Tom and Jerry--1

OPEN ON:

A very familiar theme song by Scott Bradley as we FADE UP ON:

THE MGM LOGO (LEO THE LION)

It appears, very fancy in the year of 1957.

The lion roars two times, in customary fashion. Suddenly, the lion
fades into disappearance as we see a REGULAR FELINE ANIMAL appears,
we will know it or him as TOM THE CAT -- he starts to meow two times,
and thinks better of it. The circular film ribbon PULLS BACK as it
turns into an shaped letter of O.

The background starts to fade into an orangey color background.

The rest of the letters from left and right T and M, form the name
“TOM” -- and a another word appears “and” ---

Then, a ANOTHER ANIMAL appears out of nowhere as the words below

it appear in a normal pace as “J E R R Y”, The animal appearing nowhere,
is a mouse, as we call it/or him as JERRY THE MOUSE. He lands on the
letter “Y”, looking straight at us, giving a little wave at us.

Tom looks at Jerry with a seething look of being mad.

All of the words are formed a bit separately:

“TOM
and
JERRY”
FADE DISSOLVE.

TO THE SAME ORANGE BACKGROUND

It is blank now as we SUPERIMPOSE CREDITS in a bouncy, aggressive

style of cartoon credits, with Bradley’s music intro transitioning
into a traditional music, like as if it was scored by Jerry
Goldsmith.

SUPERIMPOSE FINAL CREDIT as we

IRIS IN:

EXT. THE EARTH - FROM SPACE

A variety of stars as we are amazed by it as we MOVE TOWARD to the

earth ---

As we still MOVE IN -- we see oceans, clouds as we move into them

as it starts to fading and moving in to show us a
Tom and Jerry--2

SKYLINE VIEW - NIGHT

of the BIG CITY, in NEW YORK. A beautiful, glorious view of

the city. It is snowing.

SUPERIMPOSE: December 22, 1957

EXT. TIMES SQUARE - HIGH CRANE VIEW - NIGHT

A busy street as it is normally pacing as PEOPLE (HUMANS) walk

on the sidewalk, vehicles are moving as well, but a bit fast
but somewhat slow as due to the weather.

In the background as we hear jingling music playing throughout

the street as well as to include/favor voices singing too.

CLOSE-UP - RED COLORED BUCKET WITH A HANDLE

It is attached onto a stand. The red-bucket with a coin insert.

The front of it is a attached logo sign of “The Salvation Army”.

We PULL BACK as a MAN suited as SANTA with holding a bell, jingling

it repeatedly. As most people pass by don’t have the interest of
putting a coin. But for some, they do. PAN beside on the left
showing us where the “voices” are, as we know them as “Christmas
Carol Singers” -- a CONDUCTOR with a baton is making moves with both
of his arms as he is standing in front of a stand with a booklet that
contains the composition & lyrics -- the Carol Singers who sing a bit
away from the Conductor. They sing the yuletide song, “Deck The Halls”.

CHRISTMAS CAROL SINGERS

Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!
'Tis the season to be jolly,
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!

PAN AWAY LEFT MORE from the Conductor and the Singers as we then
STOP!

We then MOVE INTO an

ALLEY

Where it is filled with PEOPLE standing a bit from the fire filled
on a metal built drum container, but this thing has seen its day
being a old mess of itself.

MOVING IN, still away from the People, is a RADIO as we are listening
to as if it was voiced by a Glenn Miller type:
Tom and Jerry--2A

RADIO VOICE
Well, New York, are we enjoying
a very good day? We sure are as
we are in the month of December
that we are in the 22nd day just
before Christmas Eve. . .

CUT TO:
Tom and Jerry--3

EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD - NIGHT

Still snowing.

As the voice still continues:

RADIO VOICE (CONT’D)

We got more music just to cheer you up
to be prepared for Christmas this month
on WOR, but just before that, we have a
segment we call it. . .

