How are you today

Lets start kids

The Philippines is known for having wonderful


tourist sports, hospitable and happy people, as well a
rich culture and traditions.

A lot of Filipinos are known to be talented artists


who create magnificent artworks that show the
country’s culture.

Some of these works are the ones described in the


previous pictures – TAKA, VINTA, AND KITE.

Okay, let’s discuss first what is Taka?

Taka is a kind of paper- mache where a wooden


sculpture is used as a molder. This kind of craft
started in Paete, Laguna- a place known for its
wooden sculptures.

Vinta is a colorful boat in Mindanao that shows the


creativity and culture of the Muslim community

Kite or Saranggola is made of plastic or paper and
string. This is a kind of toy that Filipino children love
to use for playing on windy days.

There are just some of the Philippine art that we need


to protect, maintain, and preserve so that the children
of the next generation can still witness the beautiful
culture and pride of the Filipino people.

2. INDIVIDUAL PRACTICES

The teacher will ask the student to do a paper-boat


project using Colored paper. The rubrics will be
shown as a guide in doing it.

Materials:
Colored Paper any color ( SHORT )
Scissors

Safety Guidelines:

 Your safety is your personal responsibility.


 When using scissors, cut in a direction away
from your body and fingers, hands, arms, and
legs.
 Take responsibility and clean up if you made
a mess.
 Clean and organize your workspace.

Procedures:

1. Start with a short sheet of paper. Fold in half,


top to bottom.
2. To find a center, fold in the other direction
and unfold.
3. Fold the corners down using the centerfold
as a guide.
4. Fold flaps up on both sides.
5. Put thumbs in middle and open out.
6. Until it makes a square. Tuck corners of one
flap under the other.
7. Fold up at both sides.
8. Put thumbs in the middle and open out again.
9. Until it makes a square. Pull corners out.
10. And press flat.
11. Open out to make a boat shape.
