2. Best Practices - Eco Tourism Government of Maharashtra has declared 2011 as Tourism Year. To celebrate this year in real sense, let us practice Eco-tourism and help in conservation of Maharashtras rich biodiversity! - Agri Tourism Agricultural Tourism is the Holidays concept of Visiting a working farm or any agricultural, horticultural, or agribusiness operations for the purpose of enjoyment, education, or active involvement in the activities of the farm or operation. - Medical Tourism It is being developed in Mumbai and marketed at international fora.

Bed And Breakfast SchemeThe Bed and Breakfast scheme creates facilities for travellers at remote destinations (where hotel accomodation is not available) and provides income to the local people. Advertising CampaignLauched good TV commecials with tagline of Unlimited reasons to get lost in. Campaign slogan for Maharashtra Tourism MAHARASHTRA UNLIMITED! Mumbai TourismGave special attention for Mumbai Tourism as a package and gave a cpncept of bollywood tourism with night cruises along the illuminated coastline of Mumbai. Pilgrimage Circuits : Maharashtra is known for its pilgrimage centers like the Jyotirlingas, the Ashta Vinayaks and other famous temples at Shirdi, Pandarpur, Kolhapur,etc. Pilgrim circuits can be developed, connecting these pilgrimages. 4. State Govt Policies to promote tourism Public-Private-Partnership: Specific destinations and monuments would be identified where public-private partnership is possible. NDZs : Many tourism areas can attract a number of foreign as well as domestic tourists provided suitable areas/plots can be offered to such projects. As Govt. has allowed IT activities in No Development Zones (NDZ), tourism activities such as entertainment centres which include small golfing facilities, tourism villages, handicraft displays with no extra FSI should also be considered in the NDZ. Exemption on stamp and entertainment duty on tourism projects. The Govt. of Maharashtra has declared additional incentives to promote tourism in the rural and backward areas of the state,. The areas that would be developed by MTDC would be called 'Tourism Areas'. Sindhudurg district has been declared a Tourism District. Land Policy for Tourism: If an investor approaches the MTDC with a viable project on a particular plot of land and undertakes to bear the cost of acquisition and escalation thereof, the MTDC will acquire such land through the Collector and lease the same to the private investor on stipulated terms and conditions in accordance with the govt. rules and regulations.

TravelDeccan Odyssey Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Ltd in association with Indian Railways - Ministry of Tourism has launched a Super Deluxe luxury train "The Deccan Odyssey".A weeklong royal journey is through some of the best places in Maharashtra namely Mumbai, Sindhudurg, Tarkarli, Goa, Kolhapur, Aurangabad,

Ellora, Chandrapur (Tadoba Wildlife), Wardha (Sevagram), Ajanta and Nasik. The objective of running "The Deccan Odyssey" train is primarily to showcase the best of tourism assets of Maharashtra like pristine beauty of Konkan coast, the art, the culture, the wildlife, the heritage (including world heritage sites of Ajanta - Ellora) of Maharashtra as well as Maharashtra's local arts, crafts and cuisine.