EXT. A CERTAIN HOME - NIGHT

A certain beauty to this home. A kinda Scottish feel to itself.

We MOVE STRAIGHT IN as going into the window as we

DISSOLVE TO.

INSIDE THE HOME - LIVING ROOM

RADIO VOICE (CONT’D)

. . .Letters to WOR. . .
We have a bunch that were sent from kids
to us at WOR-710 -- we have one. . .
(clearing his voice with:)
Aahem!

PANNING --- showing us a Christmas tree that is decorated.

Presents are under the tree, a variety. Cookies & milk
on a table stand with a folded card standing with a note reads:
“For Santa...”

PANNING MORE -- as we are FOCUSING ON TOM laying down like a cat

would do, sleeping with a curling smile on his face.

RADIO VOICE (CONT’D)

Hi, WOR, my name is Audrey Laakso.
I’m twelve years old. . .
What I would like for Christmas is a
toy of course or a pony. . . but what I
really want for Christmas is having
time to spend with my family. . .
WOMAN’S VOICE (o.s.)
Awww. . . Audrey, sweetie, that was
wonderful.
MALE VOICE
Same here.
AUDREY (o.s.)
Oh. . .
Tom and Jerry--4

ANGLE ON MOTHER & FATHER (30s) with AUDREY LAAKSO

Twelve years old, a beautiful girl with face like an angel,

a more resemblance to Jenny Agutter. Sitting beside with her
parents (RICHARD & CHRISTINE). As the radio continues off,
we still focus on the three people.

She blushes. . .

AUDREY
Thank you, mom, dad.
RICHARD
Hey, you sure you wanna leave
those like that for Santa for
this long?
AUDREY
Well, yeah, daddy.
RICHARD
I could sure eat them up.
CHRISTINE
Richard!
AUDREY
Daddy!
RICHARD
Hey, I’m just kiddin’, you two.
We’ll leave them there for as
long as they are. . .

He turns his attention on Tom.

RICHARD
. . .Right, Tom?. . .

PAN to FOCUS on TOM, with still sleeping as lifting his head up,
nods.

BACK TO CHRISTINE, RICHARD, AUDREY

Audrey turns to Richard.

AUDREY
Do you always have to give
Tom a hard time?
CHRISTINE
Come on, Richard.
RICHARD
All right, all right.
I’ll promise not to be
hard on the cat tomorrow.
Tom and Jerry--5

AUDREY
Pinkie-swear?
RICHARD
(smiling & nods)
Pinkie-swear.

They pinkie-swear and after that. . .

What now?

AUDREY
So what now?
RICHARD
Come on, time for bed.
AUDREY
Alright.

They get up, leaving Tom alone, who is still sleeping.

AUDREY (o.s.)
Boy, how can he lift its head
like that.
RICHARD
I could wonder the same, kiddo.

CAMERA STARTS DOLLYING PAST TOM, also the Christmas tree and
MOVING US favoring a wall.

Why are we shown to this?

Well, at the bottom side which is colored white. There is

a hole. We of course call it a mouse hole.

HOLD.

As it passes that coming out is a MOUSE. It’s JERRY.

He starts looking around and then stops as he looks in the center
front straight.

JERRY’S POV

We ZOOM FAST in at TOM.

BACK TO JERRY

A bored face.

BACK TO JERRY’S POV

Moving away from Tom and Christmas tree. We see the table stand
that has the cookies & milk as we stop. FAST ZOOM on it.
Tom and Jerry--6

BACK TO JERRY

Opens his mouth, wide. Excited as ever.

As he is bored with cheese, but cookies must be a new thing

Jerry must try.

BACK TO CAMERA - TABLE STAND - FOCUS ON: JERRY

running. . .

SIDE OF TABLE STAND

With Jerry running, he runs up on the side to get up.

AT THE TABLE STAND WITH COOKIES & MILK

With Jerry is already there, he starts to grab the card and throws
it away. A background “THUMP” makes it a bit.

