120 HOURS

The Architecture Competition for Students by Students

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for!

Here is the assignment for the 2023 edition of 120 Hours

120 Hours 2023

SUSTAINABILITY
Everyone talks about sustainability,
but do we understand it? If I say the
name of a color, for instance “red,” it is
very unlikely that you think of the exact
same shade of red that I do. And red is
a very common word. When I say
“sustainability,” what do you think of?
BUILDING BIOGRAPHIES: TALES OF (UN)SUSTAINABILITY

Task

1. Design

Write the biography of a building using 4 images:

• One of its birth
• One of its youth
• One of its adulthood
• One of its death. (Is there a funeral? A reincarnation?)

The building may be fictional or real – the importance lies in the narrative
you present.

2. Write

Did this building have a sustainable life? Yes or no?

Feel free to write the text in any way you like, but use maximum 200
words.

Minimum requirements

4 Images
All types of images are accepted, for example hand drawing/diagram/
plan/section/rendering/illustration/collage/model photos/pictures

Text
Maximum 200 words

Team ID in the bottom right corner of both pages

Evaluation

Evaluation of your competition entry will be based on the following criteria:

1. Storytelling/narrative
2. Critical reflection
3. Unexpectedness: Surprise us!
4. Grapichs: Be visually stunning!

And remember to make your proposal easy to read! There are many
proposals to look through and if your text is very small or difficult to read,
your proposal might not get the attention it deserves.
