Hello everyone. In this session today, our groups are going to present about "Handicraft
program from household waste".
let's start our presentation with ...

Definition (Gelsi):
So, do you guys know what is household waste?
Household waste, also known as domestic waste or residential waste, is a single-use
material generated by households. Waste consists of non-hazardous waste and
hazardous waste. Non-hazardous waste can be in the form of food scraps, paper,
bottles, etc. that can be recycled or made into compost. Examples of hazardous waste
include batteries and household cleaners.

Deficiency (Abel):
What problems are caused by household waste?
The improper and apathetic attitude towards management of Domestic Solid Waste has
adverse effects on society as well as the environment causing various diseases like diarrhea,
fever, cough and cold, headache or often containing toxic and hazardous chemicals. And the
household waste can cause the occurrence of global warming.

Good impact (Nurul):


Proper waste removal helps improve air and water quality as well as reduces
greenhouse gas emissions. It helps in minimizing the extraction of resources along with
reducing pollution and energy consumption which is associated with manufacturing new
materials. One of the most significant benefits of waste management is the protection of
the environment and the health of the population. When the waste is recycled it helps
turn recyclable waste into useful substances.

Benefits (Nea):
1.Can reduce environmental pollution.
Recycling is one alternative that can be used to overcome environmental pollution.
Why? With recycling, we can use plastic bottles, plastic wraps from detergents, snacks,
and others to make handicrafts that have economic value.

2. Can be a creative activity


Recycling used items can hone your skills and artistry so that the things you make can
attract the attention of consumers. This action shows that the product produced has
high usability and does not cause new waste. Besides you are skilled in recycling, it
would be nice if you are also creative in marketing and building relationships.

3. Crafts can be sold.


Along with the development of the times, technological advances are very rapid. Now
even the chances of getting a job are not secure. Why? This is due to the increasing
competition among job seekers. The number of job seekers is more than the number of
available jobs. Now you have to be braver to display your skills and become an
entrepreneur.

Recycling Process (Nea, Gelsi, Abel):


The recycling process consists of several steps, namely:

1. Separation (Nea)
The first stage of the recycling process is separation. At this stage, it must be separated
between the waste to be recycled and the waste to be disposed of.

2. Storage (Gelsi)
Once separated, the waste can be stored in a box. Each box must contain one type of
waste, do not mix because each type of waste has a different recycling process. For
example, paper with paper, leaves with leaves, glass bottles with glass bottles, and so
on.

3. Shipping or Sales (Abel)


Garbage can be sent directly to the nearest recycling bin or if you don't want to bother,
give it to scavengers or used goods collectors who usually pass in front of the house.
Later they will send the garbage to the recycling center. Then they will get money from
the collected garbage.

1. Plastic Water Bottles (Nurul)


Plastic water bottles are the worst enemy one can have indoors. People often dispose
of plastic bottles irresponsibly after use and thus harm the environment. With a little use
of creativity, plastic bottles can come to good use. For instance, you can cut off the
bottom halves of the plastic bottles and plant seedlings in them. These nifty plant-
holders are easy to craft and will be a great addition to your garden space.
2. Build an Eco-brick (Abel)
Thousands of plastic bottles end up lying in landfills every year as they can only be
recycled a finite amount of times. So rather than just throwing them away, you can use
them to make nifty eco-bricks. These bricks can be used for making modular furniture,
as a decorative item for your garden.