He then starts at a stance for a moment, ready to dive in as he

grabs the cookie and then opens his mouth, wide, and --

-- he plops the whole entire thing in -- which forces Jerry

forming himself quickly into the shape of a cookie. . .

TOM

Still sleeping ---

(SOUND): “CRUNCH!” -- ANOTHER “CRUNCH!”. . .

This wakes him up as his eyes open bloodshot eyes.

We don’t know why or how, don’t ask.

He shakes his head two times and then his face is back to normal
as he turns to look around where that noise is ---

--- until he stops and then reacts with a loud noise that a human
barely could even hear it away from distance.

CU - JERRY

Who has the last cookie and is about to eat it ---

(SOUND): “AAAHEM!” --

Jerry turns to where the sound is, stops & goes dread turning into
white in a feeling and drops the cookie on the plate -- as we get
Tom and Jerry--7

WIDER

Tom is there standing with a stern face staring at Jerry who still has
a dreaded look. Jerry tries a smile, but it is weak, as he backs away
a bit --- and then suddenly, Tom whips from his arm to his hand about
to grab Jerry but avoids Tom’s threat. And then Jerry starts to run off
the table stand -- Tom, starts being angry as he takes off after Jerry,
bumps the table stand off-balance as it falls as sounds of glass break.

NEW ANGLE - TOM

turns back to look --

TOM’S POV

FAST ZOOM on the fallen table stand with the plate and glass of
milk broken. Cookie crumbles on the floor.

BACK TO TOM

starts freaking out.

Sounds of voice appear from a distance upstairs as Tom turns to

hear it.

RICHARD (o.s.)
Now what? I bet it’s not the
cat.
CHRISTINE (o.s.)
Richard! You know better.
RICHARD
I know, I know. . .
But still I hope it’s not Tom.
CHRISTINE
But let’s check it out.
RICHARD
Alright.

Tom freaks out again, but silently.

He looks from (o.s.) the dark hallway (leading upstairs) and the
mess he bumped into, repeatedly.

As he stops doing that, he turns attention back to Jerry with

fury of rage as he starts running.

NEW ANGLE

Jerry running away from Tom chasing him. Running around the living
room as Tom starts messing it up:

(1) - Christmas Tree. (2) - Presents. (3) Fancy stuff.

Tom and Jerry--8

ANOTHER NEW ANGLE

He’s about to get into the mouse hole. But Tom gets ahead of Jerry to
where the hole is. Tom blocks the hole as Jerry bumps into the side of
the hand and falls backwards on the floor.

ANGLE ON JERRY

As he gets back up -- looks up.

HIS POV - TOM

The angriest face ever from the cat himself as he starts to

growl.

BACK TO JERRY

he’s so dead within from the threatening expression from Tom.

ANGLE ON TOM

Still angry, AS --

CHRISTINE & RICHARD

TOM!!

Uh-oh! Tom turns as we PAN LEFT FAST to see

RICHARD & CHRISTINE standing from the dark hallway, almost into
the living room.

CHRISTINE
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!

ANGLE IN HALLWAY STAIRS

A bit upstairs coming down a bit is Audrey, who’s holding a teddy bear.

RICHARD
Goddammit, Tom. I gave you a
chance and you do this to us.
Wanna mess EVERYTHING UP!
CHRISTINE
(screams & then)
What is a mouse doing here!
RICHARD
And LOOK! Look what you did
with Audrey’s cookies & milk.
Damn it, Tom, you’ve gone this
too far!
You know what I’m gonna do to ya
and your little mousy friend?. . .
Tom and Jerry--9

CLOSE ON AUDREY’S EYES

starts widening.

EXT. THE LAAKSO HOME - NIGHT (SUBJECTIVE PANAGLIDE)

HOLD.

Then, the door opens as TOM is kicked out coming straight at

the snow.

CLOSE ON DOORWAY

As Jerry walks out. . .

He turns to look.

RICHARD
AND STAY OUT!!

