Examinations and a culture of merit remain greatly valued in China today. In recent years,
a number of New Confucians (not to be confused with Neo Confucianism) have
advocated that democratic ideals and human rights are quite compatible with traditional
Confucian Asian values . With the rise of European economic and military power
beginning in the mid 19th century, non Chinese systems of social and political
organization gained adherents in China. Some of these would be reformers totally
rejected China s cultural legacy, while others sought to combine the strengths of Chinese
and European cultures. In essence, the history of 20th century China is one of
experimentation with new systems of social, political, and economic organization that
would allow for the reintegration of the nation in the wake of dynastic collapse.

Teas culture
Tea is the agricultural product of the leaves, leaf buds, and internodes of various
cultivars and sub varieties of the Camellia sinuses plant, processed and cured using
various methods (Tea Guardian, 2010). Tea also refers to the aromatic beverage
prepared from the cured leaves by combination with hot or boiling water, and is the
common name for the Camellia sinuses plant itself. After water, tea is the most widely
consumed beverage in the world. It has a cooling, slightly bitter, astringent flavor which
many enjoy (Penelope Ody, 2000).
There are at least six varieties of tea: white, yellow,
Lung Cancer Changed My Life
You never think it will happen to you. 27 year old man killed in freak lightning strike. 24
year old surfer killed by rare shark attack. 40 year old man killed by RARE skin cancer.
But then it does. You don t expect it and you are definitely not ready for it. The next
many years are difficult, full of tears and grief, and full of questions... After eleven, it has
improved. However, I still ask, Why? Why did it have to be a RARE cancer? Who has
even heard of nasal cancer? Why did he die to a disease he spent his life seeking to cure?

All the lights, beaming, burning down on the shy 10 year old, frozen in the sudden
spotlight, unsure whether to sing, or to run off the stage. Expectations all of a sudden
changed from just a part of the choir now to leading the choir, through this unexpected
solo. In a sense that s what it felt like, I was thrust into the role of man of the house
after my older brother went off to college and later medical school, and I wasn t quite
ready for it. There was only time to learn on my own and take what my older brother
taught me to be responsible in the household. All of a sudden, everything was put in a
stronger light, and it felt as if I was watched, and critiqued more than I used to be. For
me to be the man my family wished me to be, it was either grow up, or give up; there
was no time to be a baby, there was no time to take my time. The edge to do the right
thing was mightier than it may have been for another 10 year old. From watching over
the house when my mom wasn t home, to taking care of my brother everyday, my days
now consisted of homework, housework, and a daycare role for my brother. Yet given
the circumstances, this 10 year old persevered. He disregarded the new spotlight, the new
intensified responsibilities, and instead of running off the stage, embraced the role, and
embodied the new responsibilities instead of shying away from them. Seven years
Internal And External Conflict In Shakespeare s Hamlet
In the play Hamlet, William Shakespeare projects society during his time period onto the
major conflicts of the characters. The play provides an array of internal and external
conflicts reflected in the characters and the storyline. Shakespeare illustrates the internal
and external conflicts within the characters through the use of motif and literary devices
such as soliloquy. The conflicts observed from the plot and characters mimic the religious
and political attitudes during Shakespeare s era.
Throughout Hamlet, Shakespeare depicts the internal conflicts within the characters
through the use of soliloquy. Shakespeare mastered the use of soliloquy in this work by
conveying and portraying the contradictions in the mental processes of Hamlet and
Claudius. The author s use of soliloquies illustrates the internal conflict within Hamlet
and further emphasizes the common themes revolving around revenge and doubt. In
Act 3: Scene 3, Shakespeare incorporates a soliloquy where Hamlet s internal conflict
of doubt and revenge is evident: Now might I do it pat. Now he is a praying. And now
I ll do t. And so he goes to heaven. And so am I revenged. That would be scanned
(Puchner 711). Hamlet attempts to kill Claudius while he is vulnerable, however, he
hesitates and ponders with the contradictions of religion. Shakespeare illustrates the
contradiction of the desire for revenge and the hesitation for revenge. He draws in
religion by bringing focus to sin and the afterlife. Hamlet s
