He took on the job of photographing children in factories and other work places. A very
dangerous job at the time, as aggression from the factory owners was constant. He
photographed laborers, (children, women and adults) in factories, coalmines, canneries,

Birt-Hogg-Dube Syndrome
Birt Hogg Dubé (BHD) syndrome is a rare inherited autosomal dominant disorder
caused by germline mutations in the folliculin (FLCN) gene (Nookala et al., 2012;
Nickerson et al., 2008; Menko et al., 2012; Hartman et a., 2009). Patients with BHD
initially develop fibrofolliculomas, typically as benign facial tumors, and lung cysts;
whereby, increasing their risk to develop renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and pneumothorax
(Nookala et a., 2012; Menko et al., 2012; Hartman et al., 2009). The majority of the BHD
patient population contain germline mutations in FLCN exon 11, which is a hotspot for
disease causing mutations. BHD research predicts mutations in FLCN results in a
truncated folliculin proteinlacking its c terminal end, thus, suggestion the... Show more

Mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) is a serine/threonine kinase in which this
catalytic subunit forms into two distinct multiprotein complexes, mTORC1 and
mTORC2 (Laplante et al., 2009 and Bar Peled et al., 2014). The two multiprotein
complexes share many similarities, but are still distinct from one another. Both
complexes regulate anabolic processes such as cell survival, metabolism and
proliferation. However, mTORC2 is known to play a key role in cytoskeleton
organization to regulate cellular spatial growth (Laplante et al., 2009 and? ). While
they share many functions, only mTORC1 coordinates these anabolic functions with
upstream inputs such as: growth factors, energy status, and amino acid availability.
mTORC1 is composed of five components: mTOR, the catalytic subunit; regulator
associated protein of mTOR (RAPTOR), scaffolding subunit; mammalian lethal with
Sec13 protein 8 (mLST8); and two endogenous kinase inhibitors proline rich AKT
substrate 40kDa (PRAS40) and DEP domain containing mTOR interacting protein
(DEPTOR) (Laplante et al., 2009 and Bar Peled et al., 2014 (5,6,7,8,9) and more). In
order to effectively control cellular physiology, mTORC1 activation triggers a
downstream signaling cascade to control such anabolic processes as protein synthesis
and ribosomal biogenesis (). However, mTORC1 signaling cascade is regulated by
small GTPase Rheb located at the lysosome surface and functions as a mTORC1
kinase activity stimulator under its active GTP bound state (Bar Peeled et al., 2014).
Nevertheless, Rheb is also negatively regulated by tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) 1
and 2 by exerting is
