Rooted in Love (February 4, 2023 - Labilab)

Paul prayed for believers to be strengthened spiritually, for Christ to dwell in their hearts through faith, and for them to be rooted and grounded in love. His goal was for believers to comprehend the immense dimensions of Christ's love. Paul expressed confidence that God could do infinitely more than anyone could ask or imagine through his eternal power at work in them. He concluded by praising God for his glory in the church throughout all generations.

ROOTED IN LOVE

6. Background
a. Author: Apostle Paul during his imprisonment in Roma

I. The Approach of Paul v. 14-15 Daytoy ti gapuna nga agparintumengak iti sangoanan ti Ama a
paggapuan ti pudno a nagan ti tunggal familia sadi langit ken ditoy daga. Ania ti pamay-an ni
Pablo iti kararagna?

a. THE REASON FOR THE PRAYER v. 14a. Anya ti makagapo?

Daytoy ti gapuna. Having stated that positionally the Gentile and Jewish believers are
“one new man” (Eph_2:15), which is the body of Christ. Tinarigagayanna a pudpudno
nga ammoda ken mapasaranda ti ayat ni Kristo ket iti kasta ipakitada dayta iti
tunggal maysa. Paul now prayed that they may be united not only mentally but also
experientially.
b. THE REVERENCE IN PRAYER v. 14b. What is the proper attitude. Kasanu ken anya
iti rumbeng nga kalidad iti maysa nga agkar-kararag?
Agparintumengak. Not only the proper posture when we communicate with God but
also the proper attitude – kinapakumbaba ken kinapsnek (humility and sincerity). Cf.
Ezr_9:5-6

But at the evening offering I stood up from my [a]humiliation, even with my garment and my robe
torn, and I bowed down on my knees and spread out my [b]hands to the Lord my God; 6 and I
said, “My God, I am ashamed and humiliated to lift up my face to You, my God, for our wrongful
deeds have [c]risen above our heads, and our guilt has grown even to the heavens. Do we pray
like that kakabsat?

c. THE RECIPIENT OF THE PRAYER v. 15. Para kanino? Sino ti ikarkararagan ni

Apostle Paul? Paul was not praying for himself but for the believers.
tunggal familia sadi langit ken ditoy daga. Amin nga namati. It signifies that this
prayer encompasses the entire family of God. All believers since the world began, who
died and is now in heaven, and those that are living in the present. Saklawenna amin a
namati iti napalabas ken iti agdama.

*Intercessory Prayer*

What are the different types of prayer represented in the Bible?

Although there are many different types of prayer, here are the 7 main types of prayer: Prayer of
Worship, Prayer of Thanksgiving, Prayer of Faith, Corporate Prayer, Prayer of Consecration,
Prayer of the Holy Spirit and Prayer of Intercession

Intercession is the act of praying on behalf of another person or group of people. No

ikararagtayo ti pagimbagan dagiti dadduma ket mangibabaettayo iti biangda.

In our passage, Paul goes to the Lord and intercedes on behalf of the believers. We can
also do this in our lives.

II. The Appeal in the Prayer. V. 16-19. Anya iti kayat ni Apostle Paul nga mapasamak ditoy?

a. THE PROVISION FROM CHRIST v. 16a. Why do you think Apostle Paul was
confident to ask? Because of the riches of God’s Glory.
kinabaknang ti gloriana. The unlimited glory of God that is available to every believer.
Nawadwad. Awan ti maawanan ta kabaelan ni Apo Diyos nga ikkan iti amin nga annak
na. This provision is not merely a material or worldly wealth but the abundant supply of
God's grace, love, and wisdom, empowering us to stand firm in our faith.

b. THE PETITION TO CHRIST. V16b-17. Adda iti tallo nga banag nga dawdwaten ni
Apostol Pablo ditoy.
i. To be Strengthened in the Inner Being. dawatek nga itedna kadakayo ti
pannakabalin babaen iti Espirituna tapno bumileg ti akin-uneg a kinataoyo.
Paul's petition is that God would strengthen the believers with power through His
Spirit in their inner being. “we are a new creation – it was the inner being that
was changed not the outward appearance”

2Co_4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer person is decaying, yet
our inner person is being renewed day by day.

