Midterm 1 Format

The midterm exam will take place on Wednesday, February 21st in class and will be administered online through Canvas. It will cover chapters 1 through 4 and last 60 minutes, though students will have 90 minutes once they begin. The exam format will be similar to the practice exams. Students must be present in the classroom for the exam to count and it will be closed book except for one double sided sheet of notes. Proctorio will be used to monitor the exam and prevent cheating. Students should review the practice exams, chapter problems, assignments, cases and slides to prepare.

Midterm Format

• Wednesday, February 21, in class. The exam is in person but will be


administered online in Canvas (i.e., bring your computer to the exam).
o Covers Ch. 1 - 4
o The exam is structured such that it should take 60 minutes (but you will be
allotted 90 minutes once you log on and start the exam)
o Similar format to practice exams
• You must be in the classroom for the exam to count.
• The exam is closed-book, but you are allowed to bring a “cheat sheet”, i.e.,
one piece of 8½" x 11" paper with notes (double-sided).
• Hard copies of financial statements that you need (via external links) will be
provided to you
• To minimize cheating and allow everyone a fair shot, we will be using
Proctorio to administer the exam.
• Keep the academic honor code in mind: no sharing of results, no electronic
devices other than your personal computer, no third-party help!

Proctorio
• Before getting the midterm, please follow the instructions in Proctorio’s Quick
Start Guide for the extension.

• You will need to use the latest version of either the Google Chrome or
Microsoft Edge browsers on a desktop or laptop (PC, Mac, Linux are all fine),
Chromebook, or Microsoft Surface Tablet. Other mobile and tablet devices
(such as iPhones, iPads, or Android phones) are not supported for proctored
assignments.

• To verify your computer system meets the requirements, take the proctored
Practice #2 exam. This will ensure that everything will run smoothly at the
exam
