ACKNOWLEDGEMENT benefit from what the Royal Commission on Truth and Reconciliation defines as
the “cultural genocide” of Indigenous peoples in this country.

At Confederation College, we accept our responsibility in a national reconciliation

process and acknowledge that we are accountable for this tragic history. We
are working to address injustices against Indigenous peoples and honouring our
relationships with communities.

In renewing and building reconciliation processes, we are respecting the leadership

of Indigenous peoples in changing the educational landscape. It is against this
backdrop that Confederation College acknowledges that it is on Indigenous land

Blackboard
There are two ways in which online learning can take
place: synchronous or asynchronous environments.
In a synchronous environment, students and
instructors have instantaneous or “real-time”
interaction. There is a set class time that students
are expected to attend virtually. In an asynchronous
class, there is no weekly lecture to attend and you
work at your own pace according to the deadlines in
your syllabus.

Blackboard is Confederation College’s primary

academic e-learning tool. Within it, College
faculty can setup ‘virtual’ classrooms where

Paying your educational costs is an important part of being a student at Confederation College.
A budget is a tool that will help you plan and manage your finances. Creating your own budget

There are many different ways to keep track of your budget but the most important thing to
remember is to choose one and stick to it. You can use a pen and paper, budgeting apps, or your

COUNSELLING AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

Stress is a regular part of life as a student; what is important is to seek

out positive ways to cope and handle the stresses that arise from school,
work, family, and life, while you are a student. College can certainly be

your work load. If you are struggling or need support with a personal
issue the Counselling Department provides professional, confidential,
and friendly services that are available to all Confederation College
students that live within Ontario. Additionally, we are proud to continue
our commitment to student mental health and wellness through Mental
Health Crisis Navigator services. The goal of this role is to work
towards a whole-campus approach in effectively managing
mental health crises, and to safely connect students with
supports available either on campus or in the community.
