● Narrative Report
The “ISANG PAGDIRIWANG PARA SA BUWAN NG WIKA: SA
LARANGAN NG KALUSUGAN AT MEDISINA” hosted by the Pre-Medical
Students’ Society was held from August 19 until the 30th through the use of the
Facebook Group Page. Participants of the event were from members of the organization
in BS Biology, BS Chemistry, BS Psychology, BS Nursing, BS Nutrition and Dietetics
and BS Public Health Program. On August 19, postings of pubmats about the event were
shared through the group page and messenger chats. This served as promotional
materials that let the student body be aware of the said event. Subsequently, on August
21, pubmats about participant registration via google form were disseminated through
the page and respective group chats with the help of the program representatives. The
following day, detailed instructions about the activities were released so that participants
will be guided in their chosen category. Submission of entries was allowed until August
28 and on the 30th, the entries on Spoken Poetry, Poem, and Song were posted on the
group page.
A member from BS Biology presented his work in the Poem category. BS
Nursing and BS Nutrition and Dietetics both submitted song compositions into the Song
category. The category for Spoken Poetry also received one submission from BS
Chemistry. Following the release of the entries for this activity, self-assessment and
program evaluation were conducted on August 31. The members used this as a platform
to express their opinions on how the activity was carried out and what they learned from
it. Keep in mind that this event is not meant to be competitive; rather, it was created to
honor "Buwan ng Wika" within the organization as a whole.
Overall, the event was a success in reaching its goals. Within the organization, a
spirit of cohesion and respect for cultural differences was fostered. A friendly setting
was established through the poems, songs, and spoken poetry presentations that were
contributed, encouraging healthcare providers to utilize language to foster trust and
compassion. Additionally, it acknowledged and highlighted the involvement of language
and cultural variety in enhancing patient satisfaction and medical efficiency.
