Science IV

The document is a daily lesson log for a science class on magnetism. It covers the objectives, content, resources, procedures and evaluation for the lesson. The procedures section details activities like identifying forces in pictures, reviewing previous lessons, demonstrating how magnets attract nails, showing a video on magnet poles, grouping students to test magnet attraction and repulsion, defining magnetism, and evaluating student understanding with true/false questions. The lesson aims to help students understand the properties and effects of magnetic forces.

Magnetism
Overview
Magnetism is a class of physical phenomena that are mediated by magnetic
fields. Electric currents and the magnetic moments of elementary particles give
rise to a magnetic field, which acts on other currents and magnetic moments.
Magnetism is one aspect of the combined phenomenon of electromagnetism.
The most familiar effects occur in ferromagnetic materials, which are strongly
attracted by magnetic fields and can be magnetized to become permanent
magnets, producing magnetic fields themselves. Only a few substances are
ferromagnetic; the most common ones are iron, cobalt and nickel and their
alloys. The prefix ferro- refers to iron, because permanent magnetism was first
observed in lodestone, a form of natural iron ore called magnetite, Fe₃O₄.
(Magnetism, n.d.)

I. Evaluation DRAW if the statement is correct. If false , identify what makes it

incorrect. Write the correct answer on the blank.

_________ 1. All magnets have two north poles.

_________ 2. If you break a magnet into two pieces , you will have two magnets
With same poles.
_________ 3. The pulling or pushing force are strongest at the north pole.
_________ 4. Most objects with iron are attracted to magnets
_________ 5. Magnet can reppel an object made of paper
J. Assignment Draw five machines or objects that works with magnet.
