OPEN ON:
The lion roars two times, in customary fashion. Suddenly, the lion
fades into disappearance as we see a REGULAR FELINE ANIMAL appears,
we will know it or him as TOM THE CAT -- he starts to meow two times,
and thinks better of it. The circular film ribbon PULLS BACK as it
turns into an shaped letter of O.
The rest of the letters from left and right T and M, form the name
“TOM” -- and a another word appears “and” ---
“TOM
and
JERRY”
FADE DISSOLVE.
IRIS IN:
PAN AWAY LEFT MORE from the Conductor and the Singers as we then

Where it is filled with PEOPLE standing a bit from the fire filled
on a metal built drum container, but this thing has seen its day
being a old mess of itself.
MOVING IN, still away from the People, is a RADIO as we are listening
to as if it was voiced by a Glenn Miller type:
Tom and Jerry--2A

RICHARD
I could sure eat them up.
CHRISTINE
Richard!
AUDREY

RICHARD
Hey, I’m just kiddin’, you two.
We’ll leave them there for as
long as they are. . .
RICHARD
. . .Right, Tom?. . .
PAN to FOCUS on TOM, with still sleeping as lifting his head up,
nods.
AUDREY
Do you always have to give
Tom a hard time?
CHRISTINE
Come on, Richard.
RICHARD
All right, all right.
I’ll promise not to be
hard on the cat tomorrow.
Tom and Jerry--5
AUDREY
Pinkie-swear?
RICHARD
(smiling & nods)
Pinkie-swear.
What now?
AUDREY
So what now?
RICHARD
Come on, time for bed.
AUDREY
Alright.
AUDREY (o.s.)

TOM
He shakes his head two times and then his face is back to normal

barely could even hear it away from distance.
CU - JERRY

Jerry turns to where the sound is, stops & goes dread turning into
white in a feeling and drops the cookie on the plate -- as we get
Tom and Jerry--7
WIDER
Tom is there standing with a stern face staring at Jerry who still has
a dreaded look. Jerry tries a smile, but it is weak, as he backs away
a bit --- and then suddenly, Tom whips from his arm to his hand about
to grab Jerry but avoids Tom’s threat. And then Jerry starts to run off
the table stand -- Tom, starts being angry as he takes off after Jerry,
bumps the table stand off-balance as it falls as sounds of glass break.
TOM’S POV
FAST ZOOM on the fallen table stand with the plate and glass of

CHRISTINE (o.s.)
Richard! You know better.
RICHARD
I know, I know. . .
But still I hope it’s not Tom.
CHRISTINE
But let’s check it out.
RICHARD
Alright.
He looks from (o.s.) the dark hallway (leading upstairs) and the
mess he bumped into, repeatedly.
NEW ANGLE
Jerry running away from Tom chasing him. Running around the living
room as Tom starts messing it up:
He’s about to get into the mouse hole. But Tom gets ahead of Jerry to

Wanna mess EVERYTHING UP!
CHRISTINE

What is a mouse doing here!
RICHARD
And LOOK! Look what you did
with Audrey’s cookies & milk.

Jerry quickly avoids getting hit by it.

Tom, angered by with what Richard did. Thinks more about killing

Screw this. I’m out.
As Richard and Christine turn away from the door. They stop in

Still in dread. . .

Christine.

CHRISTINE (CONT’D)
I had it enough with the both
of you arguing each other
for the past damn years.
(beat)
Now, can’t we JUST take a moment
of silence and calm down!
Beat. Then, Audrey takes her attention off from her dad.
AUDREY
I gotta go.
RICHARD
Where do you think you’re going
young lady?
ANGLE ON AUDREY
AUDREY
Somewhere! That’s none of your business.
RICHARD (o.s.)
Heh. Like you know something.
AUDREY
Why don’t you buzz on your little
car out there and find them,
you half-ass moron.
RICHARD (o.s.)
Why you little--
CHRISTINE
ENOUGH, DAMMIT!!!
Tom and Jerry--14
WIDER
AUDREY
(turns)
I gotta go.
She leaves the kitchen and sounds of running upstairs and door slam.
RICHARD
I don’t know who I am anymore?
A dad or a nutcase?
CHRISTINE
You’re better than that.
RICHARD
I don’t know, Christine, I don’t know.
CHRISTINE
Let me talk to her.
Beat.
RICHARD
(sighs)
Okay.
Audrey, sitting at her bed as she plays with Teddy in silent mode.
CHRISTINE (o.s.)
Honey, can I come in?
AUDREY
Come in, mom.
CHRISTINE
Feeling calm now?
AUDREY
I guess so.
Tom and Jerry--15
CHRISTINE
I know how you feel.
AUDREY
But why? Why did he have
to kick him out?
CHRISTINE
You knew what Tom did.
AUDREY
I know, but we really need
to give him a another chance.
Beat.
AUDREY
Please. . .
CHRISTINE
(sighs)
I know.
Coming out of the door is Audrey with her coat, hat on as well
as wearing a backpack.
INT. CAR