The door closes with slam on them as a wreath comes down, which
Jerry quickly avoids getting hit by it.

NEW ANGLE

Tom getting out of the snow, turns looking. Beside him, Jerry
running away and stops to turn back at the house.

Tom, angered by with what Richard did. Thinks more about killing
him, but waves a hand and meows:

TOM
(subtitled)
Screw this. I’m out.

Tom starts walking, as Jerry looks at him with a confused look --

he starts following Tom.

INT. THE LAAKSO HOME - NIGHT

As Richard and Christine turn away from the door. They stop in
dread. . . !

THEIR POV - AUDREY

standing at the stairs with holding Teddy.

BACK TO RICHARD & CHRISTINE

Still in dread. . .
Tom and Jerry--10

BACK TO AUDREY

still standing, as her face is filled with disappointment.

She turns, marching up the stairs back to her room.

BACK TO RICHARD & CHRISTINE

look elsewhere, until, AS--

(SOUND) “SLAM!”

The door to Audrey’s room slams, startling them.

CHRISTINE
What have we done?
RICHARD
I know. . .
. . .I’ll talk to her tomorrow. . .

CUT TO:

EXT. MOON - NIGHT

HOLD.

Then PAN DOWN to see Tom & Jerry walking on the sidewalk ---

DISSOLVE TO.

EXT. 238th STREET STATION - NIGHT

As Tom & Jerry reaches themselves at the station, waiting.

ANGLE ON TOM

A plain deadshot face on himself as he is bored --

Then -- he starts to sniff and then starting to cry with the sound
of a man’s voice.

ANGLE ON JERRY

Same as Tom, feeling depressed. He looks up at Tom. He feels bad

for him. He goes to Tom, yanking his fur.

BACK TO TOM

stops crying and then looks at Jerry. . .

He meows:
Tom and Jerry--11

TOM
(subtitled)
Why should I bother going with
you more.

BACK TO JERRY

confused look on himself.

BACK TO TOM

TOM
(meows, subtitled)
Oh, why bother to hear.

ANGLE - TOM AND JERRY

standing, AS--

(SOUND): “CHOO, CHOO!”

They turn. . .

WIDER

A train comes out of a tunnel as it to stop, and it does.

The doors open -- Jerry starts to get in.

JERRY

stops as he turns he motions for Tom to go in.

TOM

refuses as he is still depressed.

BACK TO JERRY

He reacts in disbelief, just stands as he backs away a bit.

HOLD -- then, the doors of the train close as it starts to move.

JERRY’S POV - TOM

Depressed, doesn’t even have the nerve to wave Jerry goodbye.

BACK TO JERRY - LOW ANGLE

Sad expression crosses within him as he starts to walk to find

a seat.
Tom and Jerry--12

EXT. 238th STREET STATION - NIGHT

Tom standing there with still being depressed as he lowers

his head down. . .

FADE OUT.

IRIS IN:

EXT. THE LAAKSO HOME - MORNING

Still snowing at the neighborhood as well as the home belonged

to the Laakso’s.

INT. KITCHEN

The usual routine that a person would do, with both Richard &
Christine.

HOLD.

Audrey comes in with a plain old bored face on herself.

Richard & Christine look at each other and then look at

Audrey.

RICHARD & CHRISTINE

Good morning, Audrey.
AUDREY
I don’t wanna talk about it.
CHRISTINE
I know you’re having it rough,
last night.
AUDREY
Rough?
Was that rough when dad kicked Tom
out?!
RICHARD
Don’t you blame me on it. I did
what I did.
AUDREY
(in disbelief)
Did?!
You did more than rough!
RICHARD
(near approach to Audrey)
Why you. . . I oughta teach you
a lesson raising your voice like
that on me.
CHRISTINE
(intervenes)
Alright!! That’s enough!
Tom and Jerry--13

CHRISTINE (CONT’D)
I had it enough with the both
of you arguing each other
for the past damn years.
(beat)
Now, can’t we JUST take a moment
of silence and calm down!

