Last Monday, I got to experience a sensational performance by the University
Symphony, composed by Dr. Jonathan Pasternack, that enhanced my knowledge and
emotional state through the uniqueness of both the symphony and opera act. Having
only experienced a symphony once during the course of my life, I was ecstatic to
attend such a soothing and joyful concert. The concert was fairly short, it last two
hours, and consisted of 2 symphony songs and 1 opera act. The first two were
symphony, which were played in a very unpredictable manner. The melody (violins)
started off very slow and quickly increased their tempo. The orchestraperformed many
instances of crescendo and decrescendos; this kept the audience on the edge of their seats

The opera in one act was hilarious and made the orchestra a lot more entertaining to
listen to. It made the entire audience feel at ease because the opera was an act
accompanied by a consistently steady tempo from the orchestra: there wasn t a two part
section, slow and steady beat, but consist texture. Overall, the performance turned out a
success. Both the symphony and opera act enhanced the audience with the feeling of
warmth and laughter. The symphony made me to realize how each section is structured
and in order, while the opera act was simple, yet made it very delightful to listen to. Also,
It s amazing how different the symphony and opera act turned out. The symphony
followed a four movement pattern: fast, slow, minuet/dance, fast, while the opera
combined both musical and singing element. In essence, the combination of voice and
strings as well as the unstructured nature and freedom of the opera led me to emotionally
connect with all three pieces of the

Disney s Business Factors The Disney Corporation is a leader in both the family
entertainment and the movie media industries. They are internationally acclaimed for
their amusement parks and resorts, media networks, studio entertainment, and interactive
media (Bahera, 2012, para. 1). Through Walt Disney s vision, drive, creativity, and
passion, Disney has become one of the world s most successful multi media
corporations. Disney established its core values from the beginning, and they are still
lived today. Since Walt Disney s departure in 1966, Disney has had several leaders,
including the current CEO, Bob Iger, who have duplicated Walt s style and have ... Show

There is no material competition to Disney because of this. The price of entry into this
entertainment market is high, and no corporation is big enough to pay it. The biggest
external threat to Disney currently is the recession. While American parks are not too
negatively affected in a downturn economy, its international parks struggle financially.
Disney s share price has fallen by 14% in the past year. Expanding its online business
and earning more money through traditional media could offset these losses. It
certainly is in a better place to bounce back from the current economic recession than
most other big media firms. Because Disney has a decentralized approach to its
organization, keeps its employees actively involved, and empowers its managers to show
appreciation and recognition of others, Disney s core is solid and its foundation is
strong, and it should continue to reign as one of the most admired organizations in the
world.
For Disney s management to produce a good end product and to maintain that product,
they have to implement control. At this stage in the management process control is not
necessarily micro managing, though it is a form. Control is about guiding employees.
The path of the organization, in this case Disney, has already been set. By keeping
employees on that path, it exemplifies control. It is ironic that Disney maintains the
happiest place on earth mentality, but it is one of the hardest places to maintain that
Signs Of Homelessness
One of the main reasons people from around the world struggle to come to the United
States is that the American dream has given hope to people who came to this world
with no privilege. There is fear that the American dream might be slipping away due to
the fact that unemployment rate is high and economic inequality is prospering. The
author and his colleague conducted a ten year study of two neighborhoods, one is
privileged, and the other is poor. They found that in a privileged city a three year old
will more likely see signs in right comprehensible conditions, while in a poor city the
signs are covered with graffiti. They found that 74 percent of signs in poor areas wherein
poor conditions compared with 1 percent in privileged areas. In chestnut
Framing The Truth Analysis
Framing The Truth: Analyzing News Stories
When presenting news stories, framing is an essential part of telling a factual story.
While pure objectivity is impossible, certain techniques journalist acquire can provide
for a more unbiased article. Delving into a more specific case study regarding the
different aspects of framing, the two articles presented come from the Wall Street Journal
(WSJ) and The Guardian. The topic of both articles concern the cancellation of the UC
Berkeley Milo Yiannopoulos event and the protests/riots that emerged from the situation.
Because journalists unconsciously frame stories to fit their own biases, each article
contain differences and similarities in the way it presents the story. This presentation of