Not our outward physical body iti dawdawaten ni Paul nga mapapigsa ta ammo
tayo nga kumap-kapsut tayo habang agkaka-edad. It pertains iti makin-uneg a
kinatao tayo – Our hearts, mind and soul. Nga uray aglabas iiti tawen ket mas
karkaro kuma nga bumileg.

ii. To be Indwelled Christ through faith. Agnaed koma a kanayon ni Cristo iti
pusoyo babaen iti pammatiyo kenkuana. Ditoy, Paul reiterated that Jesus indwells
every believer not because iti aramid da ngem gapu iti pammati.

Romans 8:9. However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of
God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to
Him.

Sukimaten tayo ti bagbagi tayo kakabsat. This speaks of Christians' continuing

trust in Christ to exercise His lordship over them.

iii. To be rooted and grounded in love. Ikararagko a mairamut ken maipasdekkayo iti
ayat. Kasano nga agtubo kn umadu iti ramot iti maysa nga mula? By absorbing
nutrients from the soil. Kasta met kadatayo kakabsat, when we must also absorb
the love that God lavishes us. To bloom and render fruits.

“You cannot give what you do not have”

1 John 4:19 - We love, because He first loved us.

c. THE PURPOSE OF CHRIST. V. 18-19. There is basically a main purpose of why Paul
is interceding kadagiti namati. The purpose of Paul's prayer is for the believers to
comprehend the vast dimensions of Christ's love – a love that surpasses knowledge.
tapno dakayo ken dagiti amin a tattao ti Dios, naan-anay ti pannakaawatyo no kasano ti
kadakkel ken kauneg ti panagayat ni Cristo kadakayo.

able to comprehend. naan-anay ti pannakaawatyo. A believer cannot understand the

fullness of God's love apart from genuine, Spirit-empowered love in his own life.
Marigatan iti maysa nga namati, let alone dagiti saan. Para kanyada ket kahibangan or
kabaliwan ti ayat nga kastoy.

The Love of God hymnology.

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
and were the skies of parchment made;
were ev’ry stalk on earth a quill,
and ev’ryone a scribe by trade;
to write the love of God above
would drain the ocean dry;
nor could the scroll contain the whole,
though stretched from sky to sky.

III. The Adoration that was Presented V.20-21 Kasanu nga indaydayaw ni Paul ni Apo Diyos
iti kararag na.

A. THE PERPETUITY OF GOD (V. 20A): Maidaydayaw koma iti Dios a makaaramid iti
nasursurok ngem iti dawaten wennu panunuten tayo.
Paul expresses confidence in God's perpetual ability to do exceedingly abundantly
beyond all we can ask or think. Our faith is rooted in the eternal nature of our God, who
is not bound by time or circumstance.

B. THE POWER OF GOD (V. 20B): Babaen iti pannakabalin nga agtabaho kadatayo.
God's power is the driving force behind our rootedness in love. It empowers us to
overcome challenges, break through limitations, and live a life that reflects the glory of
God.

c. THE PRAISE TO GOD (V. 21): Maipaay kuma kenkuana ti dayaw iti iglesia ken dayaw ni
Cristo Jesus, iti amin a tiempo ken iti agnanayon nga awan inggana. Amen.
The climax of Paul's prayer is a doxology, a declaration of praise to God. All glory
belongs to Him in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations. Our
rootedness in love leads to a life of worship and adoration, recognizing God's supremacy.
In conclusion, Sapay la kuma ta haan tayo lang nga nakaadal on this prayer but may we be inspired also
to be deeply rooted in the love of Christ, allowing His love to permeate every aspect of our lives.

Ti ayat naanus ken naasi. Saan a naimon wenno napasindayag wenno natangsit. Saan a naalas ti
kababalinna wenno naimut wenno nalaka nga agpungtot. Awan im-impenna a sakit ti nakem.
Saanna a pagragsakan ti dakes. Pagragsakanna ketdi ti kinapudno. Ti ayat ituredna amin a banag,
mamati iti amin, mangnamnama iti amin, ibturanna amin. Ti ayat agpaut nga agnanayon.
Kabayatanna, dagitoy tallo ti agtalinaed: pammati, namnama, ayat; ngem ti kangrunaan
kadagitoy, isu ti ayat.
Let us pray.