Audrey and Richard stare at each other, a seething anger expression

from both of them. A history of arguments in the past, mentioned
by Christine.

RICHARD & AUDREY

Fine.

Beat. Then, Audrey takes her attention off from her dad.

AUDREY
I gotta go.

She leaves the area.

RICHARD
Where do you think you’re going
young lady?

ANGLE ON AUDREY

AUDREY
Somewhere! That’s none of your business.
RICHARD (o.s.)
Heh. Like you know something.
AUDREY
Why don’t you buzz on your little
car out there and find them,
you half-ass moron.
RICHARD (o.s.)
Why you little--

RICHARD & CHRISTINE

He is about to approach, but Christine intervenes.

CHRISTINE
ENOUGH, DAMMIT!!!
Tom and Jerry--14

WIDER

It is silent as the three stand ---

AUDREY
(turns)
I gotta go.

She leaves the kitchen and sounds of running upstairs and door slam.

RICHARD & CHRISTINE

They still look as Richard turns.

RICHARD
I don’t know who I am anymore?
A dad or a nutcase?
CHRISTINE
You’re better than that.
RICHARD
I don’t know, Christine, I don’t know.
CHRISTINE
Let me talk to her.

Beat.

RICHARD
(sighs)
Okay.

She pleasantly smiles.

INT. AUDREY’S ROOM - AT THE BED

Audrey, sitting at her bed as she plays with Teddy in silent mode.

(SOUND): “KNOCK, KNOCK”.

CHRISTINE (o.s.)
Honey, can I come in?
AUDREY
Come in, mom.

The door opens. Comes at the bed is Christine.

She sits besides Audrey. Tries comforting her.

CHRISTINE
Feeling calm now?
AUDREY
I guess so.
Tom and Jerry--15

CHRISTINE
I know how you feel.
AUDREY
But why? Why did he have
to kick him out?
CHRISTINE
You knew what Tom did.
AUDREY
I know, but we really need
to give him a another chance.

Beat.

AUDREY
Please. . .
CHRISTINE
(sighs)
I know.

EXT. THE LAAKSO HOME - LATER - MORNING

A car parked at in front of the garage. Richard is in there.

Coming out of the door is Audrey with her coat, hat on as well

She gets in the car.

INT. CAR

It’s silent, an awkward one for both of them.

Audrey talks.

Audrey
Dad?
RICHARD
Yeah?
AUDREY
I’m sorry. . .
for what I did.

A another silent beat.

CLOSE ON HANDS

They reach and hold with a grip and it grips it tight.

RICHARD
I know, kiddo. . .
We’ll try to get them back.
Tom and Jerry--16

INT. TRAIN

(SOUND): “CHOO, CHOO!”.

Jerry wakes up and yawns with stretching.

EXT. AT A STOP AT THE TRAIN STATION

The train slows down to a stop --

The doors slide open.

People, ones exit and the others enter.

Jerry exits.

The train starts to move. . .

ANGLE ON JERRY

He looks around and then starts to walk ---

DISSOLVE TO.

EXT. TIMES SQUARE - LATER

As a crowd are walking, FOCUS ON Jerry walking and still looking

around ---

DISSOLVE MORE TO.

EXT. ALLEY - CLOSE ON JERRY

At a wall where Jerry is sitting, as he freezes and twitches repeatedly

---

CLOSE ON A SMALL DOOR

HOLD -- then it opens as a MOUSE come out, but it’s a female.

She has a coat, a scarf, and a top hat. She closes the door and
locks it.

She turns away from the door and then -- STOP!

FEMALE MOUSE’S POV

staring at Jerry who twitches like heck ---

Tom and Jerry--17

BACK TO FEMALE MOUSE

expressing concern for Jerry for a moment --

FEMALE MOUSE
Hey, you alright?

HER POV - JERRY

turns to look at the Female Mouse.

