Dear Principal, and Deputy Principals,

I am Nguyen Khanh Linh, and this is my appeal letter for Higher Level Chemistry and Biology.

I have always been incredibly passionate about these two subjects. Throughout the year, I have
been consistent in my performance, and have scored well- Grade 7s- for Weighted Assessments
and courseworks. I find a lot of joy when conducting research in these fields, and have always gone
above and beyond to learn more about these topics out of personal interest.

Upon reflection, I realized the reason why I was unable to fare equally well during my End of Year
Examinations, simply was due to the sheer overwhelm of being in exam season. Upon getting my
papers back, it was clear that I had an understanding of the concepts, but my anxiety resulted in a
lack of clarity when answering the questions. This caused my overall score to suffer.

To address this problem, I am currently working on my time management and stress management to
avoid panicking when exam season comes around. I have also been actively revising the content
learned throughout the holidays, and practicing often - this has helped to make my revision
continuous. So, I am striving to be consistent in order to have a deeper understanding of the topics,
and to familiarize myself with the format to face the exam comfortably.

Why should the school offer me a place in these two classes?

The reasons are simple: P.A.W.

I am extremely Passionate about Chemistry and Biology. It has long been my goal to enter the field
of healthcare and biomedical science. I find that to be able to improve the health, and lives of other
people, is an immensely meaningful purpose to serve. Additionally, I have always enjoyed and
excelled in these fields of research- the school courseworks are always the highlight of my year, as
they push me to think critically beyond the boundaries of the syllabus.

I will always be Accountable for my learning. I understand fully that the trajectory of my growth
hinges entirely on the dedication and effort I invest. Hence, I have been working on strengthening my
foundation to ensure that I am ready to tackle harder topics.

Most importantly, I am Willing. For subjects that I love, I will not hesitate to put in the hard work and
be diligent in my studies. I am willing to listen to feedback and address my areas of weakness to
improve- to be more consistent in my revision, to practice and correct my mistakes. I am willing to
be curious, to ask questions to clarify my doubts. I am willing to work towards my goals, to take the
initiative to maximize my learning.

To conclude, I hope that you will consider my appeal, as I am Passionate, Accountable and
Willing to strive to do my best in these subjects.
