THE CLASSROOM Students will pick pieces of trash.

“Okay, before you take your seat, please

check the cleanliness around your chairs.
Pick the pieces of trash under and at the
sides of your chair.”

-CHECKING OF ATTENDANCE

“You may now be seated. Okay, Ms.

Class Secretary, will you please report Ms. Secretary will report the numbers of
how many are present today.” present in the class.

“So, after the rainy weekend. How’s

everyone?” “Still doing great, Sir.”

“That’s good to hear. Are you excited to

have a new topic for today?” “Yes, Sir!”

-REVIEW

But before we proceed to our new lesson

for today let us have a short review from *Students answer may vary*
what we had discussed last meeting.

“Can anyone give me the topic that we

have already discussed?”

B. Motivation

So, before we start our discussion, let's Correct Answers:

have an Ice breaker.
Column A (Standard Form)
Direction: Let’s try to categorize the
2x – 3y = 6
equations in the box bellow into two
5x + 4y = -10
groups. Put equations on first group
-3x + 2y = 9
(Column A) that they have same equation
6x – 2y = 12
and equations on second group

your answers on given example.
Column B (Slope-intercept Form)
2x - 3y = 6 y = 3x - 2 y = ¾x + 1
y = 2x + 3/
5x + 4y = -10 6x – 2y = 12 y = 2x + 3 y = -½x + 4
y = -½x + 4 -3x + 2y = 9 X – 7y = 5
y = 3x – 2
y = ¾x + 1
y = 2x + 5 y = 2x + 5

PRESENTATION OF ILO

At the end of the 60-minute

session, the Grade 8 Jupiter students
with 80% mastery shall be able to:

• Students will be able to write linear

equations in the following form:
– Slope Intercept Form

• Students will be able to write

equations in slope-intercept form
and identify the slope and y-

Classmates who will take the video

recording, so let us discuss the Slope
Intercept Form.

Introduction to Slope-Intercept Form

- Explain that slope-intercept form is a

way to write linear equations in the form y
= mx + b, where m represents the slope
and b represents the y-intercept.

- Write the slope-intercept form on the

board and explain the meaning of each
component.

- Emphasize that slope-intercept form

makes it easier to identify the slope and
y-intercept, which are crucial for graphing
linear equations.

Deriving Slope-Intercept Form

- Demonstrate how to derive slope-

intercept form from a given linear
equation in standard form (Ax + By = C).

- Use an example equation and guide

students through the steps of isolating y
to obtain the equation in slope-intercept
form.

- Encourage students to ask questions

and provide clarification as needed.

Identifying Slope and Y-Intercept

- Provide students with a set of linear

equations in slope-intercept form.

- Instruct students to identify the slope

and y-intercept for each equation.

COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND EDUCATION

- Discuss the solutions as a class,

ensuring that students understand how to
extract this information from the
equations.

- Provide students with linear equations

in slope-intercept form.

- Walk around the classroom to provide

assistance and guidance as needed.

D. Engagement

GROUP ACTIVITY Answers may vary

Direction:
Group yourselves into Six.

Choose 2 standard form examples at the

board and convert it into slope intercept
form and present to the class

Group 1.
Group 2.
Group 3.

Group 5.
Group 6.

E. Generalization

- Summarize the key points covered in

the lesson, emphasizing the importance
of slope-intercept form in graphing linear
equations.

- Discuss real-life applications of linear
