Final
You may submit an initial draft of the paper for comments that you can
use to revise the final draft that you will submit for grading. The
paper should address issues raised in comments on your initial
draft.
1. Describe the symptoms of the case that meet the criteria for a
diagnosis of a disorder using the most recent version of the DSM.
2. Describe how these symptoms would be labeled and treated from a
traditional, historical, or cultural perspective other than that in the
DSM. Also, describe any recent changes in the DSM diagnosis of the
case’s disorder.
3. Explain the causes of the case’s disorder in terms of any two of
the following theoretical perspectives: the psychoanalytic,
cognitive, behavioral, humanistic, socio-cultural, and biological
perspectives.
4. Describe scientific evidence that supports one of the two
explanations above and a treatment based on that explanation.
5. Describe any legal or ethical issues that may arise in the diagnosis
and treatment of this case’s disorder.
Your paper should have five sections, each corresponding with one of
the objectives above, and given the following headings: Case
Diagnosis, Historical Background, Theoretical Explanation, Scientific
Evidence, Ethical Issues.
The term paper assignment is graded based on how well it meets each
of the objectives below using a 10-point rubric (0-5= totally
unresponsive, 6, 7 = partially meets the objective, 8,9 = meets the
objective, 10 = exceeds expectations).

Kayla is 14 years old and her mother identify her as angry, irritable, argumentative, and
vindictive. Kayla have been getting in a lot of trouble in school. Kayla refuses to listen to her teachers,
she is always disrespectful and throws things at her peers and teachers when she is upset and constantly
gets into fights. Kayla always come home pass her curfew and bluntly tells her mom “I will get home
when I get there”. Kayla have been getting in serious trouble in the last two years. Last year Kayla was
arrested for vandalism and stealing her mother car. She was placed in a Juvenile Detention Center for
five months since it was her first offense. Since than Kayla have getting in trouble with the law. She