Audrey
Dad?
RICHARD

AUDREY
I’m sorry. . .
for what I did.
CLOSE ON HANDS
RICHARD

Tom and Jerry--16
INT. TRAIN
Jerry exits.
ANGLE ON JERRY
DISSOLVE TO.
She has a coat, a scarf, and a top hat. She closes the door and
locks it.
FEMALE MOUSE
Hey, you alright?
FEMALE MOUSE
Oh. Why don’t you come in
my place and get warm. How
that sounds?
He nods quickly!!
CUT TO.
FEMALE MOUSE
Here. Careful it’s hot.
Jerry nods. He blows most of the steam coming out of the mug.
Carefully drinks it slowly.
FEMALE MOUSE
Not much of a talker, are you?
All Jerry could do is talk very silently with his mouth and
make sign language.
JERRY
(subtitled)
I’m Jerry. . .
MAGGIE
Oh, I know sign-language.
You can’t talk?
JERRY
(sign-language, subtitled)
No. . .
I rather not go too much about it.
MAGGIE
(nods)
Ohh. . .Ok.
(beat)
So what brings you here in New York?
JERRY
(sign-language, subtitled)
Oh, living -- that’s what I do for
in my life.
MAGGIE
(nodding)
Same.
Why were you in the cold outside?
JERRY
(sign-language, subtitled)
I was kicked out of a house where
a cat lived there also. His name was
Tom. So both of us had wandered walking
and reached to a train station.
MAGGIE
Well, what happened next?
JERRY
(sign-language, subtitled)
Tom was very depressed, I was confused
as a train came. I entered, but stop
as I turned to look for Tom, waved
for him. But he refused, so I just
stood there and did nothing as the
door closed. It moved, and nothing
since after yesterday, I couldn’t
find him. . .
MAGGIE
Is there a way we can find Tom?
JERRY
(shrugs) (sign-language,
subtitled)
I don’t know.
MAGGIE
You don’t know?!
JERRY
(sign-language, subtitled)
Look!
I couldn’t do anything but stood
there and do nothing, alright.
(beat)
The best thing I could suggest is
going back to the station I went
to and find him.
MAGGIE
(nodding)
Alright.
CUT TO.
FEMALE CAT
Tom?!
Tom and Jerry--20
TOM
(meows, subtitled)
Marion?
MARION
When did this happened, Officer?
POLICE OFFICER
Well, miss, he was up here
since last night.
MARION
Why?
He just shrugs.
POLICE OFFICER
Miss, I don’t know, okay?
(beat)
Look. . .
If you want to take care of him,
it’s yours, I ain’t gonna mind
it.
She nods.
MARION
Ok.
POLICE OFFICER
Alright, alright, let’s get
back to as usual, people.
MARION
Come on, Tom.
POLICE OFFICER
Are you gonna be okay, Miss. Watson?
I can drive you two to where your place is.
Tom and Jerry--21
MARION
I think we’ll be okay, Bill.
POLICE OFFICER (BILL)
You sure about that?
Don’t want ya two to be freezing
out here.
Beat.
MARION
Alright.
CUT TO.
OFFICER BILL
So how did you know him?
MARION
Knew him for a long time
since we were just little.
OFFICER BILL
Huh. . .
Sibling? Friend?
MARION
Friend.
He used to be owned by Mr.--
OFFICER BILL
McNally?
MARION
How did you know?
OFFICER BILL
I heard you say the cat’s name.
Tom.
MARION
Yeah?
OFFICER BILL
Tom was McNally’s pet cat.
I used to come to McNally’s,
for a visit, He always would
have Tom by his lap laying
and curling up.
CLOSE ON TOM
Tom smiles at hearing from what Bill saying. Tom seems to remember
memories.
MARION (o.s.)
Yeah?
OFFICER BILL (o.s.)
(sighs, then)
The years came by, Old Mr.
McNally became ill, until
weeks later. . .
he passed.
MARION (o.s.)
Oh.
As they hear the *sigh* from Tom, they turn. Bill turns
back to look into traffic as he continues his talk more.
OFFICER BILL
Poor thing couldn’t realize what
had happened to its owner when
he slept until the morning came. . .
. . .After the funeral,
his wife and daughter couldn’t do
anything with him, but gave to me
if I can give him to a pet shop.
MARION
Did you?
OFFICER BILL
Yeah, I did. (sighs)
That was the last thing I saw of
Tom, until now, when you called
his name.
MARION
Right. . .
(turns to Tom)
Don’t worry, Tom.
You’ll live with me, it’s fine
there.
BACK TO TOM
He nods. . .

RICHARD (CONT’D)

MAGGIE
No. All he could do is sign-language.
AUDREY (o.s.)
Could you understand what he’s saying?
MAGGIE
(nods)
Uh-huh.
I’d be wondering about this.
Jerry mentioned about a cat named--
AUDREY

mas tree as a design on the front of the sweater.
FLASHBACK
AUDREY
(nods)
Open it.
AUDREY
Not everywhere, silly.
As the wrapper’ is not there anymore, he opens the plastic box and
the present given to Tom is revealed to be a sweater, the same look
that Marion had given to him. He frowns. Then stares at Audrey.

AUDREY
Do you?
AUDREY
I know how you feel.
Why don’t I have daddy
drive you there.
BILL
Hey, Audrey, Tom.
They nod.
AUDREY
Can I ask a question, Mr. Lancaster.
BILL
Yes, my dear?
AUDREY
Tom wants to see his friend again.
Tom shows a photo of Marion to Bill -- then hands the photo back to
Tom.
BILL
Well, let me see what I can do
for him.
They smile.
BILL
Come on, before you catch a cold.
Tom and Jerry--49A

You sound like my dad.
BILL
Sure I do, my dear.

Okay.
MARION
Oh.
Tom. . .

Come in, we’re just about to
