Nervous System

The nervous system includes the brain, spinal cord, and network of nerves that send messages between the brain and body. The central nervous system is composed of the brain and spinal cord, which work together to integrate sensory and motor functions. The peripheral nervous system includes the autonomic nervous system controlling involuntary functions and the somatic nervous system controlling muscle movement. Common nervous system diseases include epilepsy, Alzheimer's, stroke, spinal stenosis, and treatments take a multi-disciplinary approach including medications, supplements, and therapies.

The

Nervous
System
The nervous system includes the
brain, spinal cord, and a complex
network of nerves. This system sends
messages back and forth between
the brain and the body. The brain is
what controls all the body's
functions. The spinal cord runs from
the brain down through the back.
Central Nervous System

• The central nervous system is composed of two major

interconnected organs.
- The brain controls how we think, learn, move, and feel
- The spinal cord are to send motor commands from the
brain to the body, send sensory information from the body to
the brain, and coordinate reflexes.
• These organs work together to integrate and coordinate
sensory and motor information for the purpose of the various
tissues organs and organ systems of body.
• The central nervous system is responsible for higher neural
functions, such as memory, learning and emotion
Peripheral Nervous System
• The peripheral nervous system is divided into two main parts:
- Autonomic nervous system (ANS): Controls involuntary bodily
functions and regulates glands.
- Somatic nervous system (SNS): Controls muscle movement and
relays information from ears, eyes and skin to the central nervous
system.
• Peripheral nerves reside outside your brain and spinal cord.
They relay information between your brain and the rest of
your body.
Common diseases of nervous
system
Epilepsy is a neurological Alzheimer's disease is the most
common type of dementia. It is a
condition involving the progressive disease beginning
brain that makes people with mild memory loss and
more susceptible to possibly leading to loss of the
having recurrent ability to carry on a conversation
and respond to the environment.
unprovoked seizures.
Common diseases of nervous
system
A stroke, sometimes called a brain Lumbar spinal stenosis is a narrowing
attack, occurs when something of the spinal canal in the lower part
blocks blood supply to part of the of your back. Stenosis, which means
brain or when a blood vessel in the narrowing, can cause pressure on
brain bursts. In either case, parts of your spinal cord or the nerves that
the brain become damaged or die. A go from your spinal cord to your
stroke can cause lasting brain muscles. Spinal stenosis can happen
damage, long-term disability, or even in any part of your spine but is most
death common in the lower back.
Treatment depends on the specific condition, of
course, but we take a multi-disciplinary
approach. This may include medications, if
indicated, as well as supplements, nutritional
support, spinal manipulation, acupuncture,
physical therapy and lifestyle changes, all which
may improve proper nerve function.
