NOTES: C#, B, A, E

SCALE (KEY/MAJOR?/PENTATONIC?): D Major

RHYTHM: Quarter notes, half notes

FORM/MUSICAL STRUCTURE: AA’

IDIOSYNCRASIES: C#

What information above is REVIEW and what is NEW KNOWLEDGE?

PREVIOUSLY TAUGHT NEED TO TEACH

Bow lift C#

Dynamics

Brainstorm ideas to teach new knowledge….

NEW KNOWLEDGE POINT IDEAS

1. C# Review finger position for D-E-F# on D string

Show how this is the same finger position but on
G string (A string for bass)

2.

Structure plan to achieve goal….

LESSON PLAN STRUCTURE PERSONAL APPROACH MINUTES

PER
ACTIVITY

AUDITORY WARM-UP (NO (Have this scale and rhythm written on 4

BOOK) board(V))
Sing 1 octave D major scale- two eighth notes
per note
Play 1 octave D major scale- two eighth notes
per note

VISUAL WARM-UP #45 (have this printed out largely with only this 4
line).
REVIEW: (Find # that reviews #53 (have this printed out largely with only this 4
and/or relates to new knowledge) line).

TEACH: New knowledge Play D, E, F# on the D string note by note. Ask 10

about the whole and half steps. (Have all of
these notes written out on the board on a staff.
Also have the whole/half steps labeled (V) and
also say the notes and steps out loud (A).
Allow the students to think about each note
and step before they play anything (for
pacing)).

Violins/violas- The High2/3 for F# on the D

string is the same exact hand position for C#
on G string

Cellos- totally new hand position! G string- play

G, A, and place 2 finger on the B (really
stretch!), now place 3 and 4th finger down at
the same time to play C#

Basses: Open G, first finger A, fourth finger B,

(shift to 3 position) second finger C#

EXERCISE: Utilizes new #65- starts on the newly learned C#, have 10
knowledge/skill students set hand by walking up to note before
starting (have this printed out largely with only
this line. Have the C# highlighted as the color
yellow in the music to point it out)

(Use one of the rugs that has a musical staff

on them, so students who learn kinesthetically
(K) can point or step on the line/space for each
note- especially the C#.)

FINAL PERFORMANCE GOAL Have each section play 65 by themselves.. 10

(sing/play?) Afterwards, let students give themselves
feedback and say what helps them remember
to do the high C#
