INTRODUCTION

On-the-job Training is part of a college curriculum that aims to

train and orient students about the work and their future career. It is a type
of skill development where a worker learns how to do the work through
hands-on experience. On the Job Training is one method by which students
are exposed with different work situation designed to give students an
opportunity to experience and a chance to apply the theories and
computation that they have learned from the school. It also helps the
students to acquire relevant knowledge and skills by performing in actual
work setting.
OJT is very important not only to teach students regarding their
chosen career but also to show students the reality about working. The
students will be exposed to the actual work related to the course that they
are taking. It also allows those with no experience to work and to learn at the
same time. On-the-Job Training helps the trainee to learn more about his
chosen field and practice what he has learned from the school. It helps in the
building up of the trainee’s competence. Of course, when a students is
competent enough, he will be able to do things successfully and. This training
develops one’s professionalism in dealing with people. After the training, the
trainee will be able to handle situations properly and he’ll be able to know
how to socialize well with his colleagues. He will also be able to work well
with everyone and he’ll have a good teamwork. OJT also enhances the critical
thinking abilities and discipline of the student conducting his training in a
company. His ability to make sound decisions and evaluate pertinent factors
will be improved.
Having a proper On-the-Job Training helps in the preparation of
future professionals for their future jobs. What the students learned in their
On-the-Job Training, even the little things, can be applied when they are
already working. Students will be trained not only academically but socially as
well. The way they work and communicate with others will not be a problem

for them anymore. It also gives the trainee the chance to immerse himself in
his chosen field and experience and learn the skills necessary to the industry
he is interested in. Working with experienced staff, one will be able to
observe how the job is done properly.
Aside from work experience, On-the-Job Training allows the trainee to
get acquainted with the real professionals and to meet people having
different positions in the company, either high or low. The trainee will be
able to know how to adjust to other people’s personalities and attitudes. On-
the-Job Training requires effort and seriousness. A trainee should take the
OJT seriously as it can be a powerful tool for a person in preparing for the
next chapter of life as a professional. It can possibly be a source of
recommendation when they take that big lift from being students to career
professionals someday.

History of NORSU Bais Campus II Library

(Formerly known as Bais Developmental College)

The Bais Developmental College (BADECO) was founded by virtue of

Sangguniang Panglungsod Resolution No. 168 on October 19, 1978. It was
founded and funded by the Local Government Unit (LGU) with the full support
of the late City Mayor Genaro Goñi and its operation began in 1980. The
Library was funded by the City which included book collections and other
library materials.
The City Library and the Library of BADECO were merged and housed
in one building under the supervision of the late Mrs. Crispiana Chua. The
City Library was transferred to the heart of the city.

The name BADECO was changed to Genaro Goñi Memorial College

(GGMC) in memory of the late City Mayor Genaro Goñi, the founder of the
school. The GGMC Library was managed by Mrs. Evangeline Cabio Pacurib
who started as a part-time librarian until she became a permanent librarian in
the GGMC Library in 1993.

By virtue of Republic Act 9299 in 2004, Central Visayas Polytechnic

College (CVPC) was converted to Negros Oriental State University (NORSU).
The Genaro Goñi Memorial College in the City of Bais became part of
NORSU. Subsequently, the Genaro Goñi Memorial College (GGMC) Library
as part of NORSU started to be funded by the National Government. The

digital resources such as e-books, online databases, research journals, and
multimedia collections. These resources can be accessed remotely,
expanding the library's reach beyond its physical premises.

internet access, allowing users who may not have their own devices or
internet connections to use technology for research, job searches, educational
purposes, and more.

Community Programs and Events: Libraries often organize and host various
community programs and events. These can include author readings, book
clubs, workshops, lectures, storytelling sessions, children's programs,
exhibitions, and cultural events, fostering a sense of community and
promoting lifelong learning.

Digital Literacy and Skills Development: Libraries play a crucial role in

promoting digital literacy and providing technology training. They offer
workshops and classes on topics such as computer skills, internet navigation,
coding, and software applications, empowering users with essential digital
skills.

Preservation of Cultural Heritage: Libraries preserve and protect cultural

heritage by acquiring, cataloging, and archiving valuable materials. They may
house rare books, manuscripts, historical documents, maps, photographs,
and other artifacts, ensuring their accessibility for future generations.