The Guardian hooks the readers by writing, Violence flares after group of anti fascist
activists shoot fireworks at venue where the controversial Breitbart editor was due to
give a talk. Each word provides greater insight into what is perceived as salient
throughout the article. The word flares uses the rhetorical structure of depictions when
describing the violence that occurred at the event. Flares not only illustrates a crowd of
riled up people, but the police weapons used to disperse the crowds. Flares also
captivates the later essence of the article when it mentions the light pole that had been set
aflame burned itself out . Continuing to analyze the lead, The Guardian uses an
abundance of designators to frame competition and conflict among Yiannopoulos and the
protestors/rioters. It reflects villainous undertones when describing Yiannopoulos as
controversial and an internet troll . Additionally, protesters are labeled as boisterous but
peaceful while carrying glittering flags . The particular use of glittering flags , which
could also be denoted as a depictor, accentuates the peacefulness of the protesters because
of reader s tendency to connect glittering with other positive terms such as beaming or
The History Of Musicals On Stage Is Broad And
Extensive.There
The history of musicals on stage is broad and extensive. There are many different
histories of stage musicals: French operettas, Grecian plays, and Roman comedies are
just a few. However, I am going to focus on American musicals. The musical that many
Americans are familiar with has its roots in the French and Viennese operettas of the
1800s, but take their comic style from American Variety and Minstrel Shows, which led
to Vaudeville and Burlesque shows. Known to be the first American musical, The Black
Crook , produced in 1866, proved how profitable the musical theater could be in the
United States. After that the American musical really burst forth, with full length
burlesque shows and British imports of musicals, like... Show more content on

The movie Singing in the Rain (1952) even offered a lighthearted depiction of
Hollywood in the late 1920s where the focus was on the transition from silent films to
talkies . From the beginning, audiences embraced screen musicals with tremendous
enthusiasm, with The Jazz Singer (1927) bringing in a slew of newcomer audiences
as well as the usual stage musical goers. Even though the stock market crash of 1929
caused almost a third of movies theaters in the U.S. to shut down, the industry survived
(but barely), because the public would use the few pennies they had to go see a film
that would make them forget the Depression for an hour and a half. Because of this,
film musicals attempted to provide happy and uplifting types of musicals, but they
were not extremely successful. Fast forward to 1933, when the Warner Bros. Studios
gave audiences dance infused musicals, including Forty Second Street , where Busby
Berkeley took his reputation and experience as a dance director for several Broadway
shows and helped rebuild film musicals rapport. Due to the fact that, in the 1940s,
America was fully focused on World War II in one way or another, Yankee Doodle
Dandy was produced in 1942 by Warner Bros. Studios, and was a musical biography of
George M. Cohan, The Man Who Owned Broadway . This musical highlighted the
American patriotism and values that many
Walt Disney Influence
Walt Disney s first animated film was Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs in 1937.
Over the years Walt Disney came out with family friendly movies such as, Sleeping
Beauty (1959), Pocahontas (1995), Aladdin (1992), and Cinderella (1950). Walt Disney
influenced many people in many ways with his work. The critic Robert Hughes credited
him with inventing Pop art. Hughes wrote, When in Fantasia, Mickey Mouseclambered
up to the (real) podium and shook hands with the (real) conductor Leopold Stokowski.
He also helped reinvent graphic design. He did this by, introducing the soft, round, bold,
colorful forms that decades later would be adopted and adapted by a vanguard of fine
artist.
Walt Disney s films are an informal way for children to learn lessons. This can be
compared to the McGuffey reader. At the end of both stories and films there is a lesson
that is taught. In Walt Disney s Pinocchio, the lesson is to tell the truth and in Cinderella
the lesson is to be kind. Walt Disney films are also based on American history or fairy
tales that he Americanized. Some would argue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This animated film ignores laws against interracial marriage, separation of blacks and
whites in public spaces, and only hints at the disadvantages society brought against those
of African American backgrounds. A critic Esther Terry stated that, Tiana s success
depends solely on her own actions, her ability to reconnect with uncorrupted American
nature, and her willingness to interconnect with her surrounding community. Others
argue that, Disney is seeking to entertain through action, comedy, and romance rather
than explore complex issues. So, if that s the case, why set these films in eras that
problematize race in this way? The Princess and the Frog was released in 2009. This
could make one believe that Disney is not growing with the changes in America, and
instead is going backwards with their