He shakes his head “no”.

BACK TO FEMALE MOUSE

FEMALE MOUSE
Oh. Why don’t you come in
my place and get warm. How
that sounds?

BACK TO CAMERA FROM FEMALE MOUSE - JERRY

He nods quickly!!

CUT TO.

INT. FEMALE MOUSE’S PLACE - LATER - CLOSE ON A MUG

As it is filled with hot chocolate.

PULL BACK as the Female Mouse approaches to Jerry who

sits on a comfy chair with a blanket on him.

She gives him the mug.

FEMALE MOUSE
Here. Careful it’s hot.

Jerry nods. He blows most of the steam coming out of the mug.
Carefully drinks it slowly.

FEMALE MOUSE
Not much of a talker, are you?

Jerry shakes his head.

FEMALE MOUSE (MAGGIE)

Huh.
I can just introduce myself. . .
. . .I’m Maggie. . .
(beat)
You have a name?
Tom and Jerry--18

All Jerry could do is talk very silently with his mouth and
make sign language.

(NOTE: It has to be real sign language!)

JERRY
(subtitled)
I’m Jerry. . .
MAGGIE
Oh, I know sign-language.
You can’t talk?
JERRY
(sign-language, subtitled)
No. . .
I rather not go too much about it.
MAGGIE
(nods)
Ohh. . .Ok.
(beat)
So what brings you here in New York?

Jerry thinks of her question.

JERRY
(sign-language, subtitled)
Oh, living -- that’s what I do for
in my life.
MAGGIE
(nodding)
Same.
Why were you in the cold outside?
JERRY
(sign-language, subtitled)
I was kicked out of a house where
a cat lived there also. His name was
Tom. So both of us had wandered walking
and reached to a train station.
MAGGIE
Well, what happened next?
JERRY
(sign-language, subtitled)
Tom was very depressed, I was confused
as a train came. I entered, but stop
as I turned to look for Tom, waved
for him. But he refused, so I just
stood there and did nothing as the
door closed. It moved, and nothing
since after yesterday, I couldn’t
find him. . .

Maggie, looking in disbelief.

Tom and Jerry--19

MAGGIE
Is there a way we can find Tom?
JERRY
(shrugs) (sign-language,
subtitled)
I don’t know.
MAGGIE
You don’t know?!
JERRY
(sign-language, subtitled)
Look!
I couldn’t do anything but stood
there and do nothing, alright.
(beat)
The best thing I could suggest is
going back to the station I went
to and find him.
MAGGIE
(nodding)
Alright.

CUT TO.

CLOSE ON TOM’S FACE

Bloodshot eyes. Plain. But really as tired as he had started

yesterday.

PULL BACK as PEOPLE stand there and stare at Tom who is

sitting like a human being on a chair. Sounds of chattering
from People still stare on ---

SUBJECTIVE POV (PANAGLIDE)

MOVING FORWARD as the SOUND OF SHOES crosses as PEOPLE turn to

the direction of the sound. Gasp and chattering appear as
People back away from what’s coming, except for a POLICE OFFICER.

As we STILL MOVE STRAIGHT ON TOM as finally looking at

him in the center/middle.

HOLD -- then Tom looks up to stare at the POV --

BACK TO CAMERA FROM TOM - A FEMALE CAT

standing looking curiously for a moment until -- suddenly, she

starts to realize it.

FEMALE CAT
Tom?!
Tom and Jerry--20

TOM
(meows, subtitled)
Marion?

Marion approaches to sit with Tom --

FEMALE CAT (MARION)

Yes! It’s me. . .

She turns to the Officer.

MARION
When did this happened, Officer?
POLICE OFFICER
Well, miss, he was up here
since last night.
MARION
Why?

He just shrugs.

POLICE OFFICER
Miss, I don’t know, okay?
(beat)
Look. . .
If you want to take care of him,
it’s yours, I ain’t gonna mind
it.

