/Incident - A major slum area in Vilas Nagar, Ajmer was affected by a massive fire on 10th February,
20XX./Cause – The cause of the fire is not very clear and the police is on the investigation yet. It seems that
some unidentified people set fire for their personal gains./ Effect - It caused extensive damage to life and
property. Ten persons lost their lives, many were injured and about two hundred people lost their homes./

/Immediate Solution given - The students of our school visited this slum area in the city where the people
suffered this massive fire. They rendered their physical services and material help to the victims. They joined
together and collected food packets, old clothes, medicines, utensils, etc. to be distributed to these homeless
and helpless people. Ten students and three teachers personally visited this slum area to ensure proper and
fair distribution of the items that had been collected and thus provided some relief to these unfortunate
people in their time of crisis and misery./

/Suggestions – The slum area needs to be rehabilitated. The government has to take the responsibility in
building new houses for those people who lost their homes. As people are in great misery, they need to be
provided long term secure jobs and livelihood. The police has to take sufficient measures in finding out the
real culprits behind this tragic incident./

Nungambakkam, Chennai. Luckily no life was lost. Collect the information from the eyewitnesses and send a

Malnutrition Among the Less-fortunate Children

/Survey conducted on - A survey on ‘malnutrition’ was conducted by the Hindustan Times on 24 Oct 2023 at
Villupuram slum zones./ Purpose of Survey – The purpose of the survey was to assess the real problem of mal
nutrition in the locality. /Survey done on – The Survey was done on the children below 5 years of age./The
survey rubrics – The survey rubrics were Infant Mortality, Children having chronic illness, Orphaned children,
School drop outs, homeless children/

/Results found – The survey results showed that there were around 30% of children who were homeless and
dwelling on the streets. The percentage of children who die very early are very high./The other issues like
chronic diseases among children, children without parents, school drop outs show a rising graph percentage.
Through the survey the staff also found out that over population, unhygienic conditions and unemployment
were the basic reasons for this malnutrition among the children in the slum area./

/Suggestion for the solution – The survey report gave various suggestion for the solution to the problem of
mal-nutrition at the Villupuram slum. It suggest that enough care has to be taken by the government in giving
awareness regarding various population control and hygienic living. Employment should be ensured for all
the people. The undue influence of the powerful has to be controlled. The police have to take sufficient
measures in controlling illegal business that are going on at this area. /
