“Two equal chords of a circle subtend equal angles at the centre of the circle.
Hence, Proved.
Theorem 2:
“The perpendicular to a chord bisects the chord if drawn from the centre of the circle.”
In the above figure, as per the theorem, OD ⊥ AB, therefore, AD = DB.
“Equal chords of a circle are equidistant (equal distance) from the centre of the circle.”
AB = CD (Given)
BP = DQ (from eq 1 and 2)
Hence,
OP = OQ ( By CPCT)
Theorem 4:
“Measure of angles subtended to any point on the circumference of the circle from the same arc is equal
to half of the angle subtended at the center by the same arc.”
∠AOB = 2∠APB
Proof: In ∆AOP,
⇒ ∠AOB = 2∠APB
Theorem 5:
Proof:
⇒ 2α + 2β = 360°
⇒α + β = 180°
A Line through the centre that bisects the chord is perpendicular to the chord
A Quadrilateral is called a cyclic quadrilateral if all the four vertices lie on a circle.
If the sum of a pair of opposite angles of a quadrilateral is 180 degree, the quadrilateral is cyclic.
The sum of either pair of opposite angles of a cyclic quadrilateral is 180 degree