She nods.

MARION
Ok.

The Officer nods and turns to the Crowd (People).

POLICE OFFICER
Alright, alright, let’s get
back to as usual, people.

The Crowd obey what the officer tells them.

The Officer turns back and approaches Marion with Tom.

MARION
Come on, Tom.

They stand up as She comforts him.

POLICE OFFICER
Are you gonna be okay, Miss. Watson?
I can drive you two to where your place is.
Tom and Jerry--21

MARION
I think we’ll be okay, Bill.
POLICE OFFICER (BILL)
You sure about that?
Don’t want ya two to be freezing
out here.

Beat.

MARION
Alright.

CUT TO.

INT. POLICE CAR

Officer Bill driving. Tom in the back seat, wrapped in a blanket.

As Marion is in the passenger seat.

OFFICER BILL
So how did you know him?
MARION
Knew him for a long time
since we were just little.
OFFICER BILL
Huh. . .
Sibling? Friend?
MARION
Friend.
He used to be owned by Mr.--
OFFICER BILL
McNally?
MARION
How did you know?
OFFICER BILL
I heard you say the cat’s name.
Tom.
MARION
Yeah?
OFFICER BILL
Tom was McNally’s pet cat.
I used to come to McNally’s,
for a visit, He always would
have Tom by his lap laying
and curling up.

CLOSE ON TOM

He looks up, hearing what Officer Bill says as he continues more.

OFFICER BILL (o.s.)

Tom was always McNally’s favorite.
Tom and Jerry--22

Tom smiles at hearing from what Bill saying. Tom seems to remember
memories.

OFFICER BILL (o.s.)

But. . .

Tom’s smile starts to fade as he thinks what’s coming.

MARION (o.s.)
Yeah?
OFFICER BILL (o.s.)
(sighs, then)
The years came by, Old Mr.
McNally became ill, until
weeks later. . .
he passed.
MARION (o.s.)
Oh.

Tom’s expression still fading into sadness. He sighs.

BACK TO CAMERA FROM TOM - OFFICER BILL & MARION

As they hear the *sigh* from Tom, they turn. Bill turns
back to look into traffic as he continues his talk more.

OFFICER BILL
Poor thing couldn’t realize what
had happened to its owner when
he slept until the morning came. . .
. . .After the funeral,
his wife and daughter couldn’t do
anything with him, but gave to me
if I can give him to a pet shop.
MARION
Did you?
OFFICER BILL
Yeah, I did. (sighs)
That was the last thing I saw of
Tom, until now, when you called
his name.
MARION
Right. . .
(turns to Tom)
Don’t worry, Tom.
You’ll live with me, it’s fine
there.

BACK TO TOM

He nods. . .
Tom and Jerry--23

EXT. SCHOOL - AFTERNOON - LATER

A SIGN in front of the school reads (of its name):

“FRED QUIMBY
JUNIOR HIGH”

A BELL RINGS --

PAN to the ENTRANCE where the kids exit the building with
their coats on, wearing their backpacks.

ANGLE ON ENTRANCE

Lasts to come out are AUDREY and a FRIEND of hers’ (VERONICA

GEORGE).

AUDREY
Got any plans, Veronica?
VERONICA
Just getting prepared for
the holiday. Why?
AUDREY
Nothing, it seems you have
a great life for this time
of the year.
VERONICA
Sure. But I feel bad for you
what happened last night.
AUDREY
Yeah.
VERONICA
You sure you’ll find them
both?
AUDREY
I hope so.
If I don’t, it’s the end
of the world.
VERONICA
Hey, don’t say that. It’ll
be fine, alright?
AUDREY
Alright.

As they walk.

RICHARD (o.s.)
Audrey. . .

They look to where the sound is.

Tom and Jerry--24

THEIR POV - RICHARD

standing beside his car. Waving.

RICHARD
Veronica, girls.

BACK TO AUDREY & VERONICA

Waving with a smile on their faces.
