Defect Report BMS2000 - II Backlight Defective

The vessel MV Express reported an issue with the backlight of their BMS2000-II monitor on the bridge console. After replacing batteries last month, the monitor display was found to be not working upon turning equipment back on. Troubleshooting revealed the edge of the LED backlight lamp was burned out. Spare parts for the backlight, an LQ121SIDG41 type, were not available on board. As a result, the BMS2000-II monitor display remains blacked out until a replacement part can be sourced.

04 SEPTEMBER 2023 – Underway to Turkey
Last August 25, 2023 at port we renewed batteries for General Use battery and the procedure to
replace of General Batteries is to turn off the affected equipment at bridge. After completion of
works and turn on all equipment, we noticed that the display monitorof BMS2000-II was not
working.

ACTION
Checked power supply of BMS2000-II monitor 24VDC found OK. Trouble shooting carried out,
we opened and checked backlight found edge of LED lamp was burnout we tried to checked
some spare part of backlight but we cannot find and we don’t have spare on board.

Backlight Type: LQ121SIDG41

As of now, the display monitor of BMS2000-II was totally blackout.