Collaborative Spaces: Many modern libraries feature collaborative spaces that

encourage group work, discussions, and interactive learning. These spaces
may include meeting rooms, project areas, multimedia labs, and
makerspaces, enabling users to collaborate and create together.

Overall, libraries serve as vital institutions that facilitate learning, intellectual

WEEK 1

Norsu Bais Library Campus II– this is the office where I was assigned
to conduct my On-the-Job Training. On my first week of training, I was
very excited and somewhat nervous because of the new environment
and the new people surrounding me. I didn’t have any idea of what
kind of people they are and it made me adjust myself with their
personalities and attitudes. I spent it with determination to work hard,
for me to finish all the task that was assigned to me by the librarian
staff. It was my duties and responsibilities to work with no hesitation
to provides the quality of work to impress the people around inside the
company in a professional way.

My first week was really a good start and I was motivated to

perform excellently because of what I have already accomplished and
because of my Training Manager who is very accommodating and kind
to me and to my co-interns.

This is my last week of On-the-Job Training and I still needed to finish

and to perform the tasks assigned to me.
I was happy because I will finally finish my training but somehow sad
because I will be leaving the office where I had lots of memories and
I will be missing the people that became close to me for a period of
time. Despite the sorrow of leaving them, I am still happy that once in
my life, I have met people like them in my life who taught me things
related to my chosen course, and most importantly, they helped me
to be the best that I can be. They are the ones who helped me in
molding myself to be the individual I am right now. They challenged
my skills, abilities and knowledge and gave me a chance to prove
myself to them. It is a very heartwarming thing to know that there
are people who believe in me. I’m very grateful because I made them
proud of what I have accomplished during my training and they were
very thankful for everything that I have helped them with.

WEEK 10

This is my tenth week of my OJT at NORSU LIBRARY BAIS CAMPUS II, as

usual same as our last week, everything is so normal. Assisting student taking
entrance exam observing them. I’m comfortable of my work because
everything is well. Although there are times that I’m really tired but still it’s
not a reason to stop from doing my work because there’s these vibes that
makes me to do my work. I’m challenging myself always to see things
through in our office environment and our task to learn some techniques for
the following weeks.
LEARNINGS

The training we had in the Norsu Bais Library Campus 2 Office we

have many experiences each day. We were exposed in the actual
work in Real-State office, became familiar with the works in the office
and we learned how to use equipment that are usually used in the
office. Aside from those things, we also learned to be more sociable
and to adjust ourself in the environment where we are working at,
and who we are working with.
In our more than two months stay there, we learned many things not
only those things that are related to our course but also the things
that molded us into the person where we are right now. As we were
working as a trainee at Norsu Bais Library Campus 2, We are learned
to become a hard-working person. The time to finish the task
assigned to us is important, but it is also important that we should do
it correctly.
C O N C LU S I O N

Nothing beats experience as the perfect learning tool. This On-

the- Job Training served as my stepping stone to pursue my dream to
be a Computer Science/IT Programmer someday. This training gave
me an inspiration to be more serious and focused in studying. I was
encouraged to do more efforts in my studies. Since I was given some
ideas about the work of a data analyst in the company where I
conducted my training, I am inspired to be like them someday.
Despite the short period of my training, it was still a very
meaningful one. The training enriched my confidence created a
foundation of being a good employee someday. It caused a very huge
effect to me as a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Student. I
was really renewed. I learned to be diplomatic in both action and
words.
This training made me realize that it is really good to know what
you’re doing, and to love it. As a student, what I can do for now is to
learn whatever I can in school, be inspired, love the path I am taking,
and do my best in everything I do, with a positive outlook in mind. I
realized that I should be more focused in school and do everything
heartily and with all that I can.
It is also very warm to the heart to know that you have
accomplished something and even warmer when there are people who
are so proud of what you have done and I felt this feeling during my
On- the-Job Training. It inspired me to be more determined and
competitive in everything that I do in my daily life as a student today
and as a professional someday.
My On-the-Job Training is very helpful and will be very helpful
to me as I continue to take my journey as a fourth year student in the
field of Computer Science. It really gave me a taste of the real world –
a glimpse of what lies ahead after I graduate.
