LS Exercise 3

The document provides information on different types of cells, including their basic characteristics and functions. It lists examples of eukaryotic cells from both animals and plants, such as melanocytes, myocytes, leukocytes, schwann cells, adipocytes, parenchyma cells, collenchyma cells, sclerenchyma cells, xylem cells, and phloem cells. Each cell type is described in terms of its visual appearance under a microscope, as well as its role within the body or plant. The document also includes bibliographic citations for additional references on each cell type.

Look at your table and answer the following questions:

a. What aspects do your examples have in common? I think that the most common one, is that
without any of these cells, life wouldn’t be how we known it today.
b. What aspects they don´t share? For example, that the prokaryotes are always unicellular, while
eukaryotes are often multi-celled organisms. Also, eukaryotic cells are exponentially larger in
comparison with the prokaryotic cells, adding that they are more complicated.
